The 2019 Fiat 500 & Chrysler Pacifica: A New Kind of Fun

The minivan and the mini-car are getting a reboot, a new way of being fun, with the rollout from Fiat Chrysler of the 2019 Fiat 500 and the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. Both are winning great accolades and rave reviews, both are fun as well as practical, and both deserve your serious consideration. Let’s look together at all the reasons that Mount Airy should put you behind the wheel of a Chrysler Pacifica and a Fiat 500. Fun Family Wagon: The Chrysler Pacifica Minivans have always been essential to family life, so why can’t they be fun also? Chrysler thinks they can be fun, and we are going to consider all the ways that the Pacifica makes essential family chores and tasks as enjoyable as possible. The most awarded mini-van 3 years in a row, having again been named “Best Buy” by Consumer Digest. The Pacifica is still winning awards, and with very good reason. It recently won “Family Car of the Year” by Cars.com, for its 2018 choice, and the IIHS named the Pacifica its Top Safety Pick for 2019. And who doesn’t want one of the safest minivans possible, and mix it up with a bit of fun, so that driving it becomes one of the highlights of your day? Let’s start with some of the practical features that will get you behind the Pacifica’s wheel: to start, this is America’s first hybrid minivan. Yes, that’s right! And you know what that means—savings on your credit card statement and less trips to the gas station. With 28 miles per gallon, the Pacifica outperforms the Chevrolet Traverse, Toyota Sienna, and Kia Sedona. And with a 33-mile pure electric range on a full charge, an efficiency rating of 82 MPGe and a 520-mile total driving range, money-savings from fuel efficiency are certain. So, trips to Chick-fil-A, after school pickups, soccer practice, cheer practice, football matches, early morning commutes—all just got cheaper with the new hybrid Pacifica! Spend those dollars from your gas savings elsewhere. Perhaps a trip up to the mountains to ski, this winter? What about safety? The 2018 Pacifica won a 5-Star Overall Safety Rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a 5-Star rating for its numerous safety features. Such features include 360-degree Surround View Camera, Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking, LaneSense system that helps with lane keep assist and lane departure warning, as well as, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, to help you maintain a set distance between your Pacifica and the vehicle in front of it. And how about taking advantage of the available Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist System, which parks the Pacifica for you, by controlling the steering wheel while it guides you through the moments you need to shift, brake and accelerate. These, along with 100+ other key safety features, add up to peace of mind. Is it any wonder that the Chrysler Pacifica consistently delivers unsurpassed safety ratings? The 2019 Pacifica comes with all of these features, so you can expect another 5-Star award when the NHTSA makes its next round of evaluations. You can be assured, when getting onto the road, that Chrysler will deliver serious protection to you and your family. Now let’s have some fun with the practical features of seating and storage, before we look at all of the features of the Pacifica that are just pure fun. First, the available 8 passenger seating can be configured up to 243 seating configurations. Do you need all of those? Maybe not, but the flexibility of so many configurations means you can easily have a full house in a commute, you can be ready for grocery shopping, retail therapy, the holiday hustle, or being a weekend warrior. The Pacifica’s configuration possibilities, along with the second-row Stow ‘n Go Seating and Storage System, which allows for increased cargo space, means it is ready for you to do just about anything that’s on your list. Flexibility plus space means the Pacifica is right on target for your family’s needs. Now what about the sheer fun of driving in the Chrysler Pacifica? Entertainment options abound with the Uconnect Theater system, providing endless fun on either a long haul, for family vacation or that trip to grandma’s, or those delays in traffic during morning, afternoon and evening commutes. And add to those moments great tunes, seamlessly delivering beautiful audio through the 20-speaker Harman Kardon Premium Surround Sound System. Does the Honda Odyssey, the Toyota Sienna, or the Kia Sedona have those? Nope, but the Chrysler Pacifica delivers all of this, and more. With dual 10.1-inch touchscreens, the Pacifica delivers the largest available dual touchscreens in its class. And it offers nine built-in games and apps that will help to occupy your kids for hours, with the Uconnect Theater. And don’t forget that the Chrysler Pacifica offers access to Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto integration on the 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen. You can make calls, send and receive text messages, get navigation commands, and read the specs on your engine’s performance while driving. Great entertainment, great audio, and an intuitive infotainment system means your minivan will rock out as much as you do. With the Chrysler Pacifica, fun is the name of the game. Its safety accolades, its cargo storage space, its flexible seating configurations, and numerous other practical features—all add up to you worrying less and enjoying more, when driving. So “fun” becomes the new way to think about the essential family vehicle, the minivan. With the Pacifica, the road has never been this much fun! Fun in a Mini-Car: The Fiat 500 And what about the mini-car? Perhaps the Fiat mini-car seems like a choice in vehicle that you would be likely to ignore, going for a small sedan instead. But, have you really looked at the Fiat 500? Have you really considered the advantages in gas mileage that such a smaller car sports, or how fun it can be to drive? Move over, Mini-Cooper, because the Fiat 500 has as much to offer, is as fun—and at a lesser price, to boot! Fiat presents the Fiat 500 as “equipped for anything, especially fun” and they couldn’t be more right! When Fiat offers a good-sized mini-car, excellent technology and stylish Italian design, what more could you want for your everyday drive? With its distinctive appearance and that 500 face, the Fiat comes in a few models that are sure to please, but the sporty coupe Fiat 500 is still a crowd-pleaser. Motortrend dubbed the 2019 Fiat 500 a “boutique car” and that’s exactly the sort of fun it offers to the Fiat driver. It’s unusual, it is boutique, it is out-of-the-ordinary, it has “cheeky cuteness.” It’s a car worth talking about, and not just because it’s a mini-car but because it’s a good car that has a lot more to offer than a first glance would offer. Let’s get into what it does offer, so we can see just how much fun riding in the Fiat 500 will be. Starting with the 2018 Fiat 500, Fiat began using an engine similar to the one it exclusively has used in the Abarth model: a 1.4L, 135-horsepower 150-lb-ft turbocharged engine. More power and more torque means a zippier ride in the Fiat 500. You can get it in either 5-speed transmission or 6-speed automatic. All of that spells fun. The additional revamp of earlier models means better features in the 2019 Fiat 500, features similar to ones found only in the Turbo models but now standard, including: a rear spoiler, turbo badges, foglamps, 16-inch wheels, a larger performance braking system, and a standard back-up camera (which meets federal mandate requirements). What else makes this minicar alluring? Well, not only does it have distinctive Italian design and fashion sense, but part of the fun of the Fiat 500 is its color palette. Now the 2019 Fiat 500 offers eleven exterior color options and nine interior color choices, meaning you can really outfit the Fiat to genuinely reflect your personality. Be audacious, be bold; be sleek and suave; be conventional but with a twist—the color pairings make all those options possible. And that, too, spells fun. Its unique, standout interior vividly conjures up images good Italian fashion sense and running the motor speedway in Monte Carlo. Cruising through the Piazza in Rome or making hairpin turns down narrow streets—the stuff of movies—easily springs to mind when you climb into the Fiat 500’s interior and see its sleek, boutique design. This is a fun-loving car, through and through, so it’s out-of-the-box interior, with its surprising spaciousness, beautiful dash, and unique interior trim, adds up to a desire to drive. This is the sort of car you want to drive, because it makes everything more fun, sporty, and stylish, all at once. And what about fuel economy? What many may not imagine the Fiat can do, is the very thing it does well: 28 miles per gallon in the city and 33 miles per gallon on the highway, adding up to 30 mpg combined driving. Compared to sedans and other compact cars, Fiat 500’s performance puts it on firm footing. And with a price point starting at $17,490, the Fiat’s stylish, zippy fun beats out the higher priced Mini-Cooper and Volkswagen Beetle. It’s more fashionable and far more fun than the others, which have become pretty typical these days. Why find yourself in the typical Mini-Cooper or Beetle when you can change it up with a great, unforgettably-designed Fiat 500? The German carmakers have had their day; let the Italians show you how to really live la viva bella—the beautiful life. And why not have a bit more fun on a bit less money than its supermini competitors? Budget-friendly la viva bella is not a bad way to live, and what counts is all the fun you will have! Mount Airy’s commitment, to putting you into safe, reliable vehicles that are equally fun and a pleasure to drive, cannot be under-stated. We are committed to your safety and your enjoyment of driving, and we are convinced that the Chrysler Pacifica and the Fiat 500 do just that. The Pacifica gives you all the safety features and practical conveniences to make family drives all you expect, and it adds a twist of fun into the mix. The Fiat 500 spells out “fun” with its sleek style, its fashionable interior, and its zippy, fun-loving drive. You cannot go wrong with either choice, so what it comes down to is a simple question: which vehicle better fits your needs? Do you need a truly better-than-typical minivan or are you looking to zip about town in the unique look of the Fiat 500? Or do you need one of each: the family wagon for those days of essential family life, and the fun you know that the Fiat 500 promises you when you can get a night out on your own, for a ladies’ night out or a guys’ Sunday hang at the local sports bar?   Written by Andrae Bergeron CCP Web Design - Andrae@ccpwebdesign.com

Which engine is better the Hemi or the Hurricane

Ram Hurricane vs. HEMI: Why Truck Owners Are Divided (And Which Engine Is Right for You?)

Few topics have sparked more debate among Ram owners than the transition from the legendary HEMI® V8 to the new Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six. Some drivers believe nothing can replace the sound and simplicity of a naturally aspirated V8. Others argue the Hurricane is a significant step forward in performance, efficiency, and modern engineering. Who's right?  The honest answer is...both. Each engine has strengths, and the best choice depends on how you drive, what you tow, and what matters most to you. About This Comparison Before we dive into horsepower and torque figures, it's worth explaining how we approached this comparison.  Choosing a truck is a major investment, and today's buyers rarely rely on manufacturer brochures alone. They watch long-term ownership videos, read independent automotive reviews, and spend hours browsing owner forums and enthusiast communities to learn from people who actually live with these trucks every day. To create this guide, we looked beyond factory specifications. We considered published engineering data, independent automotive testing, and the recurring themes discussed in public owner communities like reddit and enthusiast forums. Rather than highlighting a handful of individual opinions, we've summarized the experiences, questions, and concerns that consistently appear across many owner conversations. Every driver has different priorities, towing needs, maintenance habits, and driving conditions, so your experience may differ. Our goal isn't to declare a winner—it's to help you choose the engine that's right for you. Meet the Contenders The Legendary HEMI For more than two decades, the HEMI became one of the most recognizable truck engines in America. Owners appreciated: The unmistakable V8 exhaust note Proven long-term durability Strong towing performance Straightforward engineering Excellent aftermarket support For many Ram owners, the HEMI isn't just an engine. It's part of the truck's identity. The New Hurricane The Hurricane takes a completely different approach. Instead of relying on displacement, Ram engineers developed a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six designed to deliver more horsepower and substantially more torque than the outgoing V8. Owners appreciate: Stronger horsepower and torque Quick, confident acceleration Impressive low-end pulling power Better performance at higher elevations Modern engineering with improved efficiency On paper, it's clearly the stronger engine. The question many buyers ask is whether modern technology can earn the same trust the HEMI built over many years. What Truck Owners Are Saying One thing became clear while reviewing owner discussions across public truck communities.  This isn't really an argument about horsepower.  It's an argument about philosophy. Why Many Owners Still Love the HEMI One theme appeared repeatedly.  Owners trust what they know. Many describe the HEMI as proven, predictable, easy to understand, built for long-term ownership.  For buyers who keep trucks ten or fifteen years, mechanical simplicity remains important. Another recurring opinion centers on emotion. The sound, the idle, and the rumble when accelerating onto the highway.  Many owners simply enjoy driving a V8. For them, that's part of owning a truck. Why Hurricane Owners Are Winning People Over Owners who have actually driven the Hurricane often describe something unexpected. They expected to miss the V8. Instead, many came away impressed by how effortless the truck feels.  Common observations include noticeably quicker acceleration, stronger passing power, excellent highway performance, smooth towing, and impressive low-end torque.  Many describe it as feeling more like a modern diesel than a traditional gasoline V6. That's high praise among truck enthusiasts. Performance This is where the Hurricane clearly shines. It delivers more horsepower, more torque, stronger acceleration, passing slower traffic requires less effort and merging onto interstates feels more confident.  At higher elevations, turbocharging also helps maintain performance that naturally aspirated engines gradually lose. Performance Winner Hurricane Engine Horsepower Torque 5.7L HEMI V8 (eTorque) 395 hp 410 lb-ft 3.0L Hurricane SO Standard Output 420 hp 469 lb-ft 3.0L Hurricane High Output 540 hp 521 lb-ft Towing Both engines are excellent towing platforms.  The HEMI has years of proven experience pulling campers, utility trailers, boats, and equipment. The Hurricane's additional torque gives it impressive pulling power, particularly during acceleration and climbing grades. For most buyers, either engine will comfortably handle everyday towing duties. Winner Tie Fuel Economy While fuel economy depends on driving habits and truck configuration, many owners report modest improvements with the Hurricane during normal commuting and highway driving.  Heavy towing naturally reduces fuel economy regardless of engine choice.  Drivers who spend much of their week commuting may appreciate the Hurricane's added efficiency. Winner Hurricane Maintenance This topic generates plenty of discussion.  Owners appreciate the HEMI because independent mechanics know it well, replacement parts are widely available, and the engine has accumulated millions of real-world miles. The Hurricane introduces turbochargers, additional plumbing, and more sophisticated engine management.  Some buyers view that as increased complexity.  Others point out that modern turbocharged engines have become common throughout the automotive industry.  Only years of long-term ownership will fully answer questions about durability. Current Advantage HEMI for long-term track record The Heart vs. The Head This may be the simplest way to explain the debate. Buy with your heart... Choose the HEMI if you love: classic V8 sound mechanical simplicity proven reliability traditional truck character owning a piece of Ram history Buy with your head... Choose the Hurricane if you value: stronger acceleration more horsepower more torque improved fuel economy modern engineering higher towing performance Neither decision is wrong. They're simply different priorities. Which Engine Fits Your Lifestyle? Here are some of the opinions that we found online ... Daily Commuter The Hurricane's extra efficiency and responsive acceleration make daily driving enjoyable. Weekend Warrior Dealership Employee:  Either engine performs exceptionally well.  Your preference will likely come down to driving feel. Performance Enthusiast The Hurricane delivers stronger numbers nearly across the board. Quick Comparison Category Hurricane HEMI Horsepower ★★★★★ ★★★★☆ Torque ★★★★★ ★★★★☆ Acceleration ★★★★★ ★★★★☆ Fuel Economy ★★★★☆ ★★★☆☆ Proven Reliability ★★★☆☆ ★★★★★ Traditional Truck Feel ★★★☆☆ ★★★★★ Modern Technology ★★★★★ ★★★☆☆ Long-Term Owner Confidence ★★★★☆ ★★★★★ Frequently Asked Questions Is the Hurricane replacing the HEMI? Ram originally positioned the Hurricane as its next-generation truck engine. However, continued customer demand for the HEMI has led Ram to bring V8-powered models back into portions of its lineup, giving buyers more choice. Is the Hurricane more powerful? Yes. The Hurricane produces more horsepower and torque than the outgoing 5.7L HEMI, resulting in stronger acceleration and improved passing performance. Is the HEMI more reliable? The HEMI benefits from a long history of real-world use, giving buyers confidence in its durability. The Hurricane is newer, so it hasn't yet accumulated the same decades of ownership history. Which engine should I buy? If you value proven reliability, V8 sound, and traditional truck character, the HEMI remains a compelling choice. If you prioritize performance, torque, efficiency, and modern engineering, the Hurricane is difficult to ignore. The Bottom Line The debate between the Hurricane and the HEMI isn't likely to end anytime soon—and that's because both engines have earned loyal supporters for different reasons.  The HEMI represents decades of proven performance, unmistakable character, and a reputation that many truck owners trust without hesitation. The Hurricane represents the next generation of Ram engineering, delivering impressive horsepower, abundant torque, and a level of performance that has surprised even many longtime V8 enthusiasts. If your heart says V8, you'll probably never stop smiling behind the wheel of a HEMI.  If your head says modern performance, stronger acceleration, and improved efficiency, the Hurricane deserves a serious look. Fortunately, today's Ram buyers don't have to rely on internet debates alone.  The best comparison happens behind the wheel. At Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat, we'll help you compare available Ram 1500 models, explain the differences between the Hurricane and HEMI powertrains, answer your questions, and arrange a test drive so you can decide which truck feels right for your lifestyle.

2024 Favorite Chrysler Vehicles

Mount Airy Vehicle Highlights

Fun Facts and What’s New About Your Favorite Cars, Trucks, and SUVs! 2024 RAM HD The 2024 Heavy Duty comes mostly unchanged, except for one small feature: the Tailgate Ajar warning light now comes as standard equipment for every Heavy Duty in the lineup. Three engine options are available with the new Ram Heavy Duty. First, there is a 410-horsepower, 6.4-liter V-8 that makes 429 pound-feet of torque (and is paired with an eight-speed automatic, which is the only transmission offered in the Power Wagon). Also offered is a 6.7-liter Cummins diesel inline-six in either rear- or four-wheel driving availabilities. The Cummins engine outweighs the V-8 by 490 pounds, but it doesn’t handle quite as well on smaller roads and around town, and compared to the V-8, the diesel is not as quick. Where it shines though is in its towing power. The Ram truck was first introduced in 1981, and it was meant to serve as anything from a comfortable family vehicle to a rugged work truck. As years went on, and with numerous awards won along the way, the Ram evolved to fit the ever-changing needs of the modern driver. Today the Ram has become a staple family/luxury/work vehicle that continues to impress and evolve. With both the Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 truck models growing in popularity, it’s worth taking a closer look into what makes each special. 2025 Ram 1500 Since the 2025 Ram 1500 model is set to receive some major updates, not many changes have been made to the 2024 model. The new 1500 will be offering multiple engine options, such as a 305-horsepower V-6 and a 395-horsepower V-8 that offers 12,750 pounds of towing. And of course, it comes with rear- or four-wheel-drive, and multiple cab options (regular-size, extended, and a large four-door crew) that can reach over six feet. Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat customers have found that the interior of the Ram 1500 has plenty of cubby storage and room for passengers to stretch and relax. Some of the higher trim levels come with luxurious features such as heated and ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, premium leather materials, and real wood accents. With an incredibly spacious crew cab, tons of storage, and a special split-folding tailgate, the 2024 1500 is tough to beat. And, though the Ram does not offer the 1500 as a regular cab any longer, the 1500 Classic will come as an optional regular cab for the purists out there. The Ram 1500 has always been noted for its superior safety features, and over the years these features have only become more refined. As we become more advanced, so do our vehicles, which means it’s important that the Ram pickup keep up with the times. 2025 RAM 1500 RHO Brand New this year, Ram introduced the Ram 1500 RHO: This new model is a high-output version of the Ram 1500, offering a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine with 540 horsepower. It’s designed to compete with the Ford Raptor and other high-performance off-road trucks and it does not disappoint. 2025 Ram 1500 REV Later in the year Ram expects to release their new electric pickup truck. Ram 1500 REV: It will have a range of over 500 miles and will be available in both single-cab and crew-cab configurations. 2024 Jeep Wrangler There have been a few new upgrades made to the 2024 Jeep Wrangler, such as a more modernized look and a mild upgrade to the tech features. There are also 10 new wheel designs to choose from. But, it’s the interior display of the Wrangler where we see most upgrades this year: a 12.3-inch Infotainment display now comes standard. This new display replaces the smaller 5.0- and 7.0-inch screens of the past while also offering Jeep’s latest Infotainment software including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. While navigating the onboard system, drivers can choose from any of the over 2,000 trail maps–and there is the ability to download even more. We wanted to test the performance of a few of the Wrangler trim levels here at Mount Airy Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Fiat. We started with the base-level Wrangler Sport. This V-6, six-speed manual transmission engine easily went from 0-60 mph in 6.1 seconds. Next, we drove the popular Sahara model with an automatic transmission, and it reached 60 mph in 6.8 seconds (the four-cylinder engine of the Sahara got to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds). Lastly, we drove the heavy-duty Rubicon model. This robust version of the Wrangler comes with all the bells and whistles, and we found it hit 60 mph in only 4.4 seconds! Other car companies may try, but nothing matches the look and performance of a Jeep Wrangler. To own one is to own an anomaly, something so unique it holds a class of its own. You can even customize your Wrangler to differentiate it from others by adding specialized lights, mirrors, a soft- or hard-top, lifting or lowering…the list of customizations to the Jeep Wrangler is endless. Chrysler Pacifica in 2024 There are only a few changes made to the Chrysler Pacifica in 2024. The Pacifica Pinnacle comes with a new Sepia interior color option, and Red Hot and Baltic Gray new paint colors have been added to the other Pacifica trim levels. One thing about the Pacifica we love is its easy cleaning. An optional vacuum cleaner comes built into the new Pacifica, and our technicians at Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Fiat had to test it. Honda has a similar feature in the Odyssey, but it’s placed way in the back and is difficult to access. When accessing the Pacifica’s Stow & Vac system, we noticed it is placed in the second row, which is a smart move since the second row is where most traffic comes and goes, especially on long road trips. The Stow & Vac was able to reach every corner of the Pacifica, and it did a wonderful job picking up dirt and crumbs. We give the Pacifica’s vacuum feature an A+. As in years past, the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica’s design is expertly laid out for optimum comfort. Its long body takes on a shape like that of a sporty SUV, only the Pacifica sits lower to the ground. This allows for easy access and plenty of room from the front of the cabin back to the trunk. The dual-panel moonroof over the second row, and the fixed-panel moonroof over the third row, provide natural lighting and a better view for the entire family. 2024 Dodge Durango This year, the Dodge Durango has a few changes made: the Citadel trim level will now offer the Tow N Go package, and an upgraded version of blind spot monitoring has been added throughout the Durango lineup. This new system knows when you are towing so it doesn’t get confused by the presence of your trailer just inches from your rear bumpe One area that needs no upgrading is the Durango’s media technology. Currently, the Durango’s Infotainment system that sits right above its dashboard is the best in the market. The base SXT and the mid-level GT Durango models come with an 8.4-inch display, while the Citadel and R/T models come with a 10.1-inch screen (this is also an option for the GT). No matter which size system you get, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard. There’s an option for a rear-seat infotainment system as well, which has dual screens, and it provides HDMI and RCA ports to connect more devices. This is a great feature for long trips with the family; imagine driving down the Blue Ridge Parkway from Mount Airy to Virginia with a Durango full of family, all watching their shows and listening to music–everyone is happy and, best of all, everyone is quiet. When Dodge first came out with the Durango, over 25 years ago, its body-on-frame construction was modeled after the Dakota truck. The Durango was a truck/SUV crossover that won over drivers with its rugged demeanor and semi-sporty shape. Over the years the Durango made slight alterations to design and construction, but it’s never lost its toughness. Today’s model, however, has managed to combine its hardy physique with a touch of something more refined and sophisticated, creating a furrowed luxury difficult to find anywhere else.

Trade in gasoline car for electric.

Trade Your Gas-Powered Car For A Hybrid Today!

We want your gas-powered car!  Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat is paying top price for gas-powered cars.  Bring yours in and get a great price and a new electric vehicle.  Trade In & Trade Up! The number of electric vehicles on the road increases every year. More families are making the jump from gas to electric vehicles because of advancements in technology and the availability of charging stations. Consumer attitudes are shifting as several states recently committed to phasing out gasoline-powered vehicles by 2035. “According to a survey done by JD Power, of June 2023, 63% of consumers are considering an EV, compared to 57% in 2021.” This transition is making some gasoline vehicle owners a little nervous about their car value, but not to worry because the folks at Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Fiat want to buy your gas-powered car. — The time to trade in your gas-powered car is now! Now’s the time to trade in and trade up with the Mount Airy CDJRF and secure an electric vehicle that’s ready for the future. Electric Vehicles — A Demand Like Never Before Electric vehicles have seen exponential growth, with some analysts predicting a complete flip from gasoline-powered cars to electric cars by 2050. While that may seem like a long time, we continue to see a phasing out of gas-powered cars year after year. “We expect global passenger EV sales — battery-electrics and plug-in hybrids — to increase 21% in 2024 to 16.7 million, with 70% of those being fully electric.” -McKerracher, Bloomberg News. The explosion in demand has, at times, driven up prices and left many families outside of the price range of an electric car. However; as of late, car manufacturers have worked hard to push down the price, increase the supply, and provide electric and hybrid options at prices comparable to their gasoline counterparts. Take, for example, the Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid, America’s first and only plug-in hybrid van. An already affordable vehicle, especially given all the features included in the model, it's the perfect family van. A great starting price, coupled with rebates, makes the Pacifica a competitive hybrid option. This review from Jason shows how happy that Chrysler Pacifica leaves families who join the hybrid wave — A Change in the Electric Landscape Finding a place to charge your car is easier than ever. Local and State Governments, alongside the Federal Government, are investing with the private sector to make it possible to find a place to charge on the go! Gone are the days when getting enough juice in your vehicle to make it to the next leg of your trip was nearly impossible. Nowadays, you’d be hard-pressed to find a stretch of highway without an electric charging potion. “Between 2015 and 2020, the number of EVSE ports more than doubled. In 2021 alone, the number of EVSE ports grew by more than 55%” - U.S Department of Energy Even in Mount Airy, electric customers can find over 43 locations to charge their electric ride. That’s a level of charge station participation that is almost level with the number of gas stations in the area! Goodbye, high gas prices, hello savings. Car manufacturers are ramping up the number of electric vehicles available to meet this advancement in infrastructure. Stellantis, the parent company of the brands available through Mount Airy CDJRF, has committed to having an all-electric lineup by 2035! Jeep, meanwhile, plans for 50 percent of its North American sales and 100 percent of its European sales to be electric by 2030. Those are just two examples of how the auto industry is shifting. Why Switch? While the benefits of electric cars are well known, it still may leave some readers thinking, “Why switch?” The resell value of a new electric vehicle future proofs your return on investment. And it would be better to get a good price on your gasoline-powered car while the trade-in money is good. Even with an increase in affordability, electric vehicles often cost more than their gasoline counterparts, leaving many firmly in the gasoline-powered camp. Still, that initial cost only tells part of the story. Those who own electric vehicles can expect to save thousands of dollars over their lifetime due to recurring costs like maintenance and fuel. “The typical EV owner saves $6,000 to $10,000 over the life of most such vehicles compared with a gasoline-only model, according to a Consumer Reports study from 2020.” - Icacuri, CBS News This easier time maintaining your vehicle also translates to less stress and time spent at the repair shop. As time goes on, we can only expect the demand and infrastructure tied to electric vehicles to increase, which means that the value of your car may one day surprise you! Other Perks of Going Electric So, electric vehicles are more affordable, have an easier time getting charged, and their inventory grows by the day. But what else can you expect from trading in your gasoline vehicle and switching to electric? How about a landmark tax rebate for those who switch to electric? Those who purchase an electric vehicle that’s made in America will find up to $7,500 in a tax rebate at the end of the year. That amount of money, on top of what you’ll make from a solid trade-in, and you’re looking at securing a brand-new electric vehicle for one of the most affordable prices ever. Many consumers cite the desire to be more environmentally friendly and reduce their carbon footprint as their main incentive for switching from gasoline to electric vehicles. And with vehicles being one of the biggest contributors to carbon emissions, you’ll be sure you’re doing your part when you switch to electric. Lastly, those with electric vehicles are free from worrying about oil changes – a huge bonus! The Advantage of Trading with Mount Airy CDJRF Countless dealerships would accept your trade-in, but few are ready to work hard to make the process as easy and beneficial for you as possible. That’s where Mount Airy CDJRF stands apart. With countless reviews expressing how positive the trade-in experience was, you’ll be hard-pressed to find another dealer who would be a better fit for trading in your gasoline-powered car. Take this review from Danny as an example — Our easy value your trade tool makes it easy to find out how much you’ll make on a trade-in. After you understand how much your trade will yield, you can jump over to the explore electric page offered by Mount Airy CDJRF.
