What’s New for Chrysler?

Let’s start with one of America’s classic car brands. Here’s the low-down on what 2023 means for Chrysler:

Chrysler 300

The Chrysler 300 Touring (the entry-level trim) now comes with the SafetyTec Plus Group as an option. The driver assistance suite comes with automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and many other safety features. The safety package is still available on the other trims (Touring L, 300S V6, and 300S V8).

All Chrysler 300 models come with a reliable transmission, powerful engines, and ample passenger space. The vehicle hasn’t seen a design overhaul in some time, but fans still flock to its classic appearance.

Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In

While there haven’t been any notable changes to the 2023 Chrysler Pacific Plug-In, it remains one of the most innovative minivans on the market and arguably the most attractive. The model comes in Touring L, Limited, and Pinnacle versions, and you’ll get 32 miles of all-electric driving range with any trim you choose.

One advantage that the Pacifica plug-in has over its standard sibling is better acceleration. It also happens to be the only PHEV minivan in the industry, and it provides a wealth of intuitive and functional features. With this model, it’s clear that Chrysler sought to provide solutions to the most prominent issues families face on daily commutes.

What’s New for Dodge?

Dodge has made no secret that it’s headed to an all-electric future, and if the brand lives up to expectations, drivers won’t miss much about the gas-powered models of today. That said, there are plenty of powerful, attractive, and overall impressive Dodge models worth considering in 2023:

Dodge Hornet

Many car fans remember when Dodge released the Dart sedan in 2013 (which it discontinued in 2016). The brand hasn’t produced an all-new model since then — until now. The subcompact crossover Dodge Hornet releases with two available variants, each coming with its own powertrain.

The Hornet GT is powered by A turbocharged 2.0L in-line four that produces around 265 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque; the engine is matched with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The Hornet R/T provides a PHEV setup that includes a(n):

  • Turbocharged 1.3L four-cylinder
  • Electric motor
  • 15.5 kWh battery pack
  • Six-speed automatic transmission.

This model delivers 285 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. The EV driving range is 30 miles. And you can gain a temporary 25-horsepower boost with the PowerShot function.

No matter the trim, the 2023 Dodge Hornet comes with all-wheel drive, a 10.25-inch infotainment system touchscreen with Uconnect 5, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Available features include a 14-speaker Harman Kardon, audio system, heated seats and steering wheel, a full safety suite, rain-sensing wipers, and more.

Dodge Challenger

The legendary dodge challenger is back for 2023. Drivers can still opt for the SRT superstock, which comes with a supercharged 6.2 L V8 engine that’s good for 807 hp. Some other trims have received a new engine (SXT, SXT AWD, GT, and GT AWD — a 3.6L V6 that yields 303 hp.

Here are some of the other trims and engines available in 2023:

  • R/T: 5.7L HEMI V8 (375 hp)
  • R/T Scat Pack: 6.4L HEMI V8 (485 hp)
  • SRT Hellcat and SRT and Hellcat Redeye: 6.2L HEMI (717 hp)

The 807-hp option comes with the Jailbreak package, available on the SRT Hellcat and SRT Hellcat Redeye.

Dodge Durango

In 2021, Dodge released the Durango SRT Hellcat but discontinued it for 2022. It’s back for 2023 with it’s 710 -hp supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 engine. The Durango SRT 392 offers a 6.4L HEMI V8 that produces 475 hp and 8,700 pounds of towing. If you’re looking for a more sensible trim for your family commutes, the Durango SXT, GT, and Citadel variants are excellent options.

What’s New for Jeep?

It seems like added capability is Jeep’s theme for 2023, as most of its SUVs and trucks have received updates, including new powertrains and equipment. New exterior paint options and packages are sure to please too!

Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is about as off-road-ready as they come, and it now comes standard with Jeep’s 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain. The 2.0L turbo-four and two-motor AWD system combine for 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. The 2023 Trailhawk 4xe also replaces 2022’s Neutral Gray exterior accents with Gloss Black.

Jeep Compass

There’s a lot to be excited about with the 2023 Jeep Compass. The compact crossover receives a wealth of new standard features, including:

  • A 2.0L turbocharged in-line four (200 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque)
  • An eight-speed automatic transmission
  • Four-wheel drive
  • A 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen

If you’ve been a fan of the Compass and simply wanted a more powerful engine, any of the 2023 variants should satisfy!

Jeep Gladiator

A new Freedom special edition is available for the 2023 Jeep Gladiator. It comes with steel rock rails, winch-ready steel front and rear bumpers, LED headlights and foglights, and other capability-boosting features. The Gladiator Freedom boasts body-colored fender flares, an Oscar Mike badge, and black wheels and accents. The cabin includes cloth seats with leather trim and black stitching.

Drivers get two new exterior paint colors on the 2023 Gladiator: an aqua-gray Earl, and a neon-yellow High Velocity that replaces Snazzberry). All Gladiator trims feature An American flag decal on the front fenders. The Willys variant has newly standard features in a 7.0-inch instrument cluster screen, a universal garage door opener, keyless entry, and remote start. And the Gladiator High Altitude is more capable than ever with a forward off-road camera, winch-capable steel front bumper, and steel rock rails now standard.

What’s New for Ram?

As we anticipate the arrival of the Ram all-electric truck in the coming years, the auto brand hasn’t made any major departures with its 2023 models. However, that’s not to say there haven’t been any notable upgrades. Here are the details on what 2023 Ram buyers can look forward to:

Ram 1500

The Ram 1500 has been loaded with all kinds of awards for several years, so it’s a good thing it has uncompromising payload and towing capacities! The truck gets a new variant in 2023: the Limited Elite edition. As the most luxurious Ram available, this top trim is based on the standard Limited version and adds premium leather, heated and ventilated 12-way front seats, a jeweled rotary shifter, a multi-function tailgate, a deployable bed step, and several other rich features.

All higher 1500 models now come with an optional 12.3-inch frameless digital instrument cluster, and the entire lineup comes standard with an LED hitch lamp, a sanitizing UV glove box light, and a rear-seat reminder. 2023 sees the return of the Ram Red edition, and you can now get the Selec-Speed Control system on more trims. The Off-Road group — available on the Laramie, Longhorn, and Limited — includes new 22-inch all-terrain tires.

Ram 2500/3500

Only a few updates have been made to the 2023 Ram 2500 and 3500, but the changes are significant. The 2023 Ram 2500 and 3500 now offer redesigned telescoping tow mirrors and a new camera system that includes the Trailer Tow pages app (which offers behind-trailer, blind-spot, and several other views).

Drivers also get the Trailer Reverse Steering Control system — a new feature that uses driver-entered measurements to help a camera accurately track trailer position and control the steering wheel. Other notable upgrades include an optional fully digital instrument cluster, digital rearview mirror, and Mopar performance hood on Laramie and Limited trims.

Ram ProMaster

Of all the Ram models, the ProMaster gets the most upgrades in 2023. The full-size van sports an attractive front facia with LED headlights and fog lights, and you can now choose from three roof heights, one of them being a super-high roof with best-in-class cargo volume.

You can also get a new roll-up garage-style rear door, a Spitfire Orange or Ceramic Gray exterior paint, new alloy wheels, and a black appearance package on the ProMaster. The van gets parallel-perpendicular park assist as well. And we have the electric ProMaster arriving later in the year to look forward to!
