Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram FIAT

Just a few weeks ago, Stellantis N.V. announced that it will be investing $229 million in three Kokomo, Indiana plans to advance the company’s commitment to emerging technologies. Formerly Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), Stellantis has made no secret of its plans for producing a lineup of all-electric vehicles in the future. This announcement is the latest indication that the automaker is living up to the promises made upon the January merger between FCA and the French PSA Group.

Stellantis may not be the only company in the industry dedicating resources to EV evolution, but it is certainly at the forefront. We already see the development of low-emission technology being used in brands like Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, Jeep, and Fiat. But this is apparently only the beginning. Below, Mount Airy CDJRF discusses the most recent Stellantis announcement in more detail, as well as other steps the company is taking toward an all-electric future.

The Three Indiana Plants

The $229 million investment in the three Indiana plants will specifically fund retooling for the production of electric eight-speed transmissions for various Stellantis brands. These cutting-edge transmissions are being created for use in internal combustion, mild hybrid, and plug-in hybrid vehicles. The company is planning for 40% of its U.S. vehicle sales to be low-emission by 2030, which will include a mix of gas-powered, hybrid, and all-electric vehicles.

This is how Stellantis Head of Powertrain Operations, Brad Clark, summed up the investment:

This investment and this transmission represent an important stepping stone in getting us to 2030 and further expanding our battery-electric offerings…The new transmission is a versatile one that can be adapted for a variety of applications, allowing us the flexibility to adjust our production as consumer demand for electrified vehicles grows over the next decade. It also offers consumers the opportunity to get familiar with this technology and explore all of the benefits that can come from electrification.

The Workers

Three plants that will be retooling for Stellantis’ fourth-generation eight-speed transmission are the Kokomo Transmission, Indiana Transmission, and Kokomo Casting facilities. A wide range of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram models will use these transmissions in the near future. Stellantis has pointed out that the three plants employ thousands of workers. Here is a breakdown of each plant’s workforce:

• Kokomo Transmission: 3,280
• Indiana Transmission: 1,473
• Kokomo Casting: 1,238

The Union

Vice President of United Auto Workers, Cindy Estrada, is in charge of the UAW-Stellantis department. She suggested in a company statement that hard work and exceptional quality have spurred the investment in the Hoosier plants:

During the 2019 negotiations, the UAW negotiators made it a priority that as we transition into the next generation of vehicles and powertrains the UAW members must continue to build these great products…The commitment to building these multi-tool transmissions will enable Kokomo UAW members to continue the quality transmissions used in today’s gas and hybrid technology while preparing for electric vehicles and new technologies far into the future.

UAW Region 2B Director, Wayne Blanchard, has touted the involvement of the workers in the Stellantis transformation as vital. In an interview with Indiana Public Radio, Blanchard said, “It’s the UAW members that are touching that steel, pressing those buttons on those machines, and putting those components in those transmissions and the engines that are making this possible. And it’s a testament that we got a good workforce here in Kokomo, Indiana.”

The Transmission

The Kokomo plant builds the eight-speed transmission found in current Ram 1500, Dodge Durango, Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, and Chrysler 300 models. Several Jeep models use the transmission, including the Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer, and Wrangler.

The new (fourth-generation) transmission is supposed to perform even better than the current one. Stellantis has claimed that, along with pushing the company toward its low emission goals and meeting future government regulations, the transmission will provide better fuel economy and pure-electric range.

The Bigger Picture

As substantial as the $229 investment in the Indiana plants might be, it’s only part of a much larger vision for Stellantis. Last year, the company (then FCA) announced a $400 million investment to develop an engine in Indiana for the first time, and that project is set to start in the coming months.

Earlier this month, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb signed an agreement with several other midwest governors to fund a charging station network, which is a good omen that more low-emission developments are on the horizon.

On the matter, Holcomb stated: “Racing’s in our blood, we like to be in the pole position. We have such a rich heritage and past in the automotive industry. To think about where we want to be in 10, 20, 30 years when Stellantis does celebrate its 100th anniversary, we have to make a decision—policy decisions today to remain an attractive ecosystem.”

The EV Future of Stellantis

The auto industry is undeniably moving toward an all-electric future, and even the most notorious gas-guzzling vehicles will become electrified at some point. Stellantis understands the inevitability and is dedicated to competing with—if not surpassing—rivals going forward.

One of the primary reasons the FCA and PSA merger went through is because Stellantis vowed to put significant time, energy, and money into growing its brands and putting them on track to electrification. Stellantis officials have implied that the company will be investing around $36 billion between now and 2025—funds that will be designated solely for future all-electric developments, EV software, and other electrification-related initiatives.

We have already seen the new Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid, and the automaker will soon release the Grand Cherokee 4xe with other Jeep models to follow suit. Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares has slated Jeep as the brand to start the electrification revolution; plans are set for a 2023 all-electric Jeep model, and every Jeep model should offer a battery-electric powertrain option by 2025.

The company’s strategy is to produce fully electric models in most segments by 2025 and in all segments by 2030. The highly anticipated 2022 GMC Hummer EV is almost here, and the all-electric Ram 1500 full-size pickup truck is coming in 2024, as is an electric Dodge muscle car.

In other words, Stellantis is dead-set on not getting passed by in the race to the future. The automaker knows that its competitors will be hot on its heels, and it much prefers that over biting the dust of its rivals. So, what specific steps is Stellantis taking to blaze the electrification trail in the auto industry? It comes down to accelerating plans and investing big bucks in manufacturing facilities, platforms, technology, and batteries.

Investment Plans

The investments in producing the engines and transmissions in Indiana are not the only plans Stellantis has released to the public concerning the foreseeable future. Tavares sees this time as an opportunity to “reset the clock,” as he put it to investors on a virtual broadcast that centered around the EV strategy set forth by the company.

The overarching goal for Stellantis is 98% of all new models to be electrified by 2025, which is where the $36 billion comes in. The updated business plan outlines the details of reaching the point where the vast majority of Stellantis’ new vehicles are battery electrics by that time, though some will still be plug-in hybrids.

By 2025, the company is aiming to produce 55 electrified vehicles in the United States and Europe, and it hopes for its plug-in hybrid and battery-electric models to make up 40 percent of sales in North America (70 percent in Europe) by 2030. While there is no date set in stone, the automaker wants to offer a competitive lineup in the China market as well.

Four EV Platforms

One tangible step Stellantis has taken to progress toward its electrification goals is by developing platforms specifically dedicated to EVs. As of now, engineers have created four such platforms: STLA Small, STLA Medium, STLA Large, and STLA Frame.

The various platforms ensure that the structure is established for building EVs in every size, shape, and type. This means that every model—from Ram trucks and commercial vans to Fiat subcompacts—will have the foundation for electrification. The latter is quite the lucrative segment; Ford is currently leading the charge in commercial vans on a global scale, and Stellantis will soon release its hydrogen fuel cell medium-sized van in hopes to take the lead.

An EV platform will not be practical unless it guarantees a significant driving range for consumers. With that in mind, Stellantis has stated the estimated full-charge driving range of each of the four platforms:

• Small STLA: 300 miles
• Medium STLA : 440 miles
• Large STLA and Frame STLA: 500 miles

Many different types and numbers of battery packs should be accommodated by the flexible platforms, from 37 to 200 kWh capacities. The company anticipates its performance models will be primed for a 2.0-second zero to 60 and provide 200 miles of range from a 10-minute quick charge.

By the Brand

Many brands fall under the Stellantis umbrella—14, to be exact. The automaker has not released electrification details about every brand but has provided taglines for them. For example, they have described future Chrysler vehicles as providing “clean technology for a new generation of families,” implying that it will stay focused on SUVs and minivans. On the other end of the spectrum, Stellantis is using the tagline “the best in performance luxury, electrified” to tout the future of Maserati.

German brand Opel already offers nine electrified models, and the plan is for its entire lineup to consist of electrified vehicles by 2024. And Fiat is also on the path to transitioning all of its vehicles from internal combustion to electric engines, with the goal being an all-electric brand by 2030. Moreover, plans are in place for an all-electric Abarth lineup beginning in 2024.

The Battery Solution

Finally, another critical part of the Stellantis electrification strategy is to develop a solid-state battery by 2026. This process is already in the works, as the company is currently underway on a dual-chemistry battery solution. The solution utilizes NiCo-free battery chemistry—meaning it contains no nickel or cobalt—along with a high energy-density nickel-based battery.

Stellantis is planning to open five battery factories globally. The first three plants will be built in France, Germany, and Italy, with the other two facilities opening in North America at a later, undisclosed date. By 2025, a combined 130-gigawatt hour of battery capacity will be produced in the plants, and the capacity produced will double that number among the plants by 2030.

Conclusion

The future looks bright for Stellantis and all the drivers who will be buying its wide-ranging lineup of vehicles down the road. By investing in innovation at American plants, the automaker is not only putting its money where its mouth is for the environment but also helping to retain the jobs of some of the world’s hardest workers.

We can expect to see more hybrid and all-electric vehicles hitting the market over the next few years. But until then, don’t forget to come by Mount Airy CDJRF to experience the low-emission models we already have!

Service Center Mount Airy NC

Keeping up with your vehicle’s servicing needs is critical for ensuring a safe driving experience—both for the people in your car and others on the road. Performing routine maintenance is also an excellent way to save time and money in the long run. But how do you know when it’s time to service your vehicle? What if you’ve lost track of your maintenance schedule or don’t know how to identify an isolated problem with the brakes, tires, or other components?

The service experts at Mount Airy CDJR are committed to helping our customers prolong the performance and life of their vehicles. And we’ve provided some practical information and advice for keeping your vehicle up to speed on its maintenance:

The Brakes

No one needs to tell you how important your vehicle’s brakes are for safe driving. But sometimes it can be tricky to distinguish whether you have a problem with your brakes or it’s something else. One of the most common indicators that you need your brakes serviced is if you hear a loud, unpleasant noise, such as screeching, grinding, or growling when you apply the brakes.

If you notice your brakes becoming less responsive or your vehicle pulling to one side when you press the brakes, those could also be signs that you need to bring your car in. Furthermore, steering wheel vibration when traveling downhill or braking at higher speeds can indicate a brake problem. By bringing your vehicle to a qualified mechanic, you will know whether the problem is with the brake pads, rotors, or something else entirely.

The Tires

As with brakes, it’s difficult to drive safely when your tires are in bad shape. Never let your tires get to the point where they are bald on the edges, and if you do, get them replaced immediately.

Also, check your car manual, get a tire gauge, and regularly check the air pressure to ensure your tires are not over-or under-inflated. Along with increasing safety, the correct air pressure can boost your fuel economy. Generally speaking, you’ll want to take your vehicle in for a tire rotation every 6,000 to 8,000 miles to keep the wear even (check your car manual for exact mileage).

The Oil

If you want to prolong the life of your engine, nothing is more important than oil changes. When performed regularly, changing the oil is relatively simple and inexpensive. But if you neglect this practice, it can lead to more extensive, costly repairs.

Most older cars require an oil change every three months or 3,000 miles, while most newer models can wait six months or 6,000 miles. Along with keeping track of your mileage, here are a few signs that your vehicle needs an oil change:

• The “Check Engine” or “Oil Change” light comes on.
• The oil is dark or dirty.
• You can smell engine oil from inside the cabin.
• Your exhaust is releasing smoke.
• Your general engine noise becomes louder, or you hear knocking or rumbling sounds.

Wiper Blades

If you don’t have a clear view of the road ahead, you’re putting yourself and others in danger. Along with passing a basic vision test, you need to keep your windshield wipers in good shape!

Depending on where you live and the quality of wipers you choose, you should plan on changing out the blades every six to 12 months. That said, anytime you notice corroded metal, worn-out or damaged rubber, screeching sounds, or poor cleaning performance from your wipers, it’s a good sign that you should replace them.

The Battery

Several factors can impact the performance of your car’s battery, including age, extreme temperatures, and long periods of inactivity. Batteries are designed to wear out, and most are warrantied and rated according to time rather than mileage.

In general, you can expect a car battery to run well for four or five years, which means about 50,000 to 60,000 miles for the average driver. Regularly check the terminals on your battery for corrosion and dirt. If you’re not sure when it was last replaced, a mechanic can test its charge capability.

Conclusion

To ensure safe driving and prolong the life of your vehicle, it’s essential to have it serviced regularly. But you also want to look out for the signs mentioned above for problems that fall outside of routine maintenance. Moreover, pay attention to your air filter, fuel filter, fluids (e.g., transmission fluid, power steering fluid, engine coolant, etc.), hoses, belts, and any other components that may need to be serviced.

Mount Airy CDJR services a wide range of vehicles every day, so schedule an appointment anytime for routine maintenance or any isolated issues you may have!

2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

Jeep is no stranger to introducing and modifying nameplates to critical acclaim. Gradually transitioning the Cherokee from full-size SUV to crossover, bringing in newer models like the Compass and Renegade, and adding a third row to the 2021 Grand Cherokee L are just a few examples.

But boy is this new model jaw-dropping. Jeep has resurrected the Grand Wagoneer for the 2022 model year, and it’s got plenty to satisfy even the richest of tastes. It’s laden with features, has one of the nicest interiors in the industry, and runs on an engine that will make competitors quake. And it manages to masterfully blend modernity with aspects from the legendary Wagoneers of the past.

If money was a vehicle coasting down the highway, it would be the Grand Wagoneer. It’s the kind of SUV that everyone notices. And you can bet your bottom dollar you’ll be seeing your fair share of them on the road come next year.

If you’re in the market for a luxury three-row beast, then there’s no other vehicle that measures up to the 2022 Grand Wagoneer. But even if you don’t want to dish out six figures on your next hauler, this vehicle is fascinating to see and learn about. Let us explain!

It’s a Truck and an SUV

Even though they carry different names, the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer are basically the same truck. The Grand Wagoneer just oozes a little more opulence in many aspects. From exterior bling to interior subtleties to groundbreaking technology, the Grand Wagoneer lives up to its name.

That said, both of these SUVs fall somewhere between the Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition, and Chevy Suburban in terms of dimensions. They carry a physical presence that cannot be ignored. You may have noticed that we’ve been referring to the Jeep Wagoneer models as a truck.

In many ways, the Grand Wagoneer is both a truck and SUV. It rides on the impressive DT body-on-frame platform that is found in the RAM 1500 family. In that sense, one could accurately call the 2022 Grand Wagoneer a truck. And let’s not forget the unconscionable 10,000-pound towing capacity (no matter the powertrain), which comfortably sits atop its class.

Now, let’s consider the SUV side of the Grand Wagoneer. Consider, for instance, the new Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L models, which are easily some of the most stylish vehicles in the mid-size SUV segment. The overall aesthetics of the Grand Cherokees (smooth edges, strong body lines, subtle ruggedness) are found on the 2022 Grand Wagoneer. But the sheer size of the Grand Wagoneer sets it apart from its smaller siblings.

Sure, you’re no stranger to seeing HD trucks and full-size SUVs on the road, but the body shape of the Grand Wagoneer gives the impression that it is towering over you, thanks to aggressively upright proportions and unique fender flares. Representatives for Jeep have suggested that the 2022 Grand Wagoneer conveys a “stately, architectural” design.

It Encapsulates Luxury

Along with its physical prowess, the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer provides all the glitz and chrome even the ritziest of us could ask for. But amazingly, it does so without being obnoxious. Gaudiness is what fans of the Cadillac Escalade are looking for. The Grand Wagoneer doesn’t try to dip into that market share, instead opting to draw in stealth-wealth types who perhaps have fond memories of childhood road trips in the backseat of first-generation Wagoneers. This shines through in the subtle design elements found in the Grand Wagoneer’s exterior and interior.

That’s not to say that the Grand Wagoneer doesn’t take your breath away with some in-your-face qualities. Take, for example, the black-painted roof, chrome window surrounds, exterior LED lights, and fancy grille design. Then there is the two-piece aluminum “Grand Wagoneer” lettering and Copperchino accents, which come on the top-tier Series III variant. That last feature alone puts the Grand Wagoneer in a class of its own, seeing as how such few vehicles successfully pull off copper trim. And since the Grand Wagoneer is such an important piece of Jeep’s lineup, it says a lot about the brand’s confidence.

If the exterior of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer is impressive, its interior will leave car enthusiasts speechless. To be frank, the interior space is the most upscale of any vehicle under the Chrysler brand in decades, factoring in the standards of previous eras. And interior differentiation is what most sets the Grand Wagoneer apart from the standard Wagoneer.

The 2022 Grand Wagoneer comes with quilted Palermo-grade leather upholstery that extends to the dash surrounds and door panels. The standard Wagoneer offers Napa leather upholstery. But let’s get to the feature that every Wagoneer fan from the last 60 years thinks of when they hear the term “Wagoneer.” All of the Grand Wagoneer’s wooden panels are real walnut, putting it in the league of Mercedes Benz, Bentley, and other heavy-hitting luxury brands. The ignition button is even surrounded by a wooden panel, and the button itself is unique as it integrates stitched leather trim and an angled design.

The dark wood of the interior is pleasantly balanced with genuine metal frames around parts of the dash. Furthermore, the center console boasts an oversized rotary shift knob that is adorned with an exotic gnarled wood pattern. All in all, the Grand Wagoneer’s pattern is rich and warm; it offers considerably more character than competitors like the Navigator and Escalade.

It’s Stuffed With Screens and Gizmos

Not too long ago, your typically luxury vehicle would primarily consist of upscale materials in the cabin. But times have changed, and that won’t cut it anymore. For a car to be truly luxurious, it must provide lots of technology, driver assistance systems, and screens. And the Grand Wagoneer delivers in that area. In fact, you get 45 inches of screens between the front displays and 30 more inches in the back. That’s right—the Grand Wagoneer has 75 total inches of screens throughout the cabin.

There is the available 12.0-inch infotainment touchscreen that sits atop the dash’s center, and there’s the 10.25-inch HVAC display on the lower part of the center stack. Additionally, the front passenger gets a 10.25-inch display for streaming, navigation, and exterior camera monitoring, while passengers in the rear can access climate control through their own 10.25-inch touchscreen. Finally, you can opt for mounted 10.1-inch infotainment screens on the back of each front seat.

Screens are not the only technology offered by the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. There are plenty of gizmos specifically designed to boost comfort and convenience —some of which are standard luxury fare and those that are quite unconventional. Luxury staples like a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated first- and second-row seats, massaging front seats, and adjustable pedals are present. Wireless charging, a head-up display, and a night vision camera view can be had as well.

The interior of the Grand Wagoneer starts to really set itself apart from the competition with the option of a keypad-operate safe or a refrigerator in the center console storage compartment. If you own a gun, the locking safe box might sound too good to be true (but apparently it’s not).

Then there is the sound system. Available on the Grand Wagoneer is an incredible 23-speaker McIntosh system that pushes 175 watts for an audio experience seldomly found in a vehicle. This system is the first OEM-supplied system that McIntosh has produced in almost two decades. It’s matched with satellite radio and Bluetooth, Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto capabilities. Even visually, the McIntosh system impresses; the speakers have a sculptural design and attractively come out of the dashboard. And when the sound system is engaged, the togglable output meter on the center screen display illuminates in the brand’s signature blue.

It’s Got a Hemi

Sure, the 2022 Grand Wagoneer sounds amazing when you’re sitting in the cabin, but it’s not just because of the McIntosh system. There also happens to be a state-of-the-art 6.4-liter naturally aspirated Hemi V8 engine. Yes, it’s the same engine we’ve grown to love in Dodge SRT and Scat Pack models. The Hemi Hellfire produces 471 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. This engine is matched with Jeep’s Quadra-Drive II four-wheel-drive system and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

It doesn’t take an automotive expert to understand how much engine that is. But you have to consider the fact that the Grand Wagoneer weighs a whopping 6,400-pounds. In other words, it’s not something that’s going to beat out a top-of-the-line Challenger or Charger. It’s faster than its competitors with a 6.0-second zero-to-60.

The muscle-car aspect of the Grand Wagoneer is something to behold. But the most impressive thing about this SUV’s driving experience is the fact that it drives more like a mid-size crossover than it does a full-size SUV. And we have quick and accurate power steering, an adaptive air suspension, and complex chassis engineering to thank for that.

It Drives Like a Crossover

Take the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer down the twists and turns of a country road, and you might feel like you’re driving a Toyota Highlander or Acura MDX. It certainly feels more dynamic, secure, and comfortable than other full-size SUVs like the Chevrolet Suburban or Ford Expedition. Of course, it’s not a mid-size SUV, lest we forget its physical prowess. But the overall bulk of the Grand Wagoneer will scoot past the speed limit if you’re not careful, and the suspension system makes for an ultra-smooth ride.

These qualities also extend to tighter urban areas, where an easier and more comfortable drive is welcomed by city dwellers. No one is going to buy the Grand Wagoneer because of its handling capabilities, but that doesn’t mean it will go unnoticed!

Chances are if you are buying a Grand Wagoneer, its hauling capability is a big draw. Whether you are carrying around other people, household trash, water sports equipment, or anything else, you’re going to have the power and storage capacity necessary for the job. The third row is surprisingly spacious; average-sized adults can ride comfortably for long-distance trips.

Also in the third row, passengers get plenty of cupholders and USB charge ports. And there are a plethora of driver-assist technologies to help everyone feel safe on the road. Among many others, the Grand Wagoneer comes with collision warning and assist, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, active lane assist, intersection collision assist, and adaptive cruise control.

It’s Not Cheap

Here’s the catch: The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is expensive, no matter which trim level you go with. The base model starts at about $89,000 and includes four-wheel drive, plenty of styling cues, comfort and convenience features, and that Hemi Hellfire we talked about earlier. The Grand Wagoneer Series II includes 22-inch wheels, higher-quality seats, and a rearview mirror camera—all for $96,000.

If you want to cross over into the six figures, the Grand Wagoneer Obsidian will do the trick; along with many other bold themes, this model comes with black-trimmed wheels and a more understated fascia for $101,000. The most expensive Grand Wagoneer, the Series III, starts at about $106,000. This is the flagship trim, and it boasts a ridiculously long list of standard features, including a front-passenger infotainment display, a camera-based rear-seat monitor, and a night vision system, among many others.

Of course, you can even add to the top-of-the-line trim and exceed $111,000 if you feel the urge! As far as we know, we can expect the very first 2022 Grand Wagoneer models to arrive in dealerships by the end of 2021.

Conclusion

The legend is returning, and it’s doing it in a big way. The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is truly a sight to behold, whether you’re watching it glide effortlessly by on a winding road or sitting in the industry-leading cabin.

Vehicle Upgrades North Carolina

As the fall approaches, it’s time to start thinking about how you can improve your driving experience! Maybe you’re in the market for a new vehicle and are researching various trim packages. But you can also enhance your current vehicle with some aftermarket upgrades.

As long as you’re willing to invest a little money, there are plenty of upgrades you can make, whether you have a sedan, pickup truck, SUV, or another type of vehicle. Some improvements aren’t worth the price attached to them. But the right ones can go a long way in boosting your car’s safety, performance, and convenience.

Mechanical Upgrades

Let’s start with some of our favorite mechanical upgrades you can make to a wide range of vehicles:

Performance All-Season Tires

The tires on your vehicle affect the handling, ability to stop, fuel economy, and many other aspects of driving. Fall is the perfect season for upgrading your tires because winter will soon be following. Consider going with performance all-season tires to gain superb traction on a variety of terrain.

If you live in an area that gets heavy snow throughout winter, you might need to look into snow tires. While you’re at it, throw a set of escape tracks in your vehicle, which can get you out of tough situations!

Aluminum Wheels

You often see aluminum wheels on the higher trim levels of new models. That’s because they’re much more expensive than their steel counterparts. Aluminum is simply a superior metal when it comes to car wheels. They are lighter and exert less inertia. This results in improved fuel economy and less strain on the brakes. In other words, aluminum wheels can reduce ownership costs over the long term.

Suspension Upgrades

The suspension components on your vehicle make a significant, direct impact on your all-around driving experience. Consider upgrading your shock absorbers and getting stiffer springs. This will help to minimize the up-and-down motion during your daily commute and lend to a more stable, cushioned ride.

Limited Slip Differential (LSD)

LSD systems are used in a wide range of vehicles—from off-road SUVs to family sedans. Essentially, this type of system kicks in when a wheel loses traction by transferring power from that wheel to the other ones. Along with boosting traction when you’re off the beaten path, it gives you nearly perfect grip on paved roads.

Fog Lights

Fog lights do precisely what their name suggests. They help you see while driving in fog and other weather conditions (e.g., rain, heavy snow, dust, etc.) that limit your visibility. This is because fog lights shine directly on the ground in front of your vehicle help to minimize reflections.

Tech Accessories

There’s no shortage of tech accessories on the market that can give your driving experience a boost. Here are a few to consider adding to your vehicle this fall:

Diagnostic Scan Tool

If your vehicle is the model year 1996 or later, then it has an Onboard Diagnostic II. This means that you can use a scan tool to track various mechanical issues with your car. So, if your “Check Engine” light comes on, you can view a lot of information about your vehicle and get an idea of the problem before taking it to the mechanic.

Cell Phone Signal Booster

Cell tower technology has come a long way. But if you do a lot of driving, chances are you occasionally drive through certain areas and lose cell phone reception. Several signal booster products on the market can improve reception by more than 30 times.

Backup Camera

A lot of new vehicles include cameras that make driving and parking safer and easier. But if your car doesn’t have those technologies, you can benefit from investing in an aftermarket backup camera. Most of these cameras come with a touchscreen that mounts on your dashboard.

Wireless Baby Monitor

If you have young children, consider getting a wireless baby monitor for your car so that you can keep an eye on your child while driving—without having to turn around and risk your family’s safety. Moreover, a baby monitor can remind you that your little one is in the backseat before you exit the vehicle. These monitors also come with a screen that can mount to the dashboard.

Conclusion

Fall is here, and the upgrades and accessories abound! From top-tier tires and suspension systems to scan tools and backup cameras, there are tons of products on the market that can provide you with a safer and more enjoyable driving experience. Whether you drive a 4WD pickup or a compact coupe, Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram can recommend the best upgrades to take your vehicle to the next level.

Dodge Dealer Near Me

Dodge has a long history of ruling the American muscle car industry. And the manufacturer has always taken a staunch stance when it comes to providing their customers with what they’re looking for: some of the most powerful combustible engines you can fit in a coupe or sedan.

However, a recent change of ownership has caused Dodge to change its tune a little bit. Don’t misunderstand—raw power and speed are still the focal points of their performance lineup. But with an auto industry that’s inevitably evolving into an EV market, Dodge has announced that they are exploring concepts for what they call “eMuscle” technology.

Along with benefitting the environment, electric motors are not bound by the same limits as combustible engines. In other words, an all-electric Charger or Challenger could wield considerably more power than its gas-powered predecessors (we know, it’s kind of a scary thought!).

So, what do Dodge’s plans for an electric future look like? Below, Mount Airy CDJR shares everything we know so far. And we’ll also touch on what we expect from the 2022 Charger and 2022 Challenger models:

Are the Charger and Challenger Going Electric?

In July, Dodge announced that it would be launching the first-ever all-electric muscle car in 2024. If you’re like some other muscle car enthusiasts, you may be seething in your seat right now. After all, no other brand has outdone Dodge when it comes to producing incredibly powerful V8 muscle cars like the Charger Hellcat Redeye and Challenger SRT Super Stock.

While the announcement definitely raised eyebrows, it also left many people scratching their heads, as the details were scarce and Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis proclaimed that the manufacturer won’t “sell electric cars—it will sell eMuscle.” The messaging was a little unclear, but fans are assuming eMuscle to be Dodge’s branding for an upcoming lineup of EVs.

So, which models will be released under the eMuscle sub-brand? That’s the million-dollar question. Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis (which is now the parent company of Dodge), has clearly stated that the Charger and Challenger would be included in the future lineup. When asked during a conference call whether there was an all-electric Viper in the works, he refrained from comment. But then he followed with, “The Charger and Challenger, absolutely yes.”

This is great news for fans of the legendary muscle cars, even if a little disappointing to those who were wishing for an electric revival of the Viper. Plenty of mystery surrounds Dodge’s EV plans, but we can be pretty confident that the Charger and Challenger will be part of them, even if they come with different nameplates.

Stellantis has also debuted a slogan for Dodge’s future EV brand: “Tear up the streets…Not the planet.” But there’s another factor involved in the decision to go electric than merely cutting down on emissions. Kuniskis is on record for saying that “engineers are reaching a practical limit of what we can squeeze from internal combustion innovation…They know we know that electric motors can give us more.” He also suggested that his engineering team has technology that can give Dodge a performance advantage in the evolving market. “If a charger can make a Charger faster, then we’re all for it,” said Kuniskis.

In a teaser video released on social media, Dodge’s concept electric muscle car appears to be doing a four-wheel burnout, which hints at an all-wheel-drive model. However, besides that short clip and the new eMuscle logo, the video didn’t leave much to go on. Though it’s no doubt a transformative step for the automaker to take, it’s easy to see why electrification is necessary if its goal is to remain atop the world of performance-based vehicles.

So, what if you’re not sure about the whole muscle-car-gone-electric thing? Or what if you simply don’t want to wait another three years to get your hands on a world-class performance machine? Let’s take a look at what we can expect from the 2022 Charger and Challenger models:

2022 Dodge Charger

Dodge hasn’t released any official information on the upcoming 2022 Charger, which means that it will likely be a carryover model. Therefore, it will probably be available in six trims—SXT, GT, R/T, Scat Pack, SRT Hellcat, and SRT Hellcat Redeye.

Though the Charger may not be as iconic as its little brother, it has earned its own reputation for being an absolute beast. It has won countless accolades over the years, been the top choice of highway patrolmen, and remained among the fastest sedans in the world.

Engine and Performance

Assuming no major changes are made for 2022, the Charger should offer five different engines. Let’s be clear, the base engine is capable. And from there, the sheer power just gets ridiculous.

The base 3.6-liter V6 produces 292 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque for the rear-wheel-drive SXT, while the GT and all-wheel-drive SXT sees 300 hp and 262 lb-ft. The R/T trim comes standard with a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 that’s good for 370 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque, and the Scat Pack’s naturally aspirated 6.4-liter V8 (a.k.a. 392 HEMI) produces 485 hp and 475 lb-ft.

Things start getting absurd when you get to the SRT Hellcat, which is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that yields 717 horses and 650 lb-ft. The Hellcat Redeye uses a similar engine, except it has been specially tuned to give out a whopping 797 hp and 707 lb-ft of torque. All Charger models come with an automatic eight-speed transmission.

Interior

The interior of the 2022 Dodge Charger is all about function. The simplicity of the cabin mixed with the aggressive exterior ultimately creates an impressive balance. For a sport sedan, this model offers a lot of room for passengers, as well as impressive trunk space. And if you opt for the top-of-the-line SRT Hellcat Redeye, you’ll receive plenty of race-inspired features, such as a red 220-MPH speedometer.

If you’ve ever tinkered with the Uconnect system before, you know how easy to use and responsive it is. Dodge’s infotainment system is among the best in the industry, and every Charger trim comes with it. Here are some additional features that you’ll get with the Charger’s interior:

• Seven- or 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen
• Seven-inch customizable digital information cluster
• Push-button start
• Performance shifter
• Leather steering wheel
• Available sport seats
• Available heated front seats and steering wheel

Exterior

There’s no mistaking the Dodge Charger for any other vehicle when it comes to exterior appearance. The aerodynamic nose and LED headlights are joined by updated suspensions and brakes. Perhaps the most distinctive model is the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye, which is more aggressive and wider. It also boasts fender flares in the front and rear fascias that extend 3.5 inches wider over the wheels. The Charger’s long wheelbase makes for more legroom inside.

There are plenty of features that contribute to the unique, eye-catching exterior of the Charger, beginning with the race-inspired taillights, aggressive fenders, and headlight design, and signature hood scoop (R/T and above). LED daytime running lights, bifunctional halogen projector headlights, and LED fog lights to come standard. Higher trims can be had with high-intensity discharge (HID) headlights.

Safety

Amid all the power-hungriness, Dodge didn’t compromise on safety when designing the 2022 Charger. There are tons of standard and optional active and passive safety technologies to consider. For example, adaptive cruise control, hill start assist, advanced traction control, blind-spot monitoring, rear parking assistance, lane departure alert with lane-keeping assist, and forward collision warning with active braking are all available.

There are also a plethora of airbags planted throughout the cabin, including advanced multistage front airbags, a driver-side knee blocker airbag, and supplemental full-length airbags in the side curtain. The 2022 Dodge Charger has not been tested yet by the NHTSA or IIHS. But since the 2021 Charger performed well in crash tests for both organizations, we can expect the same for the upcoming model.

2022 Dodge Challenger

As with the Charger, the 2022 Challenger will most likely be a carryover model. It doesn’t get more iconic than the Dodge Challenger. It’s perhaps the most recognized muscle car in the world, yet it has managed to maintain its old-school charm without becoming even the slightest obsolete. We expect the 2022 Challenger will be available in SXT, GT, R/T, R/T Scat Pack, SRT Hellcat Redeye, and SRT Super Stock configurations, though we can’t be certain until Dodge makes an official announcement.

Engine and Performance

There are several different engines available for the Dodge Challenger. The base engine is a 3.6-liter V6 that pumps 303 hp and 268 lb-ft of torque. The power grows as you step up the trims. For instance, the SRT Hellcat Redeye is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine with an output of 717 hp and 656 lb-ft. The most powerful variant, the SRT Super Stock, uses the same engine, but it has been tweaked to produce 807 hp and 707 lb-ft. You can get either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission with each trim.

Interior

Don’t let the aggressive nature of the Dodge Challenger fool you—it’s really comfortable inside. A roomy cabin, leather seats, and soft-touch door panels? Yes, please! While the base variant emits a sense of luxury on its own, you can get even fancier by climbing the trim levels or purchasing the comfort package. This vehicle comes with its fair share of interior features, including a 10-way power-adjustable driver seat, four-way passenger seat, 60-40 folding bench, and fixed rear windows.

The 2022 Challenger comes with plenty of infotainment features as well. Here are a few examples:

• Seven-inch infotainment touchscreen
• Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility
• Integrated voice control
• 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot
• Two USB ports
• Dual-zone climate control

Exterior

As in previous years, the 2022 Dodge Challenger sports an aggressive overall exterior, yet the curves are more fluid than some of the previous models. The aerodynamics is still second-to-none. And the muscle car is still as deliciously retro as ever.

You can opt for 18- or 20-inch alloy wheels with all-season performance tires on your Challenger. Other features include body-color exterior mirrors, power mirrors with manual fold-away, automatic projector headlights, fog lights, front and rear solar control glass, LED split taillights, rear courtesy lights, a trunk lamp, body-color fascias, a gloss black grille, and a satin black rear spoiler.

Safety

Similar to the Charger, the 2022 Challenger has not been tested by the NHTSA or IIHS, but previous crash tests suggest that it will earn stellar ratings. The base Challenger comes with a rearview camera, and there are loads of safety features available—from parking assist to roll stability control, from an aerial view camera system to a performance steering wheel.

Conclusion

Some muscle car enthusiasts will undoubtedly take issue with the recent news that Dodge will be electrifying their cars. But when it comes down to it, the transformation will allow the automaker to add even more power to the Charger and Challenger while also helping to preserve the planet.

If you’re not crazy about the idea of waiting until 2024 for your new vehicle, then consider going with a 2021 or 2022 Dodge Charger or Dodge Challenger. Mount Airy CDJR will be glad to help you pick the perfect beast!

The Ram truck was first introduced in 1981 and it was meant to serve as anything from a comfortable family vehicle to a rugged work truck. As years went on, and with numerous awards won along the way, the RAM evolved to fit the ever-changing needs of the modern driver. Today the RAM truck has become a staple family/luxury/work vehicle that continues to impress and evolve. With both the Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 truck models growing in popularity, it’s worth taking a close look into what makes each special.

The toughest decision you will have to make when looking over the new Ram trucks is choosing which one to get, the Ram 2500 or the Ram 3500? Both have their own perks and special features, and one of them is sure to be a perfect fit for your lifestyle. Let’s have a look at both.

The Ram 2500
In an ever-growing trend towards truck refinement, Dodge enters the 2021 luxury truck market in style with its new Ram 2500. This V-8 (HEMI 8-cylinder), eight-speed automatic, 3600 horsepower truck is flashy, tough, and about as top-of-the-line as a truck can get.

The truth is, the difference between the 2500 and 3500 is not huge but it is noticeable. Basically, the Ram 2500 offers more grit and grunt at a lower price. But, both the 2500 and the 3500 come—at base level—with a 6.4-liter, V8 engine and the option for a 6.7-liter turbodiesel engine with 850 pound-feet of torque (this option is only $200 more on the Ram 2500).

Inside the cabin, the 2500’s luxury is revealed. The all-leather seats with grey leather piping are easy to slide into, and they do well to match the feel of the soft surfaces throughout. The real wood accents, made from Black Argento, are a nice touch—as is the soft LED lighting in the door handles, footwells, and lower map pockets.

Between the two trucks, the 2500 comes with a softer suspension, which makes it a better around-town driver. One nice touch the 2500 offers, and the Ram 3500 does not, is the Power Wagon trim level. At this level, the 2500 adds 33-inch tires and an upgraded suspension system that allows it to hit the trails pretty hard.

The luxury truck movement is in full swing and the Ram has done an excellent job at not only keeping up with the market but also taking charge of it. The Ram 2500 is outfitted with all of Dodge’s celebrated performance standards and taken to a new level by using the finest of materials both inside and out.

The Ram 3500
Take what you know of the Ram 2500 and add superior payload and towing capacity and you have the Ram 3500. To be more specific, the 3500 can handle up to around 7,600 pounds in payload, whereas the 2500 tops out around 4,000 pounds. This massive difference alone is enough reason for those who plan on pulling and hauling a lot of weight, or even a little weight often, to go for the Ram 3500.

There are other differences beyond the amount of power between the Ram 3500 and 2500 models. For instance, the 3500 comes with the option for a large turbodiesel engine that offers 1,000 pound-feet of torque (that’s a ton!). This ultra-tough engine allows for a little over 35,000 pounds of towing (that’s enough weight to require a commercial license and will also require dual rear wheels). This is not an option with the Ram 2500.

With all this talk of power, you would think the Ram 3500 would look like a semi-truck. It, actually, does not. It looks quite nice—much like the 2500—with nice leather interior seats, wood trim and ambient light, and extra comfy seating. It’s a nice place to be, inside the cabin of the 3500. The exterior looks just as nice: modern lines and curves but nothing too much to detract from the fact that this is one capable, tough truck.

When it comes down to it, we like both the Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 models the same. They are both superior in their own rights, and depending on what you need—extra towing power or not—either one is a wonderful fit. Come see us at Mount Airy CDJR today and we will help you get into the truck that you need!

The Fast and Furious Jeep

Jul 13, 2021
By Andrae Bergeron

The Jeep brand has taken its iconic image to another level by making its SUVs, not only rugged and tough, but also fast and eco-friendly. The modern Jeep is an evolutionary spectacle from which other car manufacturers are struggling to contend with. What makes the Jeep brand so special? At Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram we have all the information you need on all Jeep models.

Let’s begin with the new and impressive Jeep Gladiator. In some ways, the all-new Jeep Gladiator is exactly what it looks like: half-Jeep and half-truck. In other ways, it is way more: a beefy vehicle that’s not afraid to go off-roading or flying down the open road; a midsized pickup that is so advanced there is nothing else out there quite like it; and a family car offering smooth, easy driving. Sounds almost too good to be true, we know, but it isn’t. This newfangled utility vehicle is sure to turn heads and impress even the most knowledgeable car enthusiasts, and this cool truck is a prime example of Jeep pushing the idea of what a vehicle can be and do. The Gladiator is something never been done before.

Even though it’s the brand’s first pickup since 1992, Jeep has not failed to keep up with what the modern consumer wants and needs in a truck. This is important—knowing how the pickup of today is used—because trucks aren’t what they used to be. Whereas before they were these clunky, minimalist vehicles made for either hauling or towing, they are now built to be the all-encompassing vehicle that offers a smooth ride with advanced capabilities to make everyone happy, children and adults alike. It’s also not afraid to hit the road with a quick punch and high acceleration but also operates as a rugged truck. It’s hard to comprehend—a truck that is fast and tough.

The same could be said about the Wrangler itself: once an ultra-rugged machine meant to get dirty, rusty, and beat up, the more modern versions have managed to keep the original toughness, but add in a lot of luxury, new technology, and speed. Jeep has proven in the past they are willing and capable of keeping up with the most modern advances, but with the Gladiator, they actually take the lead in innovation.

This innovative spirit is really what Jeep is all about: take something already proven and making it better. And in this case, Jeep has taken both the Wrangler (their own classic vehicle) and the concept of a midsize pickup to new levels by meshing them together.

E-Wrangler
Since we mentioned the Wrangler (one of our favorite vehicles ever!), let’s look at the all-new electric version. The electric-hybrid Wrangler puts a bold foot forward and sets a standard for plug-in SUVs. The all-new Wrangler 4xe is everything you want in a Wrangler and so much more.

The Wrangler 4xe is more than capable of hitting high speeds and conquering tough terrain. With 470 pound-feet of torque, the 4xe can climb over tough terrain and hit 0-60 miles-per-hour within 6 seconds. So, it’s tough and fast? No—it’s actually way more than that.

The new Wrangler identifies as a 4×4. After all, how could a venerable machine such as the Jeep Wrangler deny its roots: traipsing through rock and dirt, pulling and pushing through mud and sand. But over the last decade or so, the Wrangler has become more comfortable, more family-friendly, but without losing its edge and power. Now add some electric sporty speed and the new Wrangler becomes a triple threat.

The Wrangler 4xe provides 375 horsepower and comes with a 2.0-liter, I4 DOHC direct-injection Turbo PHEV engine that allows for the very best power and capability. There’s also a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, a regenerative brake booster, and an 8-speed automatic transmission constantly providing power and charge to each wheel of the Wrangler. And what’s really great about all this is that the battery pack and electronics are sealed and waterproofed so you can drive in up to 30 inches of water without any interference.

Another perfect example of the Jeep brand’s forward-thinking development, the e-Wrangler is multiple vehicles in one, but without getting so versatile it gets lost in the confusion. Take what works and make it better. That is the Jeep way.

Trade-In and Trade-Up

Value Your Trade In in Mount Airy

It can be tough parting with your car, especially when there isn’t necessarily anything wrong with it. However, letting your car fall to pieces before looking for another can end up costing you more money. This is why smart car buyers trade their vehicles in at just the right time. If you are not sure when the “time” is for your car, let Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram point you in the right direction.

You know it’s almost time for a new vehicle, but the one you have now still runs and looks decent. Sure it won’t last forever—you know that—but why get rid of it now? The truth is trading in a car that still carries some worth can save you tons of cash on your next car. What’s more, the process of trading in a car for a new one is quite easy and straightforward. Here’s how it works:

Step one is to drive your car to the dealership you plan to work with—Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, of course! Once you are here, one of our sales associates can take care of everything. First, a technician will give the vehicle you want to trade in a test drive and a detailed once-over to assess its value. An offer will be made, and that cash can be applied to the car you hope to buy. If you accept and find yourself a nice car, the deal is concluded by signing over the title and getting you in your new one.

You can trade your car in for cash and take that money to a private seller, but there are two issues with this: 1) it takes more time and paperwork; 2) dealerships tend to give a bigger cash offer if you plan on buying your next one from them—and everything is done right there.

Benefits to Trading-in Your Vehicle

There are plenty of reasons to trade in your car, but here are two of the biggest ones:

1. Everything is done in-house.
Having to go to multiple places—the DMV, a private seller or dealership, etc.—might not seem like a big deal, that is, until you have to do it. Having everything done in one place, and at one time, makes everything easier. Simply drive your trade-in to the dealership and drive your trade-up back home! No paperwork getting lost between the seats, no traffic jams, and no lines at the counter waiting for someone to help you who knows nothing about your situation.

“But what if I end up needing financing for the new car?” Not a problem, we do that too. We can provide financing for you, but if you would rather go with your bank that’s easy too; just get your financing squared away before you bring your old car to us—which can be done online.

2. If you have an existing loan on your trade-in, we can pay it off!
It’s true. We actually come across this situation often, and it’s yet another easy process: we pay off the remaining balance on your car loan and receive the title directly from the lender. If our offer for your trade-in is higher than the loan payoff, you get what’s left and you can apply that to your new purchase.

There is also what’s called being “upside down” in your loan. This is when you owe more on your car than what it is worth. This is not the best situation to be in, but trading it in is still your best bet. In this case, we will discuss your options, but more than likely this is how it will end up: we pay off your loan and add the difference to the balance of the car you want to buy. Again, trading it in and buying your next car at the same place will give you a bigger trade-in value, which then pays off more of your existing loan.

Choose Mount Airy CDJR

There is clearly a good case for trading-in and trading-up, so what are you waiting for—hopefully not your car to fall apart first! The most delicate part of this entire process is understanding when to upgrade your vehicle, and honestly, that’s something only you will know. But if you find your car doesn’t fit your lifestyle as much as it used to, or you find yourself jealously admiring all the new bells and whistles to your friend’s new car, it might be time to value your trade in come see us at Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. See you soon!

What’s New for the Jeep Brand

Jun 14, 2021
By Andrae Bergeron

Jeep Dealer in NC
Jeep, one of the most innovated and top-selling vehicle brands in America, finds new ways to impress car drivers every year—and this year is no different. With the advent of Jeep’s 80th anniversary, and the arrival of a brand-new electric vehicle, the Jeep brand is about to bring us another year of impressive automobiles.

Though there are plenty of impressive new things coming from the Jeep brand this year to talk about, such as the inclusion of a new plug-in-hybrid variant that has long been anticipated, we are just as excited about the standard, yearly updates, and the arrival of the 80th anniversary of the company—and the special “80th Edition” special features also available!

Let’s jump right in and see what’s new for the Jeep brand.

New Features and Updates this Year

SUVs:
· 2021 Jeep Cherokee
This year, the Cherokee includes a slew of standard advanced safety feature add-ons, such as Forward Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking; Blind Spot Warning with Rear-Cross Traffic Alert; and Lane Departure Warning with Lane-Keep Assist.
There is also the inclusion of a new trim level, the Latitude Lux, which offers a more affordable version of luxury with premium amenities. In addition, all the Cherokee trim levels receive plenty of upgrades in comfort and performance.
· 2021 Jeep Compass (Cherokee’s little sister)
There are a few changes made to the new Compass: the addition of standard advanced safety features to all Limited trims and the Trailhawk trim level. There will no longer be an option for manual transmission in the lower trims, and there will no longer be an option for the High Altitude model.
· 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Possibly due to the focus on the soon-to-come Grand Wagoneer, the Grand Cherokee comes this year with only a handful of feature changes. The Jeep brand’s flagship SUV, the Grand Cherokee will include for 2021 a new Sun and Sound Package that adds a dual-pane sunroof, as well as, a nine-speaker stereo system (for the Limited trim levels only).
· 2021 Jeep Renegade
There are some big upgrades for Jeep’s smallest SUV. Besides the addition of standard advanced safety features across its entire lineup, there will be two new editions to join the lineup: the Jeepster Edition and the Islander Edition. The Jeepster will be the sportier of the two, while the Islander comes with a bit more panache and luxury. The interiors to both are unique and packed with cool upgrades.
· 2021 Jeep Wrangler
Out of all the 2021 Jeep models, the new Wrangler receives the most significant changes—right along with the 2021 Rubicon 392. These bad boys come with a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder, 3.6 V-6 engine. (Which can also come with hybrid technology when combined with an automatic transmission.); there’s also a turbo-diesel, 3.0-liter V-6 available with the Wrangler Unlimited trim level. Of course, there are plenty more features and upgrades (including standard advanced safety features) that come with both Wrangler types.

Pickup Truck:
· 2021 Jeep Gladiator
Jeep’s only pickup truck, the Gladiator, comes as a turbo-diesel, 3.0-liter V-6 this year in ALL trim levels this year. Not only that, but every trim level also comes with available full-time four-wheel drive.
Moreover, the 2021 Gladiator Overland comes with an optional forward-facing TrailCam camera that helps when doing some serious off-roading. Throw in the LED headlights and fog lights (to the 2021 Gladiator Sport) and you can have some serious fun with this cool pickup.

Summer Road Trip Checklist

The school year is ending and Summer is approaching, which means it’s time for road trips! Now that places are opening back up and we can actually explore—as opposed to this same time a year ago—it’s extra important to be sure your vehicle is ready for its first real quest in a while.
It’s always a good idea to take precautions with your car as Summer approaches. Extreme heat can do major damage to integral parts of your car without you even knowing it. If these sensitive elements in your vehicle are not checked regularly, you could end up stranded, or even worse, you could end up needing a new vehicle.

At Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we are all about hitting the road with safety in mind. We always make sure our vehicles are ready before a long drive, and so should you. Here are four ways to make sure your car remains alive and well during those Summer excursions:

· Even if it’s relatively new, have your battery checked. Heat and vibration can cause your battery to wriggle free from its connections; sitting in the sun all day can evaporate battery fluids, and long Summer trips can cause your battery to corrode and negatively affect the vehicle’s performance. Be sure to scrape away any corrosion, and check that all wire connections are properly made.

· Have your coolant flushed. Your vehicle’s coolant fluid keeps the engine from overheating—something VERY important during the Summer months. After long periods of time, the coolant can become contaminated and less effective. It’s a good idea to have this fluid flushed and replaced with fresh coolant that can keep your car running smoothly.

· Check all other important fluids. Your car runs the best when the oil, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, and brake fluid are all topped off. These are relatively easy to check and should be looked at about once a week. If you have trouble finding any of these, contact one of our service members and he or she can tell you exactly what to do.

· Get your air conditioning system checked by a certified professional. Driving without air conditioning in the Summer is uncomfortable, especially on those longer trips: it can cause dreariness and fatigue for the driver, putting you and your passengers at risk. Even if you’re A/C seems to be okay, it’s a great idea to have it checked anyway. You never know when it could run out of fluid or break down. And you do not want to be in the middle of a Summer road trip when this happens.
