RAM 1500 vs Ford F-150 - A Practical Comparison for Mount Airy and Surry County Drivers

A Practical Comparison for Mount Airy and Surry County Drivers If you’re shopping for a RAM 1500 in Mount Airy, NC or comparing it to a Ford F-150 near Pilot Mountain, Galax, or anywhere in Surry County, you’re looking at two of the most popular full-size trucks in America. Both are capable. Both are widely available. Both have loyal followings. So instead of declaring a winner, let’s focus on what actually matters for drivers in Northwest North Carolina: How the truck fits your daily life. How the trim lineup is structured. And what long-term ownership really looks like. Understanding the RAM Trim Lineup The RAM 1500 offers a wide range of trim levels, giving buyers flexibility to choose a truck that truly fits their needs. That lineup includes: Tradesman Big Horn Laramie Rebel Limited Limited Longhorn Tungsten At first glance, that variety can seem extensive — but each trim serves a clear purpose. Tradesman and Big Horn are work-focused and value-oriented. Laramie adds comfort and upgraded technology. Rebel is built for off-road capability. Limited and Tungsten move into premium, luxury-level territory. Ford’s lineup (XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited) is organized differently, with fewer nameplates but more layered packages. The key difference is structure: RAM separates personality more clearly by trim. Ford builds upward by layering packages onto fewer trim names. Once explained in straightforward terms, many Mount Airy buyers find the RAM lineup easier to understand than it first appears. Reliability, Longevity, and Reputation In Northwest North Carolina, trucks aren’t short-term purchases — they’re long-term investments. Recent reliability studies show the RAM 1500 scoring very well in initial quality evaluations, with ratings in the high 80s in some industry assessments. The Ford F-150 has built a strong reputation for longevity, particularly with high-mileage trucks still on the road decades later. That reputation is supported by massive production volume and a broad parts ecosystem. At the same time, RAM trucks have been part of American farms, construction sites, and job sites for generations. The RAM nameplate has been in the market for decades, and today’s models continue that practical, working-truck identity with modern engineering improvements. Across Mount Airy, Cana, Pilot Mountain, and Surry County, you’ll see both brands still running strong well past 150,000 miles. Resale value remains solid for both trucks when properly maintained. For many local buyers, the decision often comes down to which truck feels built for the way they work and live — not just which one has the louder reputation online. RAM has earned a strong following among working-class buyers who value practicality, toughness, and straightforward performance. It’s widely seen as a capable, no-nonsense truck with a more refined ride than many expect. Ford carries enormous brand recognition and one of the largest nationwide service networks. Both have credibility. The choice is about fit. Common Owner Feedback: Where Each Truck Gets Criticized If you spend time on truck forums or owner discussions, you’ll see consistent themes for both brands. Some F-150 owners mention: Transmission tuning concerns in certain model years • Occasional electrical glitches in heavily optioned trims • Interior material durability complaints in lower trims • Higher repair costs on complex turbocharged engines On the other hand, some RAM owners mention: Infotainment issues in older generations Depreciation differences compared to Ford in certain years Fuel economy variations depending on engine choice Neither truck is flawless.  What matters most is which trade-offs align with your priorities and how you plan to use your truck in Mount Airy and the surrounding area. Ride Comfort and Interior Quality This is where many Mount Airy drivers notice a difference. The RAM 1500 uses a rear coil-spring suspension (with available air suspension in some trims), which many drivers describe as smoother during daily driving. If you’re commuting from Mount Airy to Winston-Salem, Driving Highway 52 regularly, Or navigating uneven rural roads around Surry County, that smoother ride can become noticeable over time. The F-150 delivers a solid, capable feel — particularly when loaded or towing — and some drivers prefer its traditional truck character. Interior-wise, many buyers find the RAM 1500 leans slightly more upscale in mid-level trims like Laramie compared to similarly priced F-150 trims. As always, preference matters more than paper specifications. Which Truck Makes More Sense in Mount Airy? Choose the RAM 1500 if: You value ride comfort for daily commuting. You appreciate strong recent reliability scores. You prefer a refined interior feel at comparable price points. You identify with a practical, working-man truck identity backed by decades of presence on American roads. Choose the Ford F-150 if: You prefer Ford’s powertrain lineup. You want access to one of the largest nationwide parts networks. You prefer the traditional F-150 driving feel and long-standing brand familiarity. Most truck buyers in Surry County use their vehicle for commuting, errands, weekend projects, and occasional towing — not daily max-capacity hauling.  In that scenario, comfort, durability, resale stability, and overall driving experience often matter more than headline towing numbers. Final Thought for Local Buyers Both trucks are strong options. The real difference becomes clear when you drive them on the roads you use every week — not just when you read spec sheets. If you’re comparing the RAM 1500 vs Ford F-150 in Mount Airy, NC, we’d be glad to walk you through the trim levels in plain language and help you see how each truck fits your daily routine. Whether you’re coming from Mount Airy, Pilot Mountain, Galax, Cana, or anywhere in Surry County, we can have a RAM 1500 ready for you to experience in person.

Use Artificial Intelligence to buy your next Used Car

How AI Can Help You Find the Right Used Car

Buying a used car used to mean long afternoons visiting dealerships, sorting through listings, and second-guessing your decisions. But with artificial intelligence (AI) tools now available to the public, the process is faster, smarter, and more personalized than ever before. If you’re in the market for a used vehicle, here’s how AI can guide you—step-by-step—to the right car and the right deal. Know What You Can Afford—Before You Shop Before you ever talk to a dealership or lender, AI can help you get a clear picture of your financial reality. Imagine plugging in a few details—your income, current debts, credit score, and ideal loan term—and receiving: A realistic price range for your used car Estimated monthly payments Financing options with competitive interest rates This puts you in a much stronger negotiating position. Walking into a dealership with a financing deal already in hand—or at least with solid estimates—can save you money and help you stay in control of the process. Match Your Life to the Right Car AI can take your lifestyle, preferences, and daily driving needs into account and match them with the vehicles most likely to fit your needs and budget. Whether you're a commuter, a parent, or a small business owner, an intelligent car-finding assistant can help narrow the field. Here are some helpful questions to answer to get matched with the right vehicle: What is your average weekly mileage? Do you drive mostly city, highway, or off-road? How many passengers do you typically carry? Do you need cargo space for work or hobbies? What fuel efficiency do you expect? What’s your ideal tech setup (Apple CarPlay, navigation, etc.)? Are safety features like lane assist or blind spot monitoring a must? How important is resale value to you? Do you plan to tow anything (boats, trailers, etc.)? AI tools can analyze these answers against massive databases of vehicle specifications and owner reviews to recommend makes and models that meet your real-world needs—not just your wishlist. Choose the Right Model Year Not all model years are created equal. Some cars get a major upgrade—or unfortunately, a downgrade—when a new model is introduced. AI can scan historical performance, reliability reports, and user feedback to flag which years were strong for a particular vehicle and which to avoid. For example, you might discover that a 2021 model had fewer recalls and better fuel efficiency than the flashier 2022 redesign. AI does the digging so you don’t have to. Stay Local for Peace of Mind Once you've locked in your ideal car, make sure you're buying it from a local dealership with a good service record. Why? If anything goes wrong or if the car isn't delivered in the condition you expected, you'll want to be able to bring it back—without driving across the state. A dealership like Click Mount Airy not only offers reliable used vehicles, but we also stand behind our cars with trusted service after the sale. Buying local also ensures that your future maintenance, inspections, and warranties are handled by people who know your vehicle—and your community. Don’t Rely on Just One AI Tool Every AI platform has its strengths, and no single one sees everything. To get the most accurate and well-rounded recommendations, it’s smart to search across multiple AI tools. Here are three to consider: Gemini (by Google) – Great for financial estimates and vehicle history data ChatGPT (by OpenAI) – Excellent for answering questions and comparing features CarGurus AI Assist – Focused on pricing, local inventory, and value analysis By comparing suggestions across platforms, you’ll spot more opportunities and avoid blind spots. In Summary: AI can help you: Understand your car-buying budget Match your needs to the right vehicle Choose the most reliable year Find the best local dealership Get second (and third) opinions from different AI sources At Click Mount Airy, we believe in blending the best of technology with the personal touch of a trusted, local team. Use AI to do your research—then come test drive with real people who care.

Trump Tariffs in the News - Buy A Used Car Now

Why Buy a Used Car Now: Understanding Auto Tariffs

Why Buy a Used Car Now: Understanding the Impact of Proposed Auto Tariffs on Vehicle Prices In the evolving landscape of the automotive industry, recent policy proposals have the potential to significantly influence both new and used car markets. One such development is President Donald Trump's announcement of a 25% tariff on imported vehicles and auto parts, set to take effect on April 3, 2025. This policy aims to bolster domestic manufacturing by imposing reciprocal tariffs on foreign goods. However, it also raises questions about the future pricing of vehicles, particularly in the used car market. Source:   CNN, New Your Post Anticipated Effects on New Car Prices The implementation of these tariffs is expected to lead to substantial increases in new car prices. Financial experts estimate that the average cost of an imported vehicle could rise by $5,000 to $10,000. This escalation is attributed to the additional costs manufacturers will incur due to the tariffs, which are likely to be passed on to consumers. The impact will be particularly pronounced for models that rely heavily on imported components or are entirely manufactured abroad. Source:   CBS, Reuters, Insider, New York Post Implications for the Used Car Market As new car prices climb, consumers may increasingly turn to the used car market as a more affordable alternative. This shift in demand is anticipated to drive up prices in the used car sector. According to industry analysts, used car prices could rise by thousands of dollars as a result of heightened demand. This trend mirrors past market behaviors where constraints in new car supply, such as during the pandemic-related semiconductor shortages, led to significant upticks in used car valuations. Source:   Investopedia. Expert Insights on Market Dynamics Industry experts have weighed in on the potential repercussions of the proposed tariffs: Mike Jackson, Chairman and CEO of AutoNation, the largest auto retailer in the U.S., has expressed concerns about the inflationary impact of the tariffs. He stated, "Automotive tariffs will make steel tariffs look like a company picnic. This will unleash a real trade war. The numbers are so much bigger. It will raise prices dramatically for consumers in the United States. It will be inflationary." Source:  Bloomberg, Spokesman Review, The Lewiston Tribune Peter Welch, President and CEO of the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA), warned of "serious unintended consequences" of tariffs on imported autos and parts. He emphasized that such tariffs would hurt the auto industry, customers, and the economy as a whole, leading to higher prices and fewer choices for consumer. Cody Lusk, President and CEO of the American International Automobile Dealers Association (AIADA), highlighted concerns over affordability and the broader economic impact on consumers and dealers. He noted that with the average price of a new vehicle now around $50,000, higher costs and rising interest rates are already squeezing consumer budgets. Patrick Anderson, CEO of Anderson Economic Group, emphasized that "these are cost increases that cannot be hidden from the consumer," suggesting that substantial portions of the increased costs will be passed along to consumers or lead manufacturers to halt production of certain models. Source:  CBS News, Potential Impact on Auto Repairs and Maintenance The tariffs are also expected to affect the cost of auto repairs and maintenance. Since many replacement parts are imported, a 25% tariff could lead to higher prices for components such as brake pads and batteries. Consequently, even consumers who choose to maintain their current vehicles may face increased expenses. Strategic Considerations for Consumers Given the anticipated price increases in both new and used car markets, consumers may need to reassess their purchasing strategies: Timing Purchases: Acquiring a used car before the full effect of the tariffs is realized could result in cost savings. As demand for used vehicles rises, prices are expected to follow suit. Evaluating Financing Options: With potential price hikes, exploring favorable financing options becomes crucial to mitigate the financial impact. Considering Vehicle Maintenance: Investing in comprehensive maintenance plans might be prudent to offset future repair costs, especially if parts prices increase due to tariffs. Conclusion The proposed 25% tariffs on imported vehicles and auto parts are poised to reshape the automotive market by increasing prices across both new and used car sectors. Consumers should stay informed about these developments and consider their timing and options carefully when making vehicle-related decisions. Engaging with reputable dealerships and financial advisors can provide valuable guidance during this period of market adjustment. Source:  CBS News, Market Watch, Insider

A Year of Surprises

The past two or so years have been full of surprises. Between economic swings, new monetary innovations, and once-in-a-lifetime events happening weekly, we’ve gotten used to seeing new records. Markets have seen new highs (and lows). Something like the state of the current housing market is a great example of these unique circumstances. Car sales are no different and, interestingly enough, used car sales have become stronger than ever. Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Fiat understands the value of your used car and is a dealership perfect for your potential trade-in. In 2021 average new car prices soared to a new high, traveling upwards at over 10% to get there, a result of the tried and true supply and demand. Kinks in the supply chain and an increase in demand have made car sales a world built for the seller. If you’ve been sitting on a used car, looking at it as a backup, you’re not alone. That extra car in your driveway could yield much more than you could imagine, and there’s never been a time like the present to list it. The State of the Used Car Market When saying that the market is one built for the seller, you could argue you’re understating just how easy it is to make money from a used car. Anyone who’s browsed a dealership, or even glanced at the price of new cars, sees prices that would shock the system. Those record new car prices are followed by record used car prices, a total increase across the board. The current average value for a trade-in is somewhere around $9,852, which is over an 88% increase from last year. Low-interest rates incentivize buyers to meet that average or possibly go beyond. Even more impressive, at the end of 2021, the average used car was selling for over $28,000! That cost was higher than some newer vehicles, especially new vehicles offered at a deal. This high price tag is looking destined to stay for some time. New cars frequently rely on countless parts that are a result of collaboration from many different manufacturers. Once production facilities shut down as the COVID-19 pandemic came closer to home, access to car parts became limited, causing the production to slow. One of the main culprits of the market’s slowing is the shortage of computer chips. Car manufacturers, computer companies, and other producers of modern technology fought over the limited supply of computer chips. That left new car production, one reliant on those chips, in an uncomfortable place, especially when it happened alongside an increase in demand for those new cars. That shortage won’t last forever, so if you’re looking to sell a used vehicle you should aim to do so soon. Still, playing catchup to the slowing in car production will take some time, so consumers can expect prices to stick around as long as catching up takes. Selling A Used Car Dealing with the financial responsibility of any major investment can be daunting, and selling your car isn’t too different. First, it’s vital you get your ducks in a row. It’s extremely important to make sure you have the necessary paperwork before thinking about selling your used car. A title is the most important component of transferring a car’s ownership. For those of you who may still owe money on your car loan, the lender will have your title. You’ll have to pay your loan balance in full before the title can be transferred to the car's new owner. In North Carolina, you only need a bill of sale when purchasing a vehicle from a car dealership. But if you’re out of state you may need to look into additional information before taking the leap on the listing. Obtaining maintenance and repair records is not a required step but likely one to guarantee you’ll get the most from your car, especially if you’ve invested a lot to keep it in great shape. Organized details of your vehicle's history can go a long way to make any potential buyers feel more secure in their purchase. Who To Sell To The leg work to prepare a car for sale is one thing; finding who to sell it to is a completely different animal. You could go to a car dealer, list the car on a local community classified, or go to a third-party website. Each option has its own unique benefits. With the demand for used cars ever-increasing, manufacturers, dealers, and individuals across the country may be looking to get their hands on your used ride. While you know you’ll have the proper audience, you also want the perfect buyer. Making sure you have responsible and trustworthy buyers is one of the most important aspects of used car sales. While you may be contemplating going about this endeavor on your own, as a way to ensure you’ll have your hands on all the profit, you’d be surprised at how difficult it can be. Listing your car on your own can provide quite the challenge. People scheduled for a meeting may never show up, you may encounter someone absolutely set on a low-ball offer, or even worse, you could invite a sketchy person to your home. Selling to a dealer absolves you of all of those responsibilities and removes the likelihood of those negative possibilities. Dealers know how to get the most for a trade-in. That allows them to offer you a good chunk of the pie. They can also detail and bring the car to an even better condition, giving you a higher ceiling for a selling price. But like anything, you’ll want to make sure it’s a dealership you can trust. Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Fiat is a dealership that can do a lot. With an intuitive “Value Your Trade” option you can get an estimate entirely online, making the process an easily accessible one. With overwhelmingly positive reviews, you can feel confident in getting the most out of your used car and the easiest road to a return on your initial investment. Why worry about the hassle of individual listing and marketing, the stress of the meetings and test drives? Eliminating that added pressure and going to a reputable dealer is the best way to get bang for your buck. If you’re still committed to the challenge of selling your car on your own, you still have options. Dealerships, like Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Fiat, and some 3rd party websites, offer handy valuing tools that can empower the rationale behind your pricing. Though after listing on your own there are a few important things to be cognizant of. Here are three handy tips for those selling a car on their own: Look at your potential buyers with some skepticism. Individuals who offer to buy the car without seeing it are an immediate red flag. Be careful of out-of-state checks or cashier’s checks; both are commonly used as a scam on sales by the owner. Maintain a paper trail. A concern you have that you wouldn’t have with a dealer is the possibility of a buyer taking advantage of vague paperwork. Something like rounding the miles on the odometer can keep liability on you, even when they’ve driven off. Finally, be calculated when you schedule a test drive or viewing. As a rule of thumb, try to meet in a public area, not your home or somewhere you frequent. Final Thoughts Whatever way you choose to list or part with your used car or truck, just know it’s the right time to sell. Making the decision to part with a big investment is a challenging one. I hope that this writing can provide you with a bit more confidence to navigate that decision. Whether you go about selling your car on your own or choosing a reputable dealer, be sure you protect yourself and your investment in the process. And who knows, after parting with your tried and true used car, you may be ready for a new one off the lot. Take care and happy selling! J. Dalton George

Tips and Tricks for Finding a Quality Used Truck

Without the proper guidance of a professional sales associate, it can be difficult in finding an affordable and worthy used pickup truck. This is why at Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram we make sure to always have a vast selection of used pickup trucks on-site and online for our customers to peruse at any time. Our knowledgeable team of associates keeps up with modern methods of buying quality used cars and trucks, and we don’t mind sharing a few key tips for you here. You need a truck but you don’t want to buy a brand new one. Whether you are going to use your truck to putt around the neighborhood or for your daily driver, it’s imperative you find something that will run for years to come without costing you an arm and a leg in surprise repairs. To get started with your search for that perfect used truck, there are a few procedures you can go through to help quicken the buying process. All the trucks on our lot have already gone through rigorous testing and checklists to make sure they are fit to be sold, so one quick and easy way to shop is to come and speak with one of our associates. We can help you narrow down what you want based on how you will use your truck—and we can have you driving off the lot the same day! But, if you want to find that hidden gem yourself, you want to go about it the right way. Used Truck Shopping The first thing you need to do is determine what your truck will be used for. Will you be hauling and pulling heavy loads, or will this truck hold tools and supplies? Narrowing this down can help you sift through your options more efficiently. Next, you need to find a truck that fits your price range. Decide on how much you can spend before looking for trucks (you will always end up spending more than you should otherwise). The process of deciding between trucks is much easier when you know exactly how much you are able to spend. It wouldn’t hurt to ask one of our sales associates about the types of warranties offered with used pickups you are interested in having a warranty. Some models might offer better warranty plans than others, which is something else that can help narrow your search. Buying used can be a great way to save money on a vehicle that you really want. It can also turn into an incredible hassle and cause you to spend way more than you wanted in repairs. So, how exactly does one keep from throwing money down the drain on a used truck? The savvy shopper ensures the purchase is worthwhile by doing his research. After all, nobody wants to buy someone else’s problems. Here are a few tips: Tip #1: First and foremost, it is necessary to check prices and reviews. By conducting a quick search on KBB or local dealership sites, you can make sure that the truck you want isn’t completely out of your price range. Next, check out the Consumer Report on the truck makes and models you are interested in (and this interest can be based on looks alone—go for what you really like). Research to see if the truck tends to keep its resale value. Also check to see if it scores high marks on things like transmission, engine, and other big expense items. Tip #2: Once you decide on the vehicle you want, for a price you can afford, go to Facebook Marketplace to begin shopping. Where people sell their used trucks (private parties and dealerships) changes periodically, and the trend as of late is to use Facebook. This is probably the best place to start, and the process for shopping is pretty straight- forward. If you find trucks you are interested in, check the vehicle history report. To do this, get the vehicle VIN number (you may have to contact the seller for this) and take it to AutoCheck or Carfax for a full history report. The fee for this is minimal and well worth the cost and time it takes, which isn’t long. If you find the truck has been in a wreck or has an unclear history, move on to another vehicle option or a different model of the same truck. Tip #3: Test-drive the truck. This is to allow you to get a feel for the way it drives. And this gives you an opportunity to see if there are any obvious problems like poor handling, strange noises, etc. If you find anything about the truck you don’t think you could live with, move on. (More on test drives in a minute.) Tip #4: You have found a truck you like. You did your research on the make and model and the test drive went well. Now what? Get the truck inspected. Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram has professional and well-trained mechanics that you can bring your truck to for a complete inspection, as well as, some solid advice on caring for that particular model. They will run a full report on how the truck currently drives and they can let you know of any possible future issues. The Art of the Test Drive When you go for a test drive, what exactly are you looking and listening for? (Is it really necessary to kick the tires?) The answer is anything and everything. You simply want to be aware: why does the left rear make a sound when I turn? I really like how smoothly the truck shifts between gears. Since you will most likely be spending a lot of time in this truck, make sure it has a smooth ride, nice handling, and a quiet cabin. And if it doesn’t, bring it back and find out what those worrisome areas are and if they can be fixed at a low cost—maybe you can even negotiate a reduced price. Many times shoppers make the mistake of using the test drive only to see if there is something wrong with the vehicle. While it is a good idea to keep an open ear for any clanking or knocking noises, it is also important to make sure this truck drives how you want it to. You are buying used, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be picky. (And no, you do not have to kick the tires.) Making the Right Choices When Buying a Used Truck One of the most important choices you can make when shopping for a used truck is to ask to see the service records and background check. This should happen before anything else since if anything comes back red flagged, you need to move on to another truck. Another good choice is to come to us with any questions you can’t find the answers to. We know it can be frustrating when trying to find a worthy truck—we go through the same processes when finding used trucks for our lot—and we want to help you any way we can, which is why we sell quality used trucks in the first place. Check Us Out Before you start researching and shopping, come see us at Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. The chances are good that we will have exactly what you are looking for. Facebook Marketplace: A New Way to Car Shop

Online shopping is nothing new, but shopping for a car on Facebook Marketplace is the wave of the future. Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat has a great selection of new and used vehicles for sale, and now you can check them all out from the comfort of your own home. Once upon a time, the idea of using a social media site to do any sort of serious business felt strange. Not so much anymore though, as we see plenty of wheeling and dealing on all kinds of sites—social media or other. It actually works out nicely. Social media, for better or worse, has become an integral part of our lives, so why not embrace it a bit more and do a little business, like buying a new or used car kind of business. You can save your results and favorite makes and models and contact others for advice and access in minutes an entire lineup of vehicles that would otherwise take you days to peruse. Facebook Marketplace is a smart way to buy a new or used vehicle, and at Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat we embrace the trend and are offering a huge selection of vehicles at ultra-low prices. Why Car Shop on Facebook Marketplace? Facebook’s marketplace first appeared back in 2007 as an alternative to Craigslist for buying and selling, listing jobs, etc. But then in 2014 it mysteriously disappeared only to return two years later. In 2016 Marketplace was reinvented as a platform focused on buying and selling locally. This new, and improved, marketplace served over 500 million people in the years to come, and a lot of those people were buying vehicles. In 2017, Facebook collaborated with Cars.com in order to entice dealerships to work with Marketplace more regularly in order to draw more car shoppers to Facebook rather than Craigslist or Autotrader. So far this has worked incredibly well for both Facebook and dealerships like us. Facebook is able to vet each dealership that works with its Marketplace—making sure all advertisements and sales are honest and accurate. This way, buyers know that what they are looking at is currently on our lot and that the vehicle is exactly as advertised. A huge benefit to using Facebook Marketplace for car shopping is due to what’s called Social Sales Drive. This new product utilizes proprietary artificial intelligence technology to create virtual conversations with shoppers any time they are on the site. Using Facebook Messenger, Social Sales Drive is able to do something most other car-buying sites can’t: create clear online communication between dealerships and customers at any time. These virtual conversations are created by managing queries from shoppers after they find a vehicle they like on the site. Here’s exactly how it works: Through Cars.com, our dealership shares our entire inventory to Facebook Marketplace. The customer then visits Marketplace looking for a new or used vehicle. Once the customer finds something he likes, he contacts the dealership through Facebook Messenger or click-to-call from the VDP of the chosen vehicle. Then the proprietary AI-powered chatbot, named “Ana Bot,” gives the shopper real-time answers to any inquiries on the vehicle—and this is available at any time on any day of the week. The benefit of this type of car shopping is that dealerships don't miss an opportunity to serve a customer and you, the customer, can get detailed information on any car at literally any time. Now, when the customer heads to the dealership, he already has a vehicle picked out and is ready for a test drive. It really doesn’t get much easier to buy a car than that. What We Have to Offer Presently, we have plenty to offer on Facebook Marketplace. To begin shopping, once you access Marketplace you can specify the details to the type of vehicle you are   looking for, such as the body style, make, model, mileage, production year, etc. Or, you can simply begin scrolling through the photos until something catches your eye. Here are a few of the great deals you will find on our Facebook Marketplace: 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport at $24,850. 2018 Jeep Renegade Altitude for $16,300. 2016 Chrysler 200 Limited for only $12,450. 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Coupe at $31,523. Plus there are plenty of 2019 models both new and used. Each option, once clicked on, enhances so you can get all the details you need—and don’t forget to chat with Ana Bot about any information you can’t seem to find.   Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat is excited about making your car buying experience easier and more informative than ever. Visit our Marketplace site on Facebook today (or tonight or at two in the morning) then come see us in person to find that car you have been looking for.

Car Cost: Just How Much Should You Spend?

It’s a big decision buying a car. Not only do you need to make sure it fits your lifestyle, you also need to make sure: it’s not a lemon; that it has a decent warranty; you research the trim level needed most; you make sure it fits in your budget, and the list goes on. It’s a lot of work, but the time you put in up front will greatly benefit you in the long run—and that’s the goal isn’t it, to keep your new addition to the family running for a long, long time. According to a 2017 article in Business Insider, Warren Buffett—you know, the guy who is worth somewhere around 84.4 billion dollars—always buys his vehicles at a reduced rate. Actually, what he does is he finds one that has had some minor damage (hail, fender-bender, scrapes and dents, but never anything too serious), purchases it for a fraction of the true cost then has it repaired. He then drives said car until the wheels fall off or his daughter is too embarrassed to ride with him, whichever comes first. So why does a man who could buy every vehicle in America choose to hunt for bargains when he car shops? Because it’s worth it in the end. Within the sea of vehicles out there, and the fluctuating prices of those vehicles, major deals can be found. It just takes a little time and effort. How Much is Too Much? Respected moneyman, Dave Ramsey has a lot to say when it comes to making the big decisions in life, such as buying a home or a car. Here is what Mr. Ramsey had to say about purchasing a car in a question-answer section of his website: “The total value of all your vehicles—things with a motor in them—should not be more than half of your annual income. If you make $50,000 a year, you shouldn't be driving a $40,000 car. That's stupid. Why? Because they all go down in value. You're putting money in something that goes down in value, and you need to be able to financially absorb that loss without it crippling you.” Now this might be a little hard to swallow for some. It’s nothing to see a price tag of $40,000 hanging from a car, but it does seem silly to spend more than half your annual income on something you could get for much less. Why are so many people willing to pay inflated prices? Because it’s easy, and because they just don’t know any better. Dave goes on to say, “Cars lose 70% of their value in the first four years. When you turn $30,000 into $11,000, you need to be able to absorb that hit. That's about $100 a week, by the way. Let's pretend there's a bizarre circumstance where you don't have a lot of income, but you have $10 million in real estate. Then we might use a different formula. If you're worth $10 million, then you can probably afford a nicer car than your income would indicate. As a general rule, your income is a good indicator of your financial juice, so you have to think about how much you're going to put toward something that's going down in value. Rich people don't put a large percentage of their lives in things that are going down in value. That's how they became rich. We're going to buy on a ratio of our financial situation. We're not going to buy a new car—ever—until you're worth at least $1 million. You're not going to have the total of all your vehicles ever—except in very rare circumstances—be over half of your annual income. That tells you if you can afford to do something like this.” Aha, so that’s why Warren Buffett refuses to pay full price for his cars—vehicles typically go down in value, not up. This is all the more reason to make sure what you are buying is what’s best for you, whether it be a family-van, pickup truck, or a sporty Jeep Wrangler, you want to make sure the purchase is worth it in the long haul and that you aren’t spending too much of your annual income. The True Cost of a Car Though it’s true the value of a new car drops the moment it is driven off the lot, as long as you aren’t breaking the bank to buy it, it could still be worth the price, and the drop in price, just so long as you have done the research and you know you can afford the (true) cost of the vehicle. Here are a few hidden car costs that (non-savvy) buyers often fail to calculate: Financing Charges. Paying for a car in cash is usually your best option, but let’s be honest, how many people are actually able to do this—besides are friend, Warren Buffett? For those of us who do need to get a bit of financing, it’s important to note that throwing at least a little cash as a down payment can drastically reduce the monthly cost. It might also be a good idea to try and extend the loan and try and find the lowest interest rate. These are numbers and scenarios you will need to spend some time going through, and it could take time—which is why most car buyers don’t bother looking into the myriad was a car can be financed. Do your research and take your time, it will be worth it. Tax Credits. “Hybrids and electric cars seem great, but they cost so much!” We hear this all the time, and there is some truth to it—but there’s more to it than that. Yes, you will pay more initially for these types of vehicles, but you do save on gas and energy while you own the car. And that’s not all: you can also receive plenty of national, state, and local tax credits that can completely justify that hefty price tag. Buying these vehicle used can help drive the price down as well. Insurance Premiums. Car insurance, after the initial price of the car, is usually where you will spend most money. The problem is companies charge different premiums depending on the type of car you buy. And it’s not just the make and model of car you get, these premiums are also based on the style—that is trim level, body style, etc. Usually, specialty vehicles (performance-oriented) have higher premiums, but it’s difficult to tell just how much you will be paying until you play around with the numbers and vehicle types. insure.com is a great website with a calculator that can help you crunch the numbers and find the best price for the car you want to purchase. Maintenance and Repair. Though cars these days are usually able to go longer than ever without having maintenance and repair, every car driver knows there will be a need to take the car in for work to be done, whether it’s minor or major repairs. Because of this, it’s important to spend time going over warranty options. Luckily, at Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat, we will not only provide you with all your warranty options, we also have expert technicians who can do any maintenance and repair on site. Quick Tips: Three Important Factors For Buying a Car We know buying a car can be tricky. When living in a city such as the size of Charlotte, things can become daunting pretty quickly. Everyone has an opinion on what you should buy, how much it should cost, and so on. Then there’s the risk: what if it breaks down? What if I don’t end up liking it, or it isn’t the right fit for the family? Though the risks taken can often be scary, they can also be minimized, or even eliminated, simply by following a few basic rules. #1 Research the Car You Want Spend time cruising around the Internet doing some fact-finding—look especially for things to watch out for in conjunction with your specific make and model—and narrow down your search as you go. Read through comparison guides and reviews on sites such as www.kbb.org and www.caranddriver.com. You can also find reviews and blogs of used vehicles on various dealer websites (such as ours!). Once you find what you like, stay firm in the “must haves” (such as manual or automatic transmission, number of miles if buying used, engine size, etc.), but also be willing to budge on the smaller things. There is plenty of information out there, you just have to take the time to find it. #2 When Possible, Have Cash in Hand When out looking for possible winners, it’s a good idea to have the cash ready. You never know when someone will swoop in and overbid the car while you’re off to the bank. Also, it’s tough to turn down cash, making the possibility for you to underbid a little better. If purchasing from a dealership, don’t rely on the dealer to find you the best financing—that is, unless you shop at Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, where we can help find you the best rated financing around. If you need it, spend time finding the best borrower percentage rates, and where to get them. #3 Get a Professional Opinion It can be time consuming taking a possible car purchase to a trusted mechanic, but it’s well worth it—in fact, it’s probably the most important thing you can do. No matter what the vehicle history says, or how you felt during the test drive, why not take the time and pay the $50-$100 it takes to have a professional scour through every inch to find anything potentially wrong or worrisome? There are plenty of shops in Charlotte that are trustworthy and fairly priced, but if you don’t “have a guy,” our technicians at Mount Airy are your best option. They know our cars inside and out and will relay every bit of pertinent information to you—no secrets, no hidden agendas. We want you to be happy. There are two types of car shoppers we see on the lot. There are the ones who are a little nervous with blank faces and sweaty palms. They haven’t done the necessary research and they are hoping the best scenario for them just happens to reveal itself—which we all know does not usually happen. Good things come to those who work for them, which perfectly defines the second type of car shopper we see. This group is confident and exited. They know they are about to save a lot of money and drive off the lot with the car of their dreams. Simply put, they have done their research. You see, at Mount Airy, we want the same things you do: a low-cost, well-built car that will last for years to come. Come see us today and let’s find your new car. Get It Before It's Too Late! Best Offers of the Season at Mount Airy CDJFR

You kicked off the season getting stuffed at Thanksgiving, survived Black Friday shopping, and now you are full swing into the holidays. So what’s next? If you’re in the market for a new or used vehicle, you are definitely after the lowest prices possible. The magic of the holiday season is all around, which is why we’re excited to tell you about the lowest prices you can find all year here at Mount Airy CDJRF. It’s the coldest season of the year with the hottest deals. Customers are always looking for a way to strategize their shopping to get the best deals. On Black Friday, everyone has their sights set on major purchases like 4K flat-screen televisions, which is why it is actually worth heading out to the lines and experiencing some minor aggression to save hundreds. Car dealerships are no different, except luckily for you, there are no lines to wait in, no fellow customers to fight, excellent customer service at your service, and the only aggression you will experience is from the aggressive discounts on year-end sales. Why is it good to buy at the end of the year? It isn’t really insider knowledge that the end of the year is the best time to buy a vehicle. Automakers and dealer incentives overlap on for the end of quarter and year sales, meaning the best discounts on the most popular models. Sales people are incentivized with financial bonuses, meaning the more they sell, the more they make, offsetting any discount given on a single vehicle. The triad of great deals and rich incentives from dealerships converges nearing the end of December. Basically, this means that everyone wins; sales people are incentivized to sell more vehicles, thus giving the making the best and cheapest deals of the year, and customers are receiving the best possible savings! Beyond just our word, the data backs it up. According to Edmunds.com, the most discounted months for buying a vehicle are October, November, December, but December is truly the best time of the year to buy. December has the year’s highest discount off MSRP, coming in a 6.1 percent on average, and the highest incentives offered by dealerships. Purchasing at the end of the month in December, which is in combination with the end of the quarter and annual goals, adds up to an average of 8.3 percent savings on a new vehicle. On top of that, dealerships tend to have the largest inventory in December, with vehicles for the New Year coming in. With the prior model-year cars remaining on the lot, dealerships are ready to move older inventory out to make space for the new. This is why you will find the biggest discounts on the 2018 models. In the case of Year-End Sales, timing can save you thousands! Higher-end models, for less! It may go without saying, but because prices are lower, you can upgrade more than ever before. The amenities that might have been just out of your budget are now within your grasp. Heated leather seats for those cold, morning commutes? Add it on! New vehicle for the New Year = new you! What better way to start the New Year than with a new vehicle to get you driving off to a fresh start? If you are looking to buy in January, there’s no need to wait 11 months to get a good deal. December is the best month to purchase a vehicle! We’ve included some of the most popular 2018 models below for you to check out. What would look good with a bright red Christmas bow on it? Picture this: the vehicle of your dreams sits in your driveway as you wake up on Christmas morning, wrapped in a bright, red bow. That’s right, it’s the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a trail rated luxury SUV, combining the rugged appeal of Jeeps with a refined interior charm. The beauty of the Grand Cherokee is that it blends perfectly between off-roading and city utility. Cruising in this SUV is designed for comfort, with adult-friendly seating in the front and back seats, as well as plenty of cargo space in the back. It comes standard with Bluetooth, USB ports, a 115-volt power outlet, rear parking sensors, a 7-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, and a heated steering wheel. One of our favorite features is the power liftgate, which is there to help you easily load up your supplies and gear for your next adventure. What about a sleek ride for New Years? We’ve got you covered. We recommend the new 2018 Dodge Challenger at only $40,725 and it comes in a stunning red exterior that will be sure to turn heads. Kelley Blue Book describes the 2018 Challenger as, “Whether you want to go fast or not, the 2018 Challenger is a terrific looking car, with clean lines that blend classic proportions with modern design.” To this, we would add that the design of the 2018 Challenger is extremely intimidating, but the insides offer an aggressive and serious performance. You will take over the streets with the TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission and one of the most powerful engines on the market. In addition, the Challenger has a surprisingly spacious second row and abundant trunk space. The 2018 Challenger is an impressive, yet practical sports car that delivers raw power. What if I want a ride in style that won’t break the bank? The 2018 Fiat 500 Pop is not only adorable, but prices in at only $15,785. You can also finance for only $197 a month! This classically Italian styled car is a great choice for those who want a small car with a bold performance. This hatchback comes standard with 16-in alloy wheels, fog lights fuller power accessories, heated mirror, a backup camera, Bluetooth capabilities, two USB ports, and an Uconnect touchscreen interface. As for safety, it comes standard with stability control, 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, and seven airbags in the front, front-side, driver-knee, and full-length side-curtain. With increased horsepower from prior Fiat 500’s, the Pop handles tight spaces easily and gracefully. You’ll love every inch of this car, from the ride to the charming, retro design. What about April? What sounds like calling out an oddly specific month is actually something to keep in mind. To our off-roading fans, we see you! The trails may be closed for the season now, but we’re thinking ahead, too. 2018 was an extremely exciting year for Jeep fans with the release of the 2018 Wrangler. Depending on the build you want, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler delivers on price and power. Now, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport is only $32,465, or financed for $405/month. With a 6-speed manual transmission and 5 models to choose from, you’ll be styling and in control on the road. The 2018 Wrangler brought this beloved off-roading vehicle into the modern, everyday use with a 35% city fuel improvement and state-of-the-art technology and connectivity. This vehicle looks effortlessly cool whether it’s as shiny and new as it is on our lot now, or in a few months when it’s covered in mud from heading off-roads. April is too far into the future. I’m only thinking about snow; show me four-wheel drive options. With forecast of snow as early as this first week of December in North Carolina, it is not overreacting to get prepared ahead of time. We know that in most parts of North Carolina, snow equals both rural and citywide shutdowns due to the lack of resources to clear the roads. However, with a new four-wheel drive vehicle, you will not even think twice about heading out to the store for your staple snow valuables of bread and milk. Cue the 2018 RAM 3500. At $49,485, the 2018 RAM 3500 is everything you ever wanted in a truck. The 2018 RAM 3500 comes with 6-Speed Manual G-56 transmission, Uconnect 5-Inch Display, 17-inch dual rear wheels , a ParkSense Rear Park-Assist System, and Trailer Brake Control. This diesel engine and automatic transmission yields monumental torque, but has a comfortable and quiet ride. This heavy duty truck is all about towing, hauling, and bed capacity. If you’re looking for safety on and off the road, the RAM 3500 is for you. What if I want a new 2019 model? If you’re ready to leave 2018 behind entirely, we support you 100% in your new year’s resolutions. While we have amazing discounts on this year’s 2018 models as we move them off the lot, you better believe that we are already bringing in 2019 model vehicles. For those interested in the car industry, the months in recent past have revealed the latest new models in the spotlight, bringing forward exciting new trims, features, and technologies. What if I’m still mentally recovering from Black Friday? We haven’t mentioned this before, but our Black Friday deals, specifically the retail bonus cash is still in full swing. We don’t expect you to choose between the one-day Black Friday deals on TVs and laptops and coming to the dealership; we love our customers so much that we extend Black Friday deals throughout December. Take the new 2019 RAM 1500 Big Horn/Lone Star Crew Cab 4x4, for example. The 2019 RAM 1500 goes for $48,220, but between $1000 Black Friday Bonus Cash and other savings totaling in at $10,150, you’re only paying $38,070. $10,000 is savings is no joke! The 2019 Ram 1500 was fully redesigned with reduced weight, and increased payload and towing capacity, plus more rear-seat space and a new mild hybrid power system. You won’t be able to feel the difference between the smooth-riding suspension of the 2019 Ram 1500 and a luxury sedan; this cabin delivers sensible comfort and quiet as its top priorities. But it’s not all work with no play; the 2019 Ram 1500 also promises on its off-roading capabilities, and you’re sure to have a great time in the dirt and mud. The economy of America in 2019 is uncertain, but you know what you can count on? Despite political leanings or even if you do not want to be involved with politics, it is hard not consider that 2019 could bring tariff conflicts with China. This would mean new car prices increasing drastically, alongside rising interest rates. What you can count on are the savings you can get right now at Mount Airy CDJRF! Jeep Wrangler Sale

Mount Airy CDJRF Celebrates Black Friday Early, Sales Are On Now!

More and more often buyers are opting out of sedans and coupes and choosing pickups and SUVs as their new luxury vehicles. Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat’s inventory is geared up for for those who demand high-end amenities, top trim levels, and additional upgrades. This time of year you can get more for your money with 2017 and 2018 models, which are on sale now in order to make room for incoming 2019s. It's an especially great time to look at high-end Jeeps and Rams. What defines a step up to the luxury automobile market? These days, it’s about 50K. “According to research firm J.D. Power and Associates, $50,000 is the slightly blurry line between mainstream and luxury in today's auto market,” reports CNBC. At Mount Airy CDJRF, you’ll find the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 4x4 with its leather-trimmed bucket seats, Alpine premium audio system, keyless entry, back-up camera, privacy glass, LED lighting, steel bumpers, and the 2.0L I4 DOHC Turbo eTorque engine. “Jeep didn't just keep the charm in the 2018 Wrangler,” writes Road and Track magazine. “The automaker enhanced it, made it easier to access the joys that a no-roof, no-doors 4x4 has always promised. The result is amazing.” The 2018 Wrangler makes owning a Jeep perhaps even more fun because it’s even easier than before. The pop-off doors weigh less, the canvas top is no longer a jangle of zippers, and the technology and infotainment are modern amenities designed to still work despite mud and rain. “You won't find any drastic departures from the original recipe here: The axles are still solid, the roof and doors still come off, the body still bolts to the frame,” says Road and Track. “Everything that makes people exuberantly, irrationally love the Wrangler is still here. It's just been finessed in a way that won't jostle a die-hard's sensibilities.” The Rubicon is made for heading off road right off the lot. The next in line trim model, the Sahara, is a bit more every-day drive style than dirt slinger. “With body-color fender flares, the Sahara has a sleeker and more uniform appearance,” writes CP Pony Parts. “Deep tint sunscreen windows add some extra privacy and style. Power heated mirrors keep you safe in the winter and don’t sacrifice visibility. A grille that matches the body color and has fine silver metallic accents graces the front of the vehicle.” Add in the embroidered seats and 18-inch wheels to options like a body-color, three-piece hard top, anti-spin differential rear axle, turbo charger, and rollover protection system, and the Sahara is dressed to impress. Also in our top-of-the-line selection is the 2018 Ram 2500. The Laramie Longhorn Mega Cab 4x4 with a 6’4” box is on sale now with nearly $11,000 in savings. It is a beast of a truck with a 6.7L I6 Cummins Turbo Diesel, 5th wheel towing, off-road package, cargo view camera, anti-spin differential rear axle, plus premium leather bucket seats with heating and cooling, keyless entry, sunroof, privacy glass, suede headliner, walnut veneer, and more. The Laramie Crew Cab, Big Horn Crew Cab, and Tradesman round out the 2500’s offerings, and we have the 2018 3500 Tradesman (even one as a manual with an 8’ box). The 3500 can tow up to 31,210 pounds, which is more than Ford. “The Ram HD proves there’s no substitute for good, old-fashioned power and capability,” writes Car and Driver. “Despite an aging architecture, this heavy-duty pickup has a trim for every trade and a powertrain for every preference.” Need a commercial truck? The 2018 Ram 4500 Tradesman Chassis Crew Cab 4x4 is it. Built to haul, this no-nonsense turbo diesel comes with an electronically controlled throttle, 5.0 touch screen display, integrated voice command with Bluetooth, satellite radio, back-up camera, front and rear assist parking system, remote keyless entry and more for around $60,000. While pick-up trucks and SUVs may be commanding the market right now, there’s something to be said for the all-American sports car and a big engine that goes fast. Get in and get at the gas in a 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack for around $48,365. The 6.4L Hemi V8 with performance tires and the Shaker package, comes with perks like a heated steering wheel, leather-wrapped shift knob, remote start, foldaway mirrors, and a 5-year SiriusXM subscription. We’ve got one in Granite and one in Pitch Black. Which one is the one for you? If you’re looking to save a little more, our 2018 Challenger in TorRed is listed right now at $40,725. Year-end clearance sales aren’t just for saving on high-end models. Buyers can save even on vehicles priced less. Best Back To School Cars

Best Back To School Cars: New vs. Used

Before you buy your next back to school car, you should know that there are benefits to buying new and used. And at Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram we have plenty of options for each, whether you want a small sedan or a large SUV. As the beginning to the school year fast approaches, you need to decide on a vehicle. You need something safe, reliable, and good on gas. But should you buy new or used? Let’s look at some of the benefits to each. The biggest draw to going used is price. Buying a used car is most often less expensive than buying new, especially for smaller sedans like the Dodge Dart or the Chrysler 200. Both are wonderful options for driving back and forth to school, and both have price tags that drastically drop once they are used. Another reason to buy used is the rate of depreciation. Though cars typically continue to depreciate year after year, the biggest decrease in value takes place as soon as you drive a new car off the lot. So buy purchasing a used car, you are getting a vehicle that has already experienced its most drastic depreciation, and on someone else’s dollar. On the other side of this, the draw to buying your back to school car new is the warranty. Especially for those of you with longer drives, a new car comes with the peace of mind that you will be covered if something goes wrong. And, buying a 2016 Dodge Dart or Chrysler 200, you will be able to pick and choose specific features and trim styles to make sure you get exactly what is best for you. Another plus to buying new is you have more options for financing. Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram provides excellent finance options, particularly on small sedans. From Bristol, VA to Winston-Salem, NC, Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram has the best options of both used and new vehicles. Come on in today and find your back to school car.
