Summer is gearing up, and so is travel! With restrictions lessening, that itch to get out is finally able to be scratched. But where will you go? The trip is just as important as the destination (sometimes more so), so there is no excuse to travel without modern perks like LED lights streaming throughout your interior, and an array of hands-free capabilities such as sliding doors and high-definition touchscreens in your second row. Might as well throw in an integrated vacuum system and a tri-pane panoramic sunroof. These are only a few of the impressive features of the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica.
The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is the definitive modern family van. It’s comfortable, powerful, and sporty. Yes, I said sporty. Not a usual descriptor for a minivan. But, the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica isn’t your usual minivan. And this break from the minivan mold is exactly what makes the all-new Pacifica your best option for family road trips.
The Chrysler Pacifica’s cool new design is expertly laid out for optimum comfort. Its long body takes on a shape similar to that of a sporty SUV, only the Pacifica sits lower to the ground. This allows for easy access and plenty of room from the front of the cabin, all the way back to the trunk. The dual-panel moonroof over the second row, and fixed panel moonroof over the third row, provides natural lighting and a better view for the entire family.
Inside the Pacifica’s roomy cabin, the second-row adjustable seats bend forward and backward with Chrysler’s “Easy Tilt.” This makes it so children and adults alike can pile in and out without hassle during those bathroom breaks. There are also built-in sunshades and body-colored heated mirrors…there’s simply too much to list with the Pacifica. Chrysler has always intended for the crossover to serve as a luxury family vehicle—and that is exactly what it has become. With refined features, elegant design, and top-of-the-line technology, the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is an innovative leader, an outlier among its peers.
The all-new Pacifica not only looks and feels great, but it saves you money as well. The Chrysler Pacifica comes with an optional plug-in hybrid drivetrain, which provides up to 30 miles of electric-only power before the V-6 engine takes over. With just two hours of charge time, you are back on the road. Whether or not you opt for the hybrid version, the Pacifica is sure to give you and your family the smoothest ride possible in a minivan.
Why You and Yours Should Travel in the Chrysler Pacifica
Innovative Safety and Storage. A bonus to the cantilevered seats that easily move and adjust, is that there is extra space for storage. It’s perfect for a small suitcase, a sack of diapers, and even small groceries.
Tons of Latch Anchors. It is so annoying when attempting to install a car seat (or multiple car seats) and there are only a few places made to hold it. Most vehicles, including minivans, usually only have two or three seats equipped to hold a child’s seat, but the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica has up to five seating positions for a car seat, which means you can pretty much fit your child just about anywhere you want. The Pacifica is all about making things better and easier, especially for those driving with multiple passengers.
Easy Cleaning. There is a vacuum cleaner built into the new Pacifica. Yeah, the Honda Odyssey came out with this idea as well, but it’s placed way in the back and is difficult to access. The Pacifica’s Stow & Vac system is placed right in the second row. This is a smart move since the second row is where most traffic comes and goes, especially on road trips. Keeping it clean makes the trip all the better.
Stow & Go Assist Makes Things Easy. Chrysler’s Stow & Go enables all seats in the back to fold down completely into the floor of the van. Gone are the days of having to lift the seats out of the minivan so you can haul furniture. Now, it’s simple. The front seats even move forward automatically while the back ones are being folded in. Then, like magic, the front seats resume to their previous position.
Reasons Why You Need Chrysler Pacifica
- It Comes as a Hybrid. This hybrid works so well you won’t even know when it’s operating from gas or electric power. As the Pacifica cruises down the road, it seamlessly switches to gas once the electric energy has been depleted. And charging it is pretty simple too. Simply plug it in when you aren’t driving, and when you are ready to run to the store, unplug and zoom away. This gives Chrysler a huge edge on the minivan market and saves you tons of money in the process. Fewer trips to the gas station always make for a better driving experience.
- Second Row Adjustable Seats. Sure, just about every modern vehicle has adjustable seats, even in the back. But have you seen any that bend forward when holding a car seat? Probably not, since Chrysler is only one of three other companies to offer this nifty little bonus. Chrysler’s “Easy Tilt” rear bucket seats easily bend forward so children and adults alike can pile in and out without hassle. Imagine, no more stubbed toes or bruised knees when trying to move from the second to the third row. This little benefit is actually quite big.
- Hands-Free Capabilities. What’s one of the most frustrating things about traveling with the kids? You see it all the time: a parent holding a child in one hand, bags of diapers or clothes in the other, fumbling to open the door to the vehicle before everything falls apart. Some car companies have created a back hatch that opens with the push of a button or swipe of a foot. This is nice, but the 2021 Pacifica takes it a step further by introducing self-opening sliding doors. That’s right, just hover your foot under the sliding door, and it magically opens on its own accord—the same goes for the back hatch!
- Equal Comfort Levels Throughout. Go ahead and try to find the most comfortable spot in the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica. As much as you move around, the only thing you’ll find is that each seat is just as plush and roomy and the next one. Typically, in minivans, it’s the third-row seating that causes the most problems. Passengers are squished in the back with tiny seats that are hard, rigid, and just plain uncomfortable. But not in the all-new Pacifica. Now you have plenty of room, plus third-row passengers get their own USB ports and cup holders. Whereas before no one wanted to sit in the very back, now your family and friends will be racing each other for that third row.
- Entertainment For Everyone. Chrysler includes its UCONNECT Theater system in the new Pacifica, and this means fun for everyone inside. There are two touchscreens fully equipped with games, apps, and a Blu-ray/DVD player. And what’s wonderful about UCONNECT is that it allows parents to control what the kids in the back are watching by including a “listen in” feature that, with a push of a button, shows on the front screen whatever is being watched or played in the back. Why doesn’t every vehicle have this?! Just another example of why the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is the minivan to beat.
- True Luxury Means Authentic Materials. Rather than the faux wood paneling and cheap plastic pieces found in most other minivans, the 2021 Pacifica holds to its luxury roots. Look as long as you like, you won’t find one piece of cheap material. From the thick leather seats to the soft-touch surfaces throughout, everything feels of true substance. This means you have the luxury now, and you will have it years later as well. Doesn’t sound much like a minivan, does it? That’s because the new Pacifica is a minivan in name only. Everything else is all about breaking the mold.

For Jeep Wrangler drivers, new and veteran, Spring is an exciting season. Sure the flowers are blooming and the sun is shining, but what Spring really means is that it’s time to begin deconstructing the Wrangler! Removing the top of your Jeep for the first time this season is sure to be a great feeling and, at Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we have a few important tips for getting it done quickly and correctly.
Any seasoned Jeep owner will tell you there is nothing like running a Wrangler down the road with the top off—you sitting, at that elevation with that iconic machine, it makes driving in a convertible feel like opening a window. The next thing that seasoned Wrangler driver will tell you is that there are steps to removing the top, but as you practice, you learn little shortcuts, finding your way of doing things. In the mean time, however, start with the basics, the fundamental steps to both hardtop and soft-top removal on your Jeep Wrangler.
Hardtop Removal
Removing your hardtop is a two-person job. (You might be able to do it by yourself but, because of its weight, we suggest phoning a friend or calling a neighbor over.) Rather than the top being constructed as one long piece, it is separated into three individual pieces, all of them pretty heavy. Here are the steps we suggest:
- Remove the eight (two behind the vanity mirrors that pop out and six others that turn inward) latches from inside the cabin, all of which are easy enough to loosen.
- Take off each of the eight latches and store them either in the trunk of the Jeep or in your garage for safekeeping.
- Every Wrangler comes standard with a tool kit located in the glove compartment or in the rear of the vehicle. Access and remove this kit, as all tools will be needed to finish removing the hardtop.
- Behind the driver’s seat, find the windshield wiper fluid line, water hose, and other wires along with them. Next to the wires, line, and hose, there is a red switch. Push the switch to remove the bundle and plug everything into the fitted housing on the same platform.
- Using the tool kit, remove the six or so screws holding the top down (located on the sides of the Jeep—three on each side). Once removed, place in the designated spot (grommets specially made to hold each screw) in the rear of the Wrangler.
- Next is the tough part. You and a friend need to lift the top and walk it off the Jeep. We highly recommend having an elevated space ready to hold the top. The less you have to bend over, the better. And remember, lift with your knees, not your back!
And there you have it. Hardtop removed.
Soft-Top Removal
Removing a soft-top is much easier than a hardtop. This is one you can do alone, or with a friend to make it faster. Here are the basic steps:
- Open the trunk and snap out the plastic tables built into the bottom folds of the rear windshield covering. These truly snap out and should not cause any trouble when removing.
- Locate the column closest to the trunk. Take each side and pop out, and peel back the Velcro.
- Detach both rear side windows and place them securely in the trunk.
- Find the two black latches on the middle of the cabin towards the front. Remove the vanity mirror and pull each latch all the way down. Once both are fully pulled, the soft-top will immediately loosen.
- Next, lift the soft-top off—this would be easier with the help of someone else, but since the top is pretty light, it’s not as needed as with the hardtop. While you are raising the top with your arms, push up, and backward and the entire top should begin to slowly fall back as the track leads it with your guidance.
- Once all the way back, find the latch and connect the top down firmly. Lock it in place and you are finished.
Remember, it may sound a bit complicated, but as you practice you get better. Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is here to help! There’s something special about tinkering around with your Wrangler, so get that top off and get out on the open road.

“Plug Into More Adventure” is the motto around Jeep these days. The arrival of the much-anticipated Wrangler 4xe comes boldly, addressing key issues head-on with plug-in vehicles—especially those vehicles with the brute force and physique of the Wrangler—such as range anxiety, longevity, and overall power. The Wrangler 4xe is a powerhouse of an SUV, and the most electric Wrangler we’ve ever seen. Jeep has just made history with the all-new Wrangler 4xe Hybrid.
The arrival of a new Wrangler is always exciting. Over the decades the Jeep Wrangler has grown up with us, it has become a part of our lives. With that iconic front grille and headlights, the boxy frame, the endless capabilities, the Wrangler is as American as apple pie, and though the times they are changing, Jeep Wrangler is changing right along with them.
With a new electric-hybrid Wrangler, Jeep is putting a bold foot forward and setting a standard for plug-in SUVs. The all-new Wrangler 4xe is everything you want in a Wrangler and so much more.
Capability
The Wrangler 4xe is more than capable. With 470 pound-feet of torque, the 4xe can climb over tough terrain and hit 0-60 miles per hour within 6 seconds. So, it’s tough and fast? No—it’s way more than that.
First and foremost, the new Wrangler identifies as a 4×4. After all, how could a venerable machine such as the Jeep Wrangler deny its roots: traipsing through rock and dirt, pulling and pushing through mud and sand. But over the last decade or so, the Wrangler has become more comfortable, more family-friendly, but without losing its edge and power. Now add some electric sporty speed and the new Wrangler becomes a triple threat.
The Wrangler 4xe provides 375 horsepower and comes with a 2.0-liter, I4 DOHC direct-injection Turbo PHEV engine that allows for the very best power and capability. There’s also a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, a regenerative brake booster, and an 8-speed automatic transmission constantly providing power and charge to each wheel of the Wrangler. And what’s really great about all this is that the battery pack and electronics are sealed and waterproofed so you can drive in up to 30 inches of water without any interference.
Range Anxiety
Here’s a quick way to quell that range anxiety: the Wrangler 4xe gets 49 mpg, and it has a 370-mile range!
Since there are different modes the Wrangler 4xe can operate under (more on this in a minute), you are able to maintain control no matter the driving conditions. The E-Save driving mode, in particular, allows you to drive for long distances due to the fact it only uses battery power for low-emissions zones like cities or light off-roading. This saves battery power for later and gives you, the driver, the best of both worlds—a powerful, fun drive that saves power and enables you to drive farther.
Here are more driving modes and cool features to the Wrangler 4xe:
- Hybrid Mode.
This is the 4xe’s default mode, as it combines the turbocharged engine’s torque with the electric motors to provide plenty of horsepower and instant torque, but by using the electric power first. This mode saves on fuel but doesn’t lack any power.
- Electric Mode.
To run fully electric, the Wrangler only requires a 1% charge. Under the Electric Mode, and with a full charge, the 4xe can go for 21 miles, producing almost no tailpipe emissions even at highway speeds.
- Regenerative Braking.
This impressive feature actually charges your battery while you decelerate and brake. The Max Regeneration technology accesses the accelerator pedal and commands more aggressive regen at low pedal positions. What exactly does that mean? It means that the vehicle can slow down without pressing the brake pedal, and while the Wrangler is decelerating, the battery is building power for later use. This feature stays on until you turn it off.
- Rechargeable Feature.
It only takes 2 hours to fully recharge the Wrangler 4xe’s battery when using a Level II charger (240-volt), while it takes 12 hours using the Level I charger (120-volt that comes included with your new 4xe). We strongly suggest purchasing a Level II ($500-$700), especially if you plan to utilize the electric feature of the SUV a lot—and why wouldn’t you?
Incentives for Buying the Wrangler 4xe
Did you know that when you get any new Jeep vehicle you are automatically enrolled into what’s called the “Jeep Wave” program? This is a maintenance-free, thirty-day period for every Jeep purchase or lease on 2021 models. It comes with free maintenance and dedicated support anytime (24/7), plus much more—it’s actually cited on the Jeep website as being “the most valuable customer care program in America.”
But there’s more. There are also state incentives to buying electric or hybrid vehicles. For instance, in North Carolina when you buy a hybrid Wrangler 4xe, you can get a tax credit, called “The Plug-in Electric Drive Vehicle Credit,” that offers up to $7,500.
There is also what’s called the “High Occupancy Vehicle Transportation Privilege,” which is a state benefit where qualified plug-in electric vehicles, such as the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, are able to operate in the high-occupancy vehicle lanes, but regardless of the number of occupants.
Check out the Jeep website to find out more about state incentives for buying or leasing the all-new Wrangler 4xe.
Wrangler 4xe Versus Land Rover
There is, and has been, a strong debate about who makes a better 4×4—Wrangler or Rover? And with the emergence of a hybrid Wrangler, we thought it would be a good idea to revisit this famous rivalry to see which is the better SUV.
Beginning with price, the Wrangler 4xe and the Rover Defender Hybrid both come at around $47,000. This is steep, but you have to keep in mind the state incentives you will be getting, as well as, all the cash you will save at the pump.
Looking at the standard Wrangler against the standard Land Rover, there are a lot of important aspects to consider:
- Wrangler has more headroom and front legroom
- The Wrangler has more clearance than the Rover
- Wrangler has thicker brakes and lighter rear wheels
- Both vehicles have similar transmission capabilities
- So far, the Wrangler has gone through more rigorous crash testing (and has produced strong results) than the standard Land Rover.
The biggest differences come by way of physique and interior comfort and design. The Wrangler is a bit more bare-boned than the Rover, but that simplicity is one of the aspects that has made the Wrangler popular. That said, there is plenty of new and impressive technology inside the new Wranglers—hybrid or otherwise—not to mention the plush upgrades you can make with seating and the dexterity of the machine as a whole.
But when it comes to driving, both vehicles are pretty similar; that is if you are on the pavement. Off-roading, we like the Wrangler much better. Its open-air design places passengers in nature with removable doors and windows. The Rover just doesn’t have the capability to transform as the Wranglers do, and that makes a huge difference. Then there’s the raw power of the Wrangler 4xe that is so impressive, each mode providing its own unique area of power and precision, 0-60 in 6 seconds, the list goes on.
Here is a specific comparison of key features to a Standard Wrangler, the Wrangler 4xe hybrid, and the Land Rover Defender, just to get a good look at how well the 4xe stands out:

In recent years, there has been a push for car companies to create electric versions of our favorite makes and models. Why go electric? For starters, you can save a ton of money on fuel and maintenance by driving an electric vehicle. On top of that, it looks as though electric vehicles are the future of driving because they are better for the environment, much cheaper on fuel, and require much less maintenance.
Just imagine having only one thing to take care of with your car—keeping it charged. No gas, no grimy oil changes, no multi-speed transmission. Kind of difficult to imagine, isn’t it? But in due time, it will be a reality.
Anytime new technology is introduced, people become wary of it, especially when that technology is to replace something we have grown accustomed to using, like a gas-powered, oil-slugging machine. We don’t like change, even when that change is for the better.
Car manufacturers such as Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram all know change is inevitable, which is why they are all gearing up to engage in the electric-vehicle phenomena. These same car companies know another piece of very important information: though we may be wary of it, once we spend a little time with a newer, safer method of driving, we will embrace the change.
What’s Coming
There is exciting news for some of our favorite car companies. A new wave of electric vehicles is to hit the market soon, and at Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram we have everything you need to know.
One of the most versatile trucks on the market, the Ram pickup, will come as fully electric within the next couple of years. The Ram EV will cost close to $70,000 when it first comes out, experts say, and the truck is sure to come fully prepped with all the newest technological features and updates.
In the same vein, it is just a matter of time before venerable companies like Jeep come out will all-electric vehicles—there is already a hybrid Wrangler that has been growing in popularity. According to Christian Meunier, the company’s global president, they are excited to start on electric and hybrid versions of the classic SUVs, starting with the China-market Jeep Commander. He also mentioned that by 2022, all Jeep models will have either an electric or hybrid version.
Electric Pacifica
The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is one of our favorite vehicles, and its electric version is just as impressive—maybe even more so. Sure it still has all the loveable features: the Touring editing comes with a built-in garage door opener, as well as, one-touch second-row power windows (with sunshades). There’s also a new Red S Appearance package that includes Rodeo Red Nappa leather upholstery (with Light Diesel Gray stitching and highlights) to dress-up the Pacifica even more.
Here are a few other key features to the Pacifica:
- A black Chrysler badge with a Velvet Red insert
- Black 18-inch alloy wheels
- 20-speaker Harman Kardon audio system
- A three-pane panoramic sunroof
- The UConnect Theater rear-seat entertainment system
- The addition of Advanced SafetyTec Group
But the biggest innovation is the electric option (a similar feature, the plug-in hybrid, has actually been available for some time). Modern innovation has created a better, safer, more responsible way to travel and it’s time to embrace the future of driving.
The Electric Pacifica
The Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In was the first hybrid minivan to enter the North American market, which is pretty groundbreaking. Since it was a plug-in hybrid, the Pacifica had a larger battery than a standard hybrid vehicle and could travel in full EV mode. With the battery positioned where the Stow N’ Go second-row seats were, the Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In almost retained the same level of practicality as its non-hybrid sibling, making the decision to go fully electric an easy one. A refreshed 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is just what we need, especially the new Pinnacle trim with more luxury-oriented features, Uconnect 5 infotainment system, and optional AWD.

It’s official, the 2021 Ram 1500, equipped with the Advanced Safety Group, has earned the Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The all-new Ram is the first and only pickup truck to win the prestigious award this year, but this comes as no surprise to truck lovers who have been rambling on about the Ram for decades.
This is not the first time the Ram 1500 has won the IIHS Top Safety Pick. It won last year as well, and it was granted the highest possible ratings in all six of the IIHS’s crash tests. Moreover, the IIHS has recognized the Ram 1500’s highly-effective Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) technology as one of the best in the business. The new Ram truck is as tough as it is safe, and that’s saying a lot.
What makes the 2021 Ram 1500 so dang special? Among other things, its 100 available safety and security features are what has piqued the attention of truck enthusiasts and safety regulatory specialists alike. According to Mike Koval Jr., Ram’s Chief Executive Officer, “A Top Safety Pick for the Ram 1500 solidifies our long-standing commitment to our customers through advanced technology and engineering expertise.” He also mentions that “This validation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety builds consumer confidence in our trucks and the Ram brand.”
The IIHS evaluates its vehicles rigorously by taking them through six crashworthiness tests, which include three different types of frontal crashes. Other tests are also conducted, which test the consistency of the side panels, rear panels, and there is a rollover test as well. In each and every one of these run-throughs, the 2021 Ram 1500 pickup earned the highest possible scores!
2021 Ram 1500’s Best Safety Features
The Ram 1500 has always been noted for its superior safety features, and over the years these features have only become more refined. As we become more advanced, so do our vehicles, which means it’s important that the Ram pickup keep up with the times. For instance, the IIHS has recently required—for those vehicle makers who wish to dawn the moniker of “Top Safety Pick”—Pedestrian Automatic Emergency Braking, which the Ram 1500 has had as an operational safety feature for years.
In order for the Ram’s Pedestrian Automatic Emergency Braking system to work properly, and most effectively, the range of the safety system’s radar technology has been expanded so that it can also identify pedestrians. What’s more, the Ram’s radar sensors, in combination with camera technology, will help determine if a collision with another vehicle appears unavoidable, and the system will deploy the brakes to help reduce the severity of the impact. Your Ram truck thinks along with you—and sometimes ahead of you—to keep you safe.
Pedestrian Automatic Emergency Braking is part of the Ram 1500’s available Advanced Safety Group package, a highly impressive group of systems. This group includes Lane Departure Warning-Plus; Rear Cross Path detection; Blind-spot Monitoring with trailer coverage and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop; and Go and Hold.
Because the Automatic Emergency Braking has become so important, in terms of safety, and since it has earned the highest possible rating in IIHS testing, Ram has made it standard equipment on Laramie, Rebel, Longhorn, Limited Longhorn, and Limited trim levels. AEB is also available in the Tradesman and Bighorn trims that have the Level 1 Equipment Group package.
Safety is a forefront idea in the Ram. It seems that everything the truck can do revolves around keeping you, and those with you, safe. Why would you want to drive anything else?
Why We Love the All-New Ram 1500
At Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we have always been big fans of Ram trucks because they, for some time now, have been the benchmark for what a truck can be. Ram was the first to offer high-level durability, technology, performance, efficiency, performance, and safety features never before offered in an American pickup. And they continue to do the same today. Just try and not get impressed with these specs:
· 1,075 lb.-ft. of torque with Cummins Turbo Diesel
· Towing capacity of 37,100 lbs. (in the Ram 3500)
· 1,000 lb.-ft of torque with Cummins Turbo Diesel
· Payload of 7,680 lbs. (in the Ram 3500)
· Most interior space with Ram Mega Cab
· Most capable full-size off-road pickup
· Most awarded light-duty truck in America
· Highest owner loyalty of any half-ton pickup
And if that’s not enough to get you excited, here are a couple more specific reasons we love the Ram pickup:
· The 2021 Ram 1500 tows up to 2,300 pounds of payload, an impressive amount, and it does so with ease.
· The Ram 1500 comes with the eTorque hybrid system that provides much improved fuel efficiency in both Ram configurations: the standard V-6 and the V-8.
· Combine the eTorque hybrid system and the 2,300 pounds of payload, and the Ram 1500 is easily the most powerful half-ton pickup—with 480 pounds-feet of torque and 33 miles-per-gallon (that’s up to 1,000 miles of range on one, single tank of fuel!).
· There is also the Uconnect 4C that works with a 12-inch touchscreen (which, impressively, includes split-screen capability, SiriusXM with 360L, 360-degree camera shots.
· One feature, offered in the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX, we know will quickly become everyone’s favorite is the Know & Go app. This easy app provides clear instructions and explanations on key features of the vehicle. This immersive experience guides the owner through undiscovered features, provides overviews on basic and complicated functionalities, “How-To” videos, and so much more.
Active safety and security systems, adaptive cruise control, Forward Collision Warning, Blind-spot Monitoring, Ready Alert Braking—the list goes on and on. The Ram, no matter the trim level, is packed full of high-tech and highly-efficient ingredients, making it our favorite truck.
The Ram’s Success
A big reason for the success of the Ram truck is its adaptive nature—the Ram is so much more than just a truck, it is a system that makes your driving experience so much more than a trip from one place to another.
The 2021 Ram 1500 makes big moves in way of hauling and towing. Its powerful engine can handle heavy-duty loads with ease and a smoothness that you’ll find is just not offered in other comparable trucks—namely, the Chevy Silverado or the Ford F150. Most other trucks are not powered by a revolutionary eTorque, hybrid engine that combines fuel and electricity. And, what keeps the Ram from swaying or vibrating while hauling or towing big loads is its high-strength steel frame. This sturdy skeleton offers up to 12,750 pounds of towing and 2,300 pounds of payload. For those drivers looking to haul on the regular, this is your truck. The 2021 Ram’s rugged luxury lets you get hard work done with style and comfort.
So how do you get one of America’s number one selling, top-of-the-line trucks for under for the best price possible? Easy. Come in to Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and we’ll have you driving out in the brand-new Ram of your dreams.

This year, Fiat Chrysler will be the very first car company to offer Amazon’s innovative AI-based technology, the Alexa Custom Assistant, which allows you to drive with a full-time assistant wherever you go. By building-in Alexa, your vehicle can communicate with you through a simple conversation, making your driving experience even more special.
Taking a road trip with Alexa is nothing new. Anyone can purchase and carry a portable Alexa so she can answer questions and work your calendar, but never have we seen a system that integrates with your vehicle so closely—literally, becoming a part of your car.
Fiat Chrysler will be the first automaker to use Alexa Custom Assistant alongside its own proprietary in-car voice assistant. By using this innovative technology, Alexa is able to communicate with your car’s Uconnect system, as well as, any other device connected: house lights, home alarm, etc. Imagine, speaking to your car to control your media, smart home devices, even to remind to you pick up groceries on the way home. And to make the prospect of driving with an assistant even more enticing, Fiat Chrysler will not charge for the integrated program.
How it Works
How will I differentiate between Alexa and my car’s Uconnect? Fiat Chrysler has set up the Alexa Custom Assistant in such a way that drivers won’t need to remember two wake-up phrases to access both systems. Simply use one wake-up phrase to access Alexa and she will take care of the rest. According to Amazon, “This allows the brand’s assistant to act as the product specialist, while Alexa is still available to help with everyday needs.”
Not only can you customize and use one wake-up word, but you can also customize voices and other intricate aspects to the system’s capabilities. Amazon’s goal with the Custom Assistant is to have a system that can be personalized by each user so each conversation with Alexa is unique. Now your Chrysler is even more tailored to you.
What we really like about this close relationship between Fiat Chrysler and Alexa is that it’s all based on language, which allows you to keep your eyes on the road and your hands upon the wheel at all times. What’s more, this language will constantly be improving.
Since your Alexa Custom Assistant will be powered by Amazon, it will continually improve and update its language understanding, intent routing, intelligence, and response speed so you are always working with the most updated and innovative virtual assistant created.
Different car brands can even create their own unique voice that guides the driver through the system’s functionality, making the technology suite even more unique and enticing.
Now, from the comfort of your own vehicle, you can use an intelligent assistant to control a range of devices like increasing or decreasing the incline on a treadmill, changing the channel on a stereo system or television, even starting a robot vacuum!
Looking ahead, more car companies are indicating a possible relationship with Amazon’s custom software. Lamborghini and Rivian vehicles hope to have Amazon control basic functions such as climate control, windows, media, and phone calls.
Benefits to Riding with Alexa

With Alexa, the Uconnect voice command system becomes more powerful. Answering the phone, making calls and texts, even controlling your music has never been easier—and safer. The Alexa Custom Assistant system gives you plenty of reasons not to look at your phone while driving.
You can connect all sorts of systems and devices by using your new smart assistant. SiriusXM Guardian and Roadside Assistance both connect to Alexa Custom Assistant so that you can have remote access from just about anywhere. This allows you to maintain control of your safety and entertainment at all times.

Ram on a Roll: The 2021 Truck of the Year Is Everything You’ve Heard and More

Another year gone, another “Truck of the Year” award won. The Ram lineup of trucks is just that: the best. It’s quite difficult to find faults with any of the Ram light-duty or heavy-duty models, so it should come as no surprise that they continue to impress even the strictest automotive critics out there. And since it became a standalone brand in 2009, Ram has consistently produced top-notch pickup trucks and garnered more loyalty among pickup enthusiasts than any other brand.
Think this is just another article that’s going to overhype a particular vehicle in hopes that it leads to another sale or two? Nah. The Ram trucks speak for themselves—and very loudly, for that matter—so no exaggeration or flattery is necessary. We’re simply here to talk about the facts and explain what makes Ram Truck stand out among the competition. More specifically, we’re going to talk about the 2021 Ram 1500. Let’s get started.
MOTORTREND TRUCK OF THE YEAR (AGAIN)
Every year, MotorTrend names one “Truck of the Year,” as it does with vehicles in all the other segments. This is among the most prestigious awards a pickup can earn, which is saying a lot considering how competitive the segment is. Not surprisingly, the accolade is highly coveted by every manufacturer in the automotive industry. To win the award, a vehicle must prove to be generally superior to its competitors, make a profound impact on the industry, and provide exemplary value overall.
The process through which MotorTrend chooses its winners is a vigorous one, and it’s open to all new-generation vehicles and those that have undergone consequential upgrades. Each vehicle is thoroughly evaluated and analyzed from the inside out through a series of performance tests. Then, professional drivers take each vehicle through three different test courses to assess its performance. Testing all of the vehicles takes weeks, after which judges decide which ones will carry the banner “Of the Year.” Six factors determine the winner of each segment:
- Design advancement
- Engineering excellence
- Efficiency
- Safety
- Value
- Performance of intended function
Ram Truck has taken this award three years in a row: 2019, 2020, and 2021. The manufacturer has won the award six times since 2010. That’s pure domination. In an ultra-competitive pickup segment, the 2021 Ram 1500 excels in everything from performance and capability to comfort and style.
FEATURES
Without further ado, let’s dive into some of the details of why the Ram 1500 is the best truck you can buy this year:
Upgrades for 2021
There’s a new Ram 1500 model in town, and it’s nasty. In fact, it’s what earned Ram the 2021 Truck of the Year award. The 1500 TRX is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8; you might know it as the Hellcat engine. But the emergence of the TRX has also led to many significant upgrades to other 1500 models in 2021. For example, an all-digital rearview mirror and head-up display are optional, and the infotainment system now offers off-road pages that display various performance measures, such as pitch-and-roll monitoring, transfer-case mode, and ride height.
The Trailer Reverse Steering Control is also a new option, which is a semi-autonomous technology that makes backing up a trailer easier than ever, as are new trailer tire pressure monitoring and light check systems. Furthermore, the Advanced Safety package has improved by adding pedestrian detection, and forward-collision warning is now available on more models than in previous years. And then there’s the Ram 1500 Limited Longhorn 10th Anniversary Edition, which boasts a Mountain Brown interior and special badging along the exterior and interior.
Powertrains
There are five different engines available for the 2021 Ram 1500. No matter what trim you go with, power is not going to be a problem. The base engine is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that pushes 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. A step up, and you get a 3.0-liter Ecodiesel V6 that’s good for 260 hp and 480 lb-ft.
The real fun begins with the Hemi V8 engines. There are two 5.7-liter V8 engines that each produce 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque—one is solely gasoline-powered, and the other is paired with the eTorque electric motor. Then there’s the Hellcat engine that comes standard on the Ram 1500 TRX. This 6.2-liter V8 is a monster of an engine rated at 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. It enables the truck to hit 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and reach a quarter-mile in 12.3 seconds. Absurd, we know.
Every available engine for the 2021 Ram 1500 is matched with the TorqueFlight eight-speed automatic transmission. This transmission has been lauded for its smooth shifting and responsiveness.
Towing Capability
Depending on the engine, the Ram 1500 can tow anywhere between 7,410 and 12,750 lbs (with a maximum payload of 2,320 lbs). The maximum towing capacity is bested only by the Ford F-150, which tops out above 13,000 lbs. While the base engine provides decent towing capability, the V8 or diesel engines are ideal for towing.
Ride and Handling
No full-size pickup truck is going to provide you with the handling prowess of a smaller vehicle. But compared to the competition, the Ram 1500 is the most stable and composed around bends. Nonetheless, ride quality is where this truck really stands out. Virtually all of its competitors use a conventional leaf-spring suspension system. Every Ram 1500 comes with either an exclusive link coil rear or auto-level air suspension system, both of which offer a far superior ride. It’s so plush, it’s easy to forget you’re riding in a truck.
Interior Comfort
The interior of the 2021 Ram 1500 is unmatched by other pickup trucks. Whatever trim you choose, you’ll get a beautiful, well-designed cabin with lots of premium materials. The higher trims are so luxurious that you can almost forget you’re driving the meanest truck on the market.
Six people can fit in the Ram 1500. It comes standard with synthetic leather and cloth upholstery, as well as a folding rear bench seat. Of course, genuine leather seats are available, as are heated and ventilated seats (front and rear), a heated steering wheel, and eight-way power-adjustable driver and front passenger seats.
There is lots of head- and legroom in both the Quad Cab and Crew Cab. While adults can ride comfortably in the rear seats of the Quad Cab, the Crew Cab leads the class in rear-seat head and legroom. Additionally, it’s easy to get in and out of the cab thanks to oversized doors. The seats themselves are as comfortable and supportive as you will find in a pickup truck, no matter what kind of upholstery you get.
Technology Features
Technology is not lacking in the 2021 Ram 1500 either. All models come with a rearview camera, a five-inch infotainment touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, a six-speaker audio system, a Wi-Fi hotspot, several USB ports, and a push-button start. You can opt for a larger touchscreen (8.4 or 12 inches), navigation, satellite radio, HD Radio, wireless charging, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and more USB ports. There are also three different premium audio systems available, along with dual-zone automatic climate control and a sunroof.
Not surprisingly, the 12-inch touchscreen is a rare gem for vehicles. And the Uconnect infotainment system is the best in the industry. Along with a responsive touchscreen, the Uconnect comes with intuitive menu layouts that are easy to navigate. Plus, the screen layout is customizable so that you can use shortcuts to the features and functions of your choosing. All these features combined with the overall quality of the cabin make for one killer interior.
Utility
The 2021 Ram 1500 is just as useful as it is nice to look at. All and all, it’s the perfect truck for both work and play. The cargo bed is available in two different lengths: 6’4” and 5’7”. Loading and hauling various items is easy-peasy; it’s clear that this was a priority for Ram when designing every 1500 model. For example, four-foot-wide sheets of plywood can fit between the wheel wells with no problem.
A wealth of features add utility to the bed. This includes the exclusive RamBox Cargo Management System, which allows you to store a variety of items (you can even use it as a cooler) and power devices and tools on the go through a 115-volt auxiliary outlet. The multifunction tailgate comes with a 60/40 split door; you can either open the gate using the split or drop it down the conventional way. A center bed step improves access to the front of the bed, and the 60/40 doors are designed to swing away, which allows you to easily access the cargo bed when trailering.
Moreover, the Ram 1500 comes with the option of RamBins located inside the cabin underneath the cargo floor in the rear seat. There is also a sizable center console available that can store all kinds of things, and all the rear bench seats can fold flat.
Style
The 2019 Ram 1500 that won the MotorTrend award was so attractive, its styling so well-considered inside and out, that it was hard to imagine it improving. Yet, here we are. The 2021 models look even better. And there is an unmatched breadth to the Ram 1500 lineup. The Tradesman trim is contemporary and attractive, yet ready for the job site. The Laramie Longhorn trim is as western-inspired as you would hope. The Ram 1500 Limited is the closest thing you will get to a luxury truck, and the stylings of the Rebel and TRX trims are dialed in with rugged, off-road perfection.
Safety
The 2021 Ram 1500 performed well in the major crash tests, especially for a full-size truck. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave it four out of five stars for overall safety, including five stars in the side crash test and four stars in the frontal crash test. It received a Good rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, which IIHS’s highest rating, in all of the organization’s six tests. Furthermore, IIHS gave the Ram 1500 a Superior rating for its vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system (which is optional) and an Advanced rating for the available vehicle-to-pedestrian system.
There is no shortage of advanced safety features included in the 2021 Ram 1500. All models come with a rearview camera. Optional is a head-up display, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beams, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision alert, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, pedestrian detection, 360-degree parking camera system, rear cross-traffic alert, parallel/perpendicular parking assist, front and rear parking sensors, and adaptive cruise control.
In Sum
There’s a reason the Ram 1500 earned the 2021 MotorTrend Truck of the Year award: It leads the class in a lot of categories, and it’s by far the most impressive pickup truck overall. It provides superior performance, capability, comfort, and style, and it offers all the modern features you could ask for. Dodge Steps Up Performance for the 2021 Model Year (If You Can Believe It)

Dodge has long been known for manufacturing vehicles that provide legendary performance. The combination of sheer power, muscle, and general toughness exhibited by models like the Challenger and Charger have remained unmatched by competitors for decades—despite many, many attempts.
That said, it’s hard to imagine how Dodge’s lineup of vehicles could significantly improve in those areas. Yet, here we are. It’s 2021, and America’s car manufacturer has added even more high-performance variations to its lineup. The Challenger and Charger both get some upgrades that will make muscle car fans salivate. But the improvements don’t stop with the coupe and sedan; the Durango also joins the party.
If you’re looking for the meanest, most American car on the planet, look no further. These Dodge high-performance models are as good as it gets (so far):
Challenger SRT Super Stock
This generation of the Challenger is in its 14th year of production, and its success is showing no signs of slowing down. That just goes to show how classic this muscle car really is. As in previous years, the 2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock is, of course, insanely powerful. But it also provides a spacious cabin that allows the coupe to comfortably fit four adults. Moreover, drivers have plenty of modern technology at their fingertips, and the ride is much smoother than the horsepower would suggest.

Speaking of horsepower, the Challenger SRT Super Stock comes with a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 that pushes a whopping 807 horses. This engine enables the car to travel 0-60 seconds in just 3.25 seconds. Whew.
The SRT Super Stock is a widebody that rides on 18”x11” aluminum wheels. Nitto NTO5 drag radials wrap the wheels, which are the same tires found on the 2018 Challenger Redeye Demon. There have been several suspension improvements made on the SRT Super Stock for the 2021 model year, including re-tuned Bilstein dampers, launch-related upgrades, and a variety of drive modes meant to provide firmer ride and handling. New, incredibly-powerful brakes with Brembo four-piston brake calipers and 14.2” vented rotors top off the list of changes.
Charger SRT Hellcat and Hellcat Redeye
You love the Challenger. But it doesn’t provide quite enough room to haul your speed-obsessed family and friends around. Enter the 2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and SRT Hellcat Redeye. Like the Challenger, both of these Charger trims are comfortable to drive, and they come with loads of standard safety features, an impressive infotainment system, and nice luxury touches like leather upholstery and heated and ventilated front seats.
Both the Charger SRT Hellcat and SRT Hellcat Redeye provide absurd power. The Hellcat Redeye, which is designed to complement the Challenger trim of the same name, runs on the same engine: the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8. This engine provides 797 hp (80 more than the Hellcat), 707 lb-ft of torque, and a max speed of 203 mph. The Hellcat keeps it more responsible at just 717 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. All jokes aside, that’s still 10 more hp than the 2020 Charger SRT Hellcat produced.
Both the Hellcat Redeye and Hellcat come with a new hood for the 2021 model year, which includes a bigger hood scoop to enhance air intake. And you can get a widebody version of the Hellcat, which extends the car’s width by 3.5 inches.

Durango SRT Hellcat
The 2021 Durango SRT Hellcat brings outrageous to the mid-size SUV market. Yes, it will comfortably fit three rows of passengers, and cargo space will allow you to carry plenty of groceries. It, too, provides quite a cushiony ride considering what lies beneath the hood. And it comes with plenty of safety features and luxuries, as well as FCA’s newest infotainment system (Uconnect 5) and a 10.1-inch touchscreen.
The 2021 Durango SRT Hellcat is powered by the same supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 mentioned earlier, which enables the SUV to pump out 710 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque. The top speed is 180 mph, and 0-60 mph is rated at 3.5 seconds (remember, this is a three-row SUV). The towing capacity for the Durango SRT Hellcat is 8,700 pounds. FCA has confirmed that 2021 will be the only model year that the Durango SRT Hellcat will be available.
Conclusion
If you’re into high-performance automobiles, this is your year. Dodge has delivered with its 2021 versions of the Challenger SRT Super Stock, Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye and Hellcat, and Durango SRT Hellcat. Each model is wonderfully preposterous without sacrificing comfort. But you shouldn’t take our word for it. Schedule some test drives at Mount Airy CDJRF to experience the power yourself!

The Jeep brand has taken its iconic image to another level by making its SUVs, not only rugged and tough but also fast and eco-friendly. The modern Jeep is an evolutionary spectacle from which other car manufacturers are struggling to contend with. What makes the Jeep brand so special? At Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram we have all the information you need on all Jeep models.
Let’s begin with the new and impressive Jeep Gladiator. In some ways, the all-new Jeep Gladiator is exactly what it looks like: half-Jeep and half-truck. In other ways, it is way more: a beefy vehicle that’s not afraid to go off-roading or flying down the open road; a midsized pickup that is so advanced there is nothing else out there quite like it; and a family car offering smooth, easy driving. Sounds almost too good to be true, we know, but it isn’t. This newfangled utility vehicle is sure to turn heads and impress even the most knowledgeable car enthusiasts, and this cool truck is a prime example of Jeep pushing the idea of what a vehicle can be and do. The Gladiator is something that has never been done before.
Even though it’s the brand’s first pickup since 1992, Jeep has not failed to keep up with what the modern consumer wants and needs in a truck. This is important—knowing how the pickup of today is used—because trucks aren’t what they used to be. Whereas before they were these clunky, minimalist vehicles made for either hauling or towing, they are now built to be the all-encompassing vehicle that offers a smooth ride with advanced capabilities to make everyone happy, children and adults alike. It’s also not afraid to hit the road with a quick punch and high acceleration but also operates as a rugged truck. It’s hard to comprehend—a truck that is fast and tough.
The same could be said about the Wrangler: once an ultra-rugged machine meant to get dirty, rusty, and beat up, the more modern versions have managed to keep the original toughness, but add in a lot of luxury, new technology, and speed. Jeep has proven in the past they are willing and capable of keeping up with the most modern advances, but with the Gladiator, they actually take the lead in innovation.
This innovative spirit is really what Jeep is all about: take something already proven and making it better. And in this case, Jeep has taken both the Wrangler (their own classic vehicle) and the concept of a midsize pickup to new levels by meshing them together.
E-Wrangler
Since we mentioned the Wrangler (one of our favorite vehicles ever!), let’s look at the all-new electric version. The electric-hybrid Wrangler puts a bold foot forward and sets a standard for plug-in SUVs. The all-new Wrangler 4xe is everything you want in a Wrangler and so much more.
The Wrangler 4xe is more than capable of hitting high speeds and conquering tough terrain. With 470 pound-feet of torque, the 4xe can climb over tough terrain and hit 0-60 miles-per-hour within 6 seconds. So, it’s tough and fast? No—it’s actually way more than that.
The new Wrangler identifies as a 4×4.
Another perfect example of the Jeep brand’s forward-thinking development, the e-Wrangler is multiple vehicles in one but without being so versatile that it gets lost in the confusion. Take what works and make it better. That is the Jeep way.

The Gladiator is the first pickup truck offered by Jeep in decades. Sharing many traits with its sibling Wrangler, the Gladiator provides much of what the Wrangler does along with the many benefits that come with a pickup truck. As can be expected from Jeep, the Gladiator doesn’t disappoint when it comes to rugged styling and off-road performance. At the same time, it makes for a smooth and comfortable daily commute.
The 2021 Gladiator comes in nine different trim levels and a truckload of available upgrades (pun intended). If you’re the kind of person who gets stressed out by too many options, here’s something to comfort you: You can’t go wrong with any of the Jeep Gladiator trims, especially when it comes to hauling, towing, and driving on rough terrain. Furthermore, each model comes standard with four doors, a crew cab, a five-foot cargo bed, four-wheel-drive, and a V6 engine.
Among the many Gladiator trims, the Mojave stands out in a number of ways from the others. While Jeep is no stranger to producing “Trail Rated” vehicles, the Gladiator Mojave is its first “Desert Rated” one. Below, we’ll uncover exactly what that means. And while we’re at it, we’ll discuss the other eight trims so that you can compare and choose the right model for you.
THE DESERT-READY GLADIATOR MOJAVE
In order for a Jeep vehicle to earn a “Desert Rated” badge, it must provide superior performance over competitors in five categories: ride control and stability, traction, ground clearance, maneuverability, and desert prowess:
Ride Control and Stability
The Gladiator Mojave is equipped with Fox 2.5-inch-diameter aluminum internal-bypass remote reservoir shocks, which dissipate the heat that comes from driving at high speeds over rough desert terrain. Consequently, the shocks are less likely to bottom out. For extra stability, the front track of the Mojave is extended by a half-inch.
What’s more, a class-exclusive, military-grade suspension fluid is used to keep the shocks working at peak level even in extreme temperatures. And then there are the hydraulic jounce bumpers, which send fluid to a reservoir; this results in a smoother ride.
Traction
The Mojave’s superior traction performance comes from a number of components. For starters, it uses the NV241 Command-Trac transfer case (2:72:1 low-range ratio) and third-generation Dana 44 axles in the front and rear (4.10:1 axle ratio), which include a standard electronic locking rear differential. While drivers of the Gladiator Rubicon can use locked-differential low-speed running up to 30 mph, the Mojave allows for it up to 50 mph.
Finally, 33-inch Falken Wildpeak All-Terrain tires are thrown in the mix. These tires are specifically designed for performing in the sand, and they’re distinguishable for a tread pattern that extends well past the sidewall.
Ground Clearance
Here’s another comparison between the Trail-Rated Rubicon and Desert-Rated Mojave. To allow for more jounce travel, the Mojave’s front suspension is one inch higher off the ground. The rear of the truck isn’t lifted, and the Mojave’s ground clearance comes in at 11.6 inches, which is about a half-inch higher than the Rubicon’s. It also comes with a front skid plate.
Maneuverability
The Mojave demonstrates excellent maneuverability. To account for desert terrain and obstacles, the suspension is specially-tuned so that drivers can quickly correct the truck’s path when necessary. It’s as nimble at high speeds as you will find in a pickup truck.
Desert Prowess
This category refers to the truck’s performance in the dust, sand, extreme heat, and other harsh desert conditions. Thanks to the Gladiator’s induction and cooling systems, it’s a class-leader in this regard.
Appearance
As impressive as the Gladiator Mojave performs, it’s just as astonishing to look at. Its exterior and interior design is classic Jeep through and through. Even though it’s a new vehicle, when you see it on the road, it gives off the vibe that it’s always been around.
Orange is a recurring theme throughout the Mojave—and it’s boldly-yet-tastefully done. An orange-shadow “MOJAVE” lettering on the side of the hood coincides with the orange tow hooks, and orange accents can be found in numerous places in the cabin, including the upholstery, dash, steering wheel, vents, gearshift, handbrake, and transfer-case boots. You can opt for cloth or leather seats in Steel Gray or black, both of which pop nicely against the orange stitching. Exterior paint options include black, Granite Crystal Metallic, Sting Gray, Billet Silver, Hydro Blue Pearl, Snazzberry Pearl, Firecracker Red, and Bright White.

THE OTHER TRIMS
With any 2021 Jeep Gladiator model you choose, you’ll get a four-door pickup with a crew cab, a five-foot cargo bed, four-wheel-drive, and a 3.6-liter V6 engine (285 horsepower, 260 pound-feet of torque). Also available is a 3.0-liter V6 turbo-diesel that pushes 260 hp and 442 lb-ft. However, there are some significant differences between the trims to consider before landing on a decision:
Gladiator Sport
The Jeep Gladiator Sport is the base model. It comes with black 17-inch steel wheels and all-terrain tires. Drivers get two cloth bucket seats in the front and a six-way manual-adjustable driver’s seat. The Gladiator Sport also comes standard with the basic Uconnect 3 infotainment system, a five-inch touchscreen, USB ports, Bluetooth, and Voice Command and Hands-Free Calling. It’s worth noting that if safety is one of your primary concerns, the Sport trim may not provide enough security for you, as the standard safety features are minimum.
Gladiator Willys Sport
There are some cosmetic exterior upgrades that come with the Gladiator Willys Sport. For example, you get a black-out front grille, a black “Trail Rated” badge, a 4×4 decal, a “Willys” decal, and body-color fender flares. The Willys Sport comes with 17-inch aluminum wheels and 32-inch mud-terrain tires.
The interior of the Willys Sport is the simplest of all the trims, as it’s designed for quick cleaning, and it’s outfitted with all-weather floor mats. The infotainment features are the same as in the Gladiator Sport. Daytime running lamps and a 97-mpg maximum cutoff feature come standard on the Willys Sport, and you can opt for Selec-Speed Control (which is also available on the Sport). This automatically manages your speed when the 4-LO gear is engaged, leading to enhanced off-road performance.
Gladiator Sport S
As the name suggests, the Gladiator Sport S is much like the Sport trim, except it has more features and you can opt for certain upgrade packages that are unavailable on the Sport. The Sport S comes standard with silver 17-inch wheels, power windows and locks, a power-locking tailgate, heated exterior side mirrors, remote keyless entry, and automatic headlights.
With the Sport S, you can opt for the Cold Weather Package, which includes heated front seats. If you want a little more oomph in the airwaves, a premium Alpine audio system is available. And you can get LED taillights too. Safety gets a bump on this trim as well, as you can add adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert.
Gladiator Willys
OK, most people get confused with the names of the Gladiator trim levels by this point, so let’s do a quick overview of how these first four trims compare:
Think of the Willys Sport and Willys trims as special editions. That is, the Willys Sport is basically a special edition of the Sport trim, and the Willys trim is pretty much a special edition of the Sport S. The Sport S trim is simply an upgraded Sport model. So, the Gladiator Willys provides the same features as the Sport S, along with the same cosmetic upgrades as the Willys Sport.
Both the Sport S and Willys trims come standard with the Uconnect 4 infotainment system, a seven-inch touchscreen, and the option of built-in navigation. One notable difference is that the Sport S offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard while the Willys does not. Along with the black-out grille and “Willys” decals, the Gladiator Willys also comes with red shock absorbers.
Gladiator Overland
If there was a luxury model of the 2021 Jeep Gladiator, this would be it. With daily commuters in mind, the Overland was designed with added features to boost comfort and convenience. It rides on 18-inch Granite Crystal aluminum wheels and all-season road tires. It comes stock with special cloth bucket seats, though you can opt for leather upholstery. You can also opt for the Uconnect 4 infotainment system with upgrades, including an 8.4-inch touchscreen. Also available are LED ambient lighting in the cabin.
The Overland may be the closest thing to luxury that a utility vehicle can be, but its capability is not compromised. It’s still a towing-and-hauling machine that can provide top-notch performance off the beaten path.
Gladiator 80th Anniversary Edition
The Gladiator 80th Anniversary Edition is a special edition trim that comes with plenty of bells and whistles. Heated exterior side mirrors, automatic headlights, and an upgraded bumper with gray accents are included. A body-color grille with gray accents comes standard, as do “80th Anniversary” badges on the exterior (which appear in the interior too) and tinted sunscreen windows.
Jeep’s top-of-the-line infotainment system (Uconnect 4) also comes standard in the 80th Anniversary Edition, as well as the premium Alpine audio system, a power-locking tailgate, and speed-sensitive power locks. The niceties carry over to the interior, including a leather steering wheel, a gunmetal bezel surrounding the instrument cluster, and tungsten accents throughout the cabin.
Safety gets better with the 80th Anniversary Edition, as it provides Selec-Speed Control, a security alarm, and remote keyless entry. And you can opt for all of Jeep’s safety and driver-assist features via packages if you so desire.
Gladiator Rubicon
We’ve already discussed the Rubicon a little bit, but there are some other notable aspects to consider as you choose which Jeep Gladiator to buy. Everything about the Rubicon is designed for optimal off-road performance. For instance, it comes with special low gear ratios that help with rock crawling and navigating jagged terrain. It also provides a specially-tuned suspension and 33-inch all-terrain tires. The Rubicon will get you over/through pretty much anything, whether it’s mud, sand, rocks, or low levels of water. You get the picture.
Keep in mind that the Rubicon is first and foremost a rugged, performance-focused machine. Thus, many of the infotainment upgrades, safety features, and driver assists are optional instead of standard.
Gladiator High Altitude
Like the Mojave, the Jeep Gladiator High Altitude is a special model that caters to a specific region of the country. Rather than the desert, however, the High Altitude is built for mountainous and rocky areas. It comes standard with heavy-duty Dana 44 wide axles, and an eight-speed automatic transmission to pair with the V6 engine (most other configurations are a six-speed automatic or manual).
While some of the other models sport accents or blacked-out features, the High Altitude comes with a body-color grille, bumpers, and exterior mirrors. You get glossy black 20-inch aluminum wheels and all-season tires. Another feature worth mentioning is the three-piece hardtop that you can easily remove. This trim is topped off with the Uconnect 4 infotainment system, premium Alpine audio system, and quilted Nappa leather seats—all of which are standard.
Which Model Should You Buy?
One of the best things about buying a 2021 Jeep Gladiator is that you are sure to get a truck that performs excellent with hauling, towing, and navigating rough terrain—no matter which trim you choose. The Sport and Sport S models are going to be your most budget-friendly options. The Overland is perfect for those who drive primarily on the pavement, the Rubicon is the best choice if your main goal is to go recreational off-roading, and the Mojave is ideal if you drive in desert regions and/or participate in off-road racing. The High Altitude is primed for those who drive a lot in the mountains.
You have a lot of options and trim levels when it comes to the 2021 Jeep Gladiator. But don’t get stressed out. Schedule some test drives with us at Mount Airy CDJRF, and we’ll help you pick the perfect one!
