“Tis the season for giving back and both the Scott McCorkle Mount Airy Auto Dealerships gave back this season! Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Mount Airy Toyota generously supported the Toys for Tots campaign this year. “We offered our customers additional discounts when they donated a toy to Toys for Tots,” explains owner Scott McCorkle, “We selected Toys for Tots because we believe in their mission of reaching children in the local community.” Both Mount Airy Chrysler and Mount Airy Toyota gave their customers an additional $100 off the purchase of a new Toyota, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep or Ram vehicle when they donated a new, unwrapped toy.
“Our campaign was a huge success this year, “said McCorkle. We collected two truckloads of toys!”
The Toys for Tots campaign was started by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Their mission is to collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in their local community. “Christmas time always makes me grateful for the blessings in my life and helping others is a way to express how truly lucky I feel,” explains McCorkle, “And I love that the toys that our customers bring in will stay in the community.”
The Toys for Tots coordinator for the Surry County area is Antoinette Williams. Toys for Tots accepts new, unwrapped toys as well as cash donations which will are used to purchase new toys. Toys for Tots is a top rated charity with 97 percent of donations goes directly to providing toys, books, and other gifts to less fortunate children.
