Get It Before It’s Too Late! Best Offers of the Season at Mount Airy CDJFR
You kicked off the season getting stuffed at Thanksgiving, survived Black Friday shopping, and now you are full swing into the holidays. So what’s next? If you’re in the market for a new or used vehicle, you are definitely after the lowest prices possible. The magic of the holiday season is all around, which is why we’re excited to tell you about the lowest prices you can find all year here at Mount Airy CDJRF.
It’s the coldest season of the year with the hottest deals.

Customers are always looking for a way to strategize their shopping to get the best deals. On Black Friday, everyone has their sights set on major purchases like 4K flat-screen televisions, which is why it is actually worth heading out to the lines and experiencing some minor aggression to save hundreds. Car dealerships are no different, except luckily for you, there are no lines to wait in, no fellow customers to fight, excellent customer service at your service, and the only aggression you will experience is from the aggressive discounts on year-end sales.
Why is it good to buy at the end of the year?
It isn’t really insider knowledge that the end of the year is the best time to buy a vehicle. Automakers and dealer incentives overlap on for the end of quarter and year sales, meaning the best discounts on the most popular models. Sales people are incentivized with financial bonuses, meaning the more they sell, the more they make, offsetting any discount given on a single vehicle.
The triad of great deals and rich incentives from dealerships converges nearing the end of December. Basically, this means that everyone wins; sales people are incentivized to sell more vehicles, thus giving the making the best and cheapest deals of the year, and customers are receiving the best possible savings!
Beyond just our word, the data backs it up. According to Edmunds.com, the most discounted months for buying a vehicle are October, November, December, but December is truly the best time of the year to buy. December has the year’s highest discount off MSRP, coming in a 6.1 percent on average, and the highest incentives offered by dealerships. Purchasing at the end of the month in December, which is in combination with the end of the quarter and annual goals, adds up to an average of 8.3 percent savings on a new vehicle.
On top of that, dealerships tend to have the largest inventory in December, with vehicles for the New Year coming in. With the prior model-year cars remaining on the lot, dealerships are ready to move older inventory out to make space for the new. This is why you will find the biggest discounts on the 2018 models. In the case of Year-End Sales, timing can save you thousands!
Higher-end models, for less!
It may go without saying, but because prices are lower, you can upgrade more than ever before. The amenities that might have been just out of your budget are now within your grasp. Heated leather seats for those cold, morning commutes? Add it on!
New vehicle for the New Year = new you!
What better way to start the New Year than with a new vehicle to get you driving off to a fresh start? If you are looking to buy in January, there’s no need to wait 11 months to get a good deal. December is the best month to purchase a vehicle! We’ve included some of the most popular 2018 models below for you to check out.
What would look good with a bright red Christmas bow on it?
Picture this: the vehicle of your dreams sits in your driveway as you wake up on Christmas morning, wrapped in a bright, red bow. That’s right, it’s the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a trail rated luxury SUV, combining the rugged appeal of Jeeps with a refined interior charm.
The beauty of the Grand Cherokee is that it blends perfectly between off-roading and city utility. Cruising in this SUV is designed for comfort, with adult-friendly seating in the front and back seats, as well as plenty of cargo space in the back. It comes standard with Bluetooth, USB ports, a 115-volt power outlet, rear parking sensors, a 7-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, and a heated steering wheel. One of our favorite features is the power liftgate, which is there to help you easily load up your supplies and gear for your next adventure.
What about a sleek ride for New Years?
We’ve got you covered. We recommend the new 2018 Dodge Challenger at only $40,725 and it comes in a stunning red exterior that will be sure to turn heads.
Kelley Blue Book describes the 2018 Challenger as, “Whether you want to go fast or not, the 2018 Challenger is a terrific looking car, with clean lines that blend classic proportions with modern design.” To this, we would add that the design of the 2018 Challenger is extremely intimidating, but the insides offer an aggressive and serious performance. You will take over the streets with the TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission and one of the most powerful engines on the market. In addition, the Challenger has a surprisingly spacious second row and abundant trunk space. The 2018 Challenger is an impressive, yet practical sports car that delivers raw power.
What if I want a ride in style that won’t break the bank?
The 2018 Fiat 500 Pop is not only adorable, but prices in at only $15,785. You can also finance for only $197 a month! This classically Italian styled car is a great choice for those who want a small car with a bold performance.
This hatchback comes standard with 16-in alloy wheels, fog lights fuller power accessories, heated mirror, a backup camera, Bluetooth capabilities, two USB ports, and an Uconnect touchscreen interface. As for safety, it comes standard with stability control, 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, and seven airbags in the front, front-side, driver-knee, and full-length side-curtain.
With increased horsepower from prior Fiat 500’s, the Pop handles tight spaces easily and gracefully. You’ll love every inch of this car, from the ride to the charming, retro design.
What about April?
What sounds like calling out an oddly specific month is actually something to keep in mind. To our off-roading fans, we see you! The trails may be closed for the season now, but we’re thinking ahead, too. 2018 was an extremely exciting year for Jeep fans with the release of the 2018 Wrangler. Depending on the build you want, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler delivers on price and power.
Now, the Jeep Wrangler
Unlimited Sport is only $32,465, or financed for $405/month. With a 6-speed manual transmission and 5 models to choose from, you’ll be styling and in control on the road.
The 2018 Wrangler brought this beloved off-roading vehicle into the modern, everyday use with a 35% city fuel improvement and state-of-the-art technology and connectivity. This vehicle looks effortlessly cool whether it’s as shiny and new as it is on our lot now, or in a few months when it’s covered in mud from heading off-roads.
April is too far into the future. I’m only thinking about snow; show me four-wheel drive options.
With forecast of snow as early as this first week of December in North Carolina, it is not overreacting to get prepared ahead of time. We know that in most parts of North Carolina, snow equals both rural and citywide shutdowns due to the lack of resources to clear the roads. However, with a new four-wheel drive vehicle, you will not even think twice about heading out to the store for your staple snow valuables of bread and milk.
Cue the 2018 RAM 3500. At $49,485, the 2018 RAM 3500 is everything you ever wanted in a truck.
The 2018 RAM 3500 comes with 6-Speed Manual G-56 transmission, Uconnect 5-Inch Display, 17-inch dual rear wheels , a ParkSense Rear Park-Assist System, and Trailer Brake Control. This diesel engine and automatic transmission yields monumental torque, but has a comfortable and quiet ride. This heavy duty truck is all about towing, hauling, and bed capacity. If you’re looking for safety on and off the road, the RAM 3500 is for you.
What if I want a new 2019 model?
If you’re ready to leave 2018 behind entirely, we support you 100% in your new year’s resolutions. While we have amazing discounts on this year’s 2018 models as we move them off the lot, you better believe that we are already bringing in 2019 model vehicles. For those interested in the car industry, the months in recent past have revealed the latest new models in the spotlight, bringing forward exciting new trims, features, and technologies.
What if I’m still mentally recovering from Black Friday?
We haven’t mentioned this before, but our Black Friday deals, specifically the retail bonus cash is still in full swing. We don’t expect you to choose between the one-day Black Friday deals on TVs and laptops and coming to the dealership; we love our customers so much that we extend Black Friday deals throughout December. Take the new 2019 RAM 1500 Big Horn/Lone Star Crew Cab 4×4, for example. The 2019 RAM 1500 goes for $48,220, but between $1000 Black Friday Bonus Cash and other savings totaling in at $10,150, you’re only paying $38,070. $10,000 is savings is no joke!
The 2019 Ram 1500 was fully redesigned with reduced weight, and increased payload and towing capacity, plus more rear-seat space and a new mild hybrid power system. You won’t be able to feel the difference between the smooth-riding suspension of the 2019 Ram 1500 and a luxury sedan; this cabin delivers sensible comfort and quiet as its top priorities. But it’s not all work with no play; the 2019 Ram 1500 also promises on its off-roading capabilities, and you’re sure to have a great time in the dirt and mud.
The economy of America in 2019 is uncertain, but you know what you can count on?
Despite political leanings or even if you do not want to be involved with politics, it is hard not consider that 2019 could bring tariff conflicts with China. This would mean new car prices increasing drastically, alongside rising interest rates. What you can count on are the savings you can get right now at Mount Airy CDJRF!
PSA: A moment of truth.
2018 has been a wonderful year. We’ve built and maintained more relationships with our customers here in Mount Airy and across the Carolinas, and watched our family grow with every car driven off the lot. Winters in North Carolina and Virginia can be brutal, unreliable, and unpredictable. That’s why you need a Ram truck. You need a truck that won’t be unreliable or unpredictable. You need a truck that is heavy-duty, stable, and fierce enough to conquer any storm. You need a truck that seats more, hauls more, and does more for you and your family. Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat has that truck for you!
Ram trucks are hauling home the awards after earning their due at the Texas Truck Rodeo this year. Nearly 70 auto writers test drove 57 vehicles judged them based on 5 criteria: Interior, Exterior, Performance, Value and Personal Appeal. Ram trucks came out on top.

TRUCK OF TEXAS
Winner: 2019 Ram 1500
Runner Up: 2018 Ram 2500 Power Wagon
FULL-SIZE PICKUP TRUCK
Winner: 2019 Ram 1500 Limited
HEAVY DUTY PICKUP TRUCK
Winner: 2018 Ram 2500 Power Wagon
LUXURY PICKUP TRUCK
Winner: 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn
OFF-ROAD PICKUP TRUCK
Winner: 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel
BEST POWERTRAIN
Winner: Ram eTorque Mild Hybrid
“Being named the Texas Auto Writers Association’s Truck of Texas is the highest honor in the world’s largest pickup market,” said Reid Bigland, Head of Ram Brand and U.S. Sales; Chairman, President and CEO, FCA Canada Inc. “The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 offers the best combination of class exclusive features, refinement capability and efficiency. Winning this award is a challenge, but the Ram 1500 is well suited to the hard-working needs of Texas truck buyers.”
If it’s good enough for Texas, where bigger is better, then truck lovers in North Carolina and Virginia will find what Texas already knows to be true. The Ram can pull Texas-sized jobs, getting you where you absolutely need to be, when your work and your family are relying on you.
Do you have clients who expect you to show up on time and ready to get the job done? You need a Ram truck to be your mobile office. A project that needs an extra load or piece of equipment delivered? You need a Ram truck. A tree stump bogging down traffic flow at the construction site? You need a Ram truck.
When a neighbor’s car gets stuck in a snowbank or runs out of firewood, you can be the hero. When school lets out early and the family sedan won’t make it there and back, you can be the one to pick the kids up safely. When the snow has fallen but the horses still need to be fed, you can do the job.
And come warmer weather, when creek beds rise, and hunting seasons start, and the yard needs fresh landscaping, and the kids need to make it to practice, and the weekends are made for camping, a Ram truck won’t let you down then either.
Heavy-Duty Award Winner: the 2018 Ram 2500
Named the Texas Auto Writers’ Heavy-Duty Pickup Truck of the Year, the 2018 Ram 2500 is on sale now at Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat.
With best-in-class numbers, the 2018 Ram 2500 has 410 gas horsepower, 16,320 lbs. max gas towing, 429 lb-ft. max gas torque, and 3,990 max gas payload.
The diesel-powered Ram 2500 delivers with a 385-horsepower V6 engine, 17,980 lbs. max diesel towing, and 900 lb.-ft. max diesel torque.
“How much and how often do you tow? Do you like the clattering of diesels and the pull of their otherworldly torque? These are important questions for those considering heavy-duty pickups,” writes Car & Driver. “We like the Ram 2500 versus the burlier 3500 version; it rides better and has ample towing and hauling capability.”
That power doesn’t trade for comfort though.
“The Ram 2500 is unique in the heavy-duty truck segment because of its coil-spring rear suspension that gives it a more comfortable ride than its competitors,” writes Edmunds. “Such a configuration also allows for an air suspension, just like the one available for the Ram 1500. Besides improved ride comfort, the air suspension levels the bed when towing and hauling to keep the headlights pointed straight ahead.”
And the accolades don’t stop.
“The 2018 Ram 2500 offers something for everyone, whether you’re looking for a basic work truck, a luxury equipment hauler or a trail-conquering pickup,” writes Edmunds. “It’s an excellent all-rounder that surpasses many rivals.
Notably, we picked the 2018 Ram 2500 (including the Ram 2500 Diesel) as one of Edmunds’ Best Trucks for this year.”
The 2018 Ram 2500 comes in three cab styles, two bed lengths, three engines, two transmissions and seven trim levels: Tradesman, SLT, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, Limited and Power Wagon. The 2018 Ram 2500 Power Wagon, the off-road ready truck, was named runner up for the Texas Auto Writers’ Truck of Texas award.
“At one end of the spectrum is the Tradesman, a minimal-frills workhorse. At the other, the Limited, widens the boundaries of big-truck luxury,” Edmunds writes.
Right now Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat is offering discounts and bonus cash, along with retail consumer cash, on the new 2018 Ram 2500 Laramie Crew Cab 4×4, equipped with a 6-cylinder 6.7-liter engine and six speed automatic 68RFE transmission, starting at just $59,010. That gives you a savings of more than $10,000, on average, for every Laramie we sell.
Or consider the 2018 Ram 2500 Laramie Mega Cab, which also comes with a diesel 6-cylinder 6.7 liter engine, 6-speed automatic 68RFE transmission, a 4×4 drivetrain, and a 6’4” box. The extra cab room serves as an office with room for you, the crew, and clients or more room for family. The Mount Airy price is just $64,900.
We also have the 2018 Ram 2500 Tradesman Crew Cab with the reliable diesel 6 cylinder 6.7-liter engine. Standard features include 17-inch steel wheels, a locking tailgate, air conditioning, a 40/20/40-split front bench, a tilt-only steering wheel, a driver information display, vinyl upholstery, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with an incorporated rearview camera display, and a six-speaker stereo with a USB port. Mount Airy prices start at $44,065 for manual transmission and $47,515 for automatic. These price points are excellent for the packages that they deliver.
Luxury, Full-Size, and Off-Road Pickup Trucks of the Year
The 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn Mega Cab was named the Texas Auto Writers’ Luxury Pickup Truck of the year.
“Arguably Ram’s biggest engineering challenge with the 2019 1500 was simply improving on the old model,” writes MotorTrend. “The 2018 1500 was so nice to drive on the road that there really wasn’t a ton of room left for improvement—yet Ram managed to pull it off. The single greatest improvement in how the Ram 1500 drives on the road is in the way it rides, which was already comfortable. The 2019 1500 now rides like a big SUV in the best way possible. Even without the optional air suspension, the Ram floats over bumps big and small without any impact harshness or gut jiggle. Only on the biggest bumps do you get secondary body motions, but even those are dispatched fairly quickly.”
We’ve got a variety of high-end 2019 Ram 1500s to choose from including the Laramie Longhorn Crew Cab, Big Horn/Lone Star Crew Cab, and Big Horn/Lone Star Quad Cab. The Laramie Longhorn Crew Cab comes with a 5.7L V8 HEMI and special perks like the 12-inch touchscreen display, 19-speaker harman/kardon premium sound system, leather-trimmed bucket seats, heated and cooled seats, remote start engine, power running boards, dual-rear exhaust, wireless charging pad, parking assist, adaptive cruise control, collision warning, and more. And as the Full-Size Pickup Truck of the Year, the 2019 Ram 1500 Limited, is at the top of the line.
“Not only is the cabin bank-vault quiet, but there are also noticeable upgrades to both interior quality and fit and finish,” writes MotorTrend. “Gone are the hard plastics and janky switchgear; in their place are thick, soft leather and high-quality satin-finished plastics and metal accents.”
You can save now and get these truly classy trucks for less than MSRP.
Winner of the Off-Road Pickup Truck of the year, the 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel is ready to tackle mud with 4-corner air suspension, panoramic sunroof, remote start system, dual exhaust with black tips, trip-fold tonneau cover, back-camera and more to earn its Rebel and Hemi badges.

You can get started on your new purchase now by getting a great value for your trade and applying for financing online.
More and more often buyers are opting out of sedans and coupes and choosing pickups and SUVs as their new luxury vehicles. Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat’s inventory is geared up for for those who demand high-end amenities, top trim levels, and additional upgrades. This time of year you can get more for your money with 2017 and 2018 models, which are on sale now in order to make room for incoming 2019s. It’s an especially great time to look at high-end Jeeps and Rams.
What defines a step up to the luxury automobile market? These days, it’s about 50K.
“According to research firm J.D. Power and Associates, $50,000 is the slightly blurry line between mainstream and luxury in today’s auto market,” reports CNBC.
At Mount Airy CDJRF, you’ll find the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 4×4 with its leather-trimmed bucket seats, Alpine premium audio system, keyless entry, back-up camera, privacy glass, LED lighting, steel bumpers, and the 2.0L I4 DOHC Turbo eTorque engine.
“Jeep didn’t just keep the charm in the 2018 Wrangler,” writes Road and Track magazine. “The automaker enhanced it, made it easier to access the joys that a no-roof, no-doors 4×4 has always promised. The result is amazing.”
The 2018 Wrangler makes owning a Jeep perhaps even more fun because it’s even easier than before. The pop-off doors weigh less, the canvas top is no longer a jangle of zippers, and the technology and infotainment are modern amenities designed to still work despite mud and rain.
“You won’t find any drastic departures from the original recipe here: The axles are still solid, the roof and doors still come off, the body still bolts to the frame,” says Road and Track. “Everything that makes people exuberantly, irrationally love the Wrangler is still here. It’s just been finessed in a way that won’t jostle a die-hard’s sensibilities.”
The Rubicon is made for heading off road right off the lot. The next in line trim model, the Sahara, is a bit more every-day drive style than dirt slinger.
“With body-color fender flares, the Sahara has a sleeker and more uniform appearance,” writes CP Pony Parts. “Deep tint sunscreen windows add some extra privacy and style. Power heated mirrors keep you safe in the winter and don’t sacrifice visibility. A grille that matches the body color and has fine silver metallic accents graces the front of the vehicle.”
Add in the embroidered seats and 18-inch wheels to options like a body-color, three-piece hard top, anti-spin differential rear axle, turbo charger, and rollover protection system, and the Sahara is dressed to impress.
Also in our top-of-the-line selection is the 2018 Ram 2500. The Laramie Longhorn Mega Cab 4×4 with a 6’4” box is on sale now with nearly $11,000 in savings. It is a beast of a truck with a 6.7L I6 Cummins Turbo Diesel, 5th wheel towing, off-road package, cargo view camera, anti-spin differential rear axle, plus premium leather bucket seats with heating and cooling, keyless entry, sunroof, privacy glass, suede headliner, walnut veneer, and more. The Laramie Crew Cab, Big Horn Crew Cab, and Tradesman round out the 2500’s offerings, and we have the 2018 3500 Tradesman (even one as a manual with an 8’ box). The 3500 can tow up to 31,210 pounds, which is more than Ford.
“The Ram HD proves there’s no substitute for good, old-fashioned power and capability,” writes Car and Driver. “Despite an aging architecture, this heavy-duty pickup has a trim for every trade and a powertrain for every preference.”
Need a commercial truck? The 2018 Ram 4500 Tradesman Chassis Crew Cab 4×4 is it. Built to haul, this no-nonsense turbo diesel comes with an electronically controlled throttle, 5.0 touch screen display, integrated voice command with Bluetooth, satellite radio, back-up camera, front and rear assist parking system, remote keyless entry and more for around $60,000.
While pick-up trucks and SUVs may be commanding the market right now, there’s something to be said for the all-American sports car and a big engine that goes fast. Get in and get at the gas in a 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack for around $48,365. The 6.4L Hemi V8 with performance tires and the Shaker package, comes with perks like a heated steering wheel, leather-wrapped shift knob, remote start, foldaway mirrors, and a 5-year SiriusXM subscription. We’ve got one in Granite and one in Pitch Black. Which one is the one for you? If you’re looking to save a little more, our 2018 Challenger in TorRed is listed right now at $40,725.
Year-end clearance sales aren’t just for saving on high-end models. Buyers can save even on vehicles priced less. In addition to new vehicle specials, we have lease specials, pre-owned vehicle specials, certified vehicle specials, and specials on our specials with our Black Friday and Mega Sales.

On the sunny Saturday morning of Sept. 29, the town of Mount Airy once again welcomed friends from near and far to the annual Mayberry Days parade. Parade day draws them in as Barney Fife and his single bullet, a steady stream of squad cars, Mount Airy dignitaries, and Andy Griffith Show cast members make their way down Main Street.
For those not in the know, Mount Airy’s greatest claim to fame is being the actor Andy Griffith’s birthplace. The little town tucked just under the North Carolina state line between Pilot Mountain and Fancy Gap, Va., was the basis for the Griffith Show’s fictional town of Mayberry. These days Mount Airy echoes much of what Mayberry was — a friendly place where most everyone knows most everybody and you can stop in the soda fountain to sit a spell over a root beer float.
As an expression of gratitude to the local community, Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat is an annual festival sponsor. Our Dodge trucks are always in the parade, and this year we were chauffeurs to the likes of Clint Howard, who you might remember from the Andy Griffith Show as a little boy always dressed in a cowboy outfit and eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and Elvis (the impersonator of course).
Sad you missed it? Luckily for you, you can join us on the ride down Main Street and catch up with Little Miss Spare Rib, the Pickle Princess, Thelma Lou, Gomer Pyle, and many more.
We may not be able to provide you with your own personal driver, but we’ve got plenty of nice trucks we think you’d look pretty good in. Come on by the dealership and visit us. We’re at 538 North Andy Griffith Parkway, online at clickmountairy.com, or just give us a call at 336.429.5462.
Sometimes we long for small towns and more simple times. Back when we knew our neighbors and all the town’s comings and goings, bake sales and talent shows were big events and we could count on meeting a friend at the grocery or hardware store. Nostalgia conjures up a place not unlike Mayberry — that fictional town where Mount Airy-native Andy Griffith was born and raised and where, for nearly 30 years now, a festival celebrates bygone days.
Mayberry Days, held Sept. 24-30 in historic Mount Airy, is a family-oriented festival featuring a parade, live music, comedy shows, a slew of contests including pie-eating, pork chop sandwich-eating, and a checkers tournament, educational lectures, Andy Griffith movies, and special guests from the Mayberry show. It’s about as wholesome as you can get.

As an expression of gratitude to the local community, Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat is an annual festival sponsor. Be sure to look for Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat at the festival — you may even see one of our cars in the parade. The parade is a festival highlight with appearances from esteemed luminaries including the Pickle Queen, Potato Queen, and Pork Princess, a marching band, vintage squad cars, and a cow wearing shoes.
Want to get in on some of all the action? Consider the apple peeling competition, which harkens back to an episode of The Andy Griffith Show in which Andy peels an apple in one long, curly strip. If you’re hungry, enter the pork chop sandwich-eating competition and try to beat the record of eight. Know-it-alls will want to be part of the trivia contests, while those with a nine-iron on their shoulder can play in the Mayberry Days Golf Tournament (aka The Emmett).
Take in a show at the Historic Earle Theater, an old-time music hall and stage that’s been entertaining folks since 1938. Throughout the year, the theater features exhibits, an audio-guided tour, lessons, and workshops. During Mayberry Days, you can catch comedy from The Mouth of Mayberry, John Floyd, on stage, reminisce with Memories of Elvis, and join in a discussion about “Murder in Coweeta County,” a 1983 film about a true crime in which Griffith takes a turn playing the villain to Johnny Cash’s sheriff. On Sept. 28 the theater welcomes the best in bluegrass and Americana for the Beyond the Blue Ridge series, and on Dec. 29 there will be a dance.
For a full schedule of Mayberry Days activities as well as tickets and competition registration, visit surryarts.org/mayberrydays.
While you’re in town, come on by the dealership and visit us too. We’ve got great specials on new and used cars plus our commercial trucks and vans can keep your business going. You can find us at 538 North Andy Griffith Parkway, online at clickmountairy.com, or just give us a call at 336.429.5462. We’ll be happy to take you out for a test drive or, if you find yourself in a bind, ring up our service department and, while we don’t have Goober and Gomer Pyle working in the mechanic’s department, we’ll make any repairs needed to help get you on your way.

When the RAM truck was first introduced in 1981 it was meant to serve as anything from a comfortable family vehicle to a rugged work truck. As years went on, and with numerous awards won, the RAM evolved to fit the ever-changing needs of the modern driver. Today the Dodge RAM has become a staple family/work vehicle that continues to impress and evolve.
Versatility of the 2019 Dodge RAM
Customer psychology is one of the first things considered when designing a vehicle, and Dodge spends a lot of time thinking about RAM drivers. Rather than market towards one, specific type of person, the Dodge RAM is built to operate as a versatile machine that works hard for all types of drivers. This is one of the things we love most about the RAM family. Dodge has created a brand that seamlessly fits right into our lives.

Here are just a few activities you can do in the all new Dodge RAM 1500:
- Hauling—the 2019 Dodge RAM has best-in-class hauling and towing. Its powerful V-8 engine can handle heavy-duty loads with ease and a smoothness not offered in most modern trucks. This is because most other trucks are not powered by a revolutionary eTorque, hybrid engine that combines fuel and electricity. What keeps the RAM swaying or vibrating while hauling or towing big loads is its high-strength steel frame. According to RAM’s website, this sturdy skeleton offers up to 12,750 pounds of towing and 2,300 pounds of payload. For those drivers looking to haul on the regular, this is your truck. The 2019 RAM’s rugged luxury lets you get hard work done in style and comfort.
- Office Space—the thought of using your vehicle as an office induces stress: paperwork scattered, a misplaced phone, sitting uncomfortably while trying to type. Productive work does not get done this way. Dodge understands this, and has thus created the most luxurious, roomy cabin of any truck in its class. Once you open the door to the all-new 2019 RAM, the soft leather, dark mood lights, and sheer size will engulf you. This is the perfect office. The Harmon Kardon premium speakers offer clear, crisp conversations with clients, while the dual-pane panoramic sunroof offers plenty of natural light. The middle armrest is a perfect mini-desktop, and the dash and surrounding area serve as perfect space to hold paperwork and materials. Don’t be surprised if you end up spending more time in here than in your actual office. The best part is this office travels with you!
- Transport Clients—the first rule to transporting clients is that you must drive something classy and impressive. Sure, a truck may not be the first vehicle pictured for client transportation, but that’s about to change. Once you and your clients are inside the 2019 RAM with the doors shut and that engine purring, “truck” is the last thing anyone is thinking. Thick, plush seating that easily seats five makes the already-smooth drive even softer. As you float on down the road, exterior sounds are muted while the interior atmosphere is enhanced. The tinted windows, mood lighting, and ample legroom place everyone at ease.
Of course there are some people who do all of the above. Sometimes your office is also your client transportation. The nice thing about the 2019 Dodge RAM is that you don’t have to purchase a different truck for each aspect of your life. The RAM is your all-in-one vehicle that can equally act as a truck for hauling and one for family fun. Dodge has essentially created the most functional line of vehicles.
RAM Commercial Lineup
The RAM family has had so much success that it has entered the commercial realm. This line of trucks and vans is perfect for any business, big or small. Here is a quick breakdown of RAM’s commercial lineup:
- RAM Promaster City: this is the smallest of the five commercial vehicles, but still offers impressive stats. It has a cargo capacity of over 131.7 cubic feet, a max payload of over 1,883 pounds, up to 28 highway mpg. It also comes in eight colors and a clean, sleek design.
- RAM Promaster: this is the larger of the two vans offered. It comes standard with a V-6 engine with 280 horsepower, and a high-tech front-wheel drive system that manages to reduce weight and provide impressive traction. Dodge also offers a wonderful warranty package and free oil changes with the Promaster.
- RAM Chassis Cab: if you need a big, powerful flatbed that’s good on gas and easy on the eyes, this is it. The RAM Chassis comes standard with a 6.4-liter HEMI gas engine that packs a punch with 410 horsepower and 429 pounds-feet of torque. There are several power take off prep options, so you can alter your truck to fit your exact needs.
- RAM 3500 & 2500: both trucks are offered for residential and commercial use. However, the commercial side offers a different variety of colors and some powerful engine and towing options.

The summer sun can do a number on your car, and at Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge RAM Fiat we know that higher temperatures outside mean a greater demand for nice, cool air conditioning inside. While every service appointment includes a multi-point inspection, chances are that you will be the first one to notice if your AC isn’t working like it should. Here are some handy tips to help you better understand how your AC works, plus some intriguing background history!
There are three main parts to a typical vehicle’s air conditioning: the compressor, condenser, and evaporator.

- Compressor: A belt attached to the engine’s crankshaft drives the compressor, which is a pump. The pump draws in gaseous refrigerant and forces it out to the condenser.
- Condenser: As the refrigerant moves from the compressor to the condenser it passes through a small reservoir containing desiccants. You’ve probably seen little packets of desiccants in new shoe boxes or purses. The desiccant does the same thing it does in that shoe box or purse—removes moisture. The refrigerant then enters the condenser as a pressurized gas, which creates heat. Air flowing around the twisting tubes of the condenser cools the refrigerant down until it forms a liquid again.
- Evaporator: The evaporator is located inside your vehicle’s cabin rather than the engine compartment. Liquid refrigerant enters the evaporator and the heat of the car turns it back into a gas. A fan blows over the evaporator coil, blowing cool air into the car.
Do you know your AC history?
The first automotive air conditioning was invented in 1939 and was offered as a factory-installed option in 1940. It took almost 30 years, though, for air conditioning to really catch on—by 1969 only half of all new cars sold had it. We hope that some of the folks in Mount Airy had some of the few cars with air conditioning back in July 1954—that month, the local weather station off Bluff Road measured Surry County’s highest temperature on record, at a scorching 105 degrees.
How to keep your unit in shape.
While it will take any car some time to cool down after being parked in the hot sun, you should pay attention to whether or not your AC is coming out cold and fast. Do you notice that cold air isn’t coming out of the vents with much force? Is the air not very cold at all? If you notice one of these problems, schedule a service appointment to have your air conditioning checked. You may also want to take us up on one of our service center coupons which may include discounts on oil changes, batteries, tire rotation, and touch-up paint.
Extra tips for hybrid drivers!
Note that hybrid vehicles do not operate quite the same way as traditional vehicles. Those like the hybrid Chrysler Pacifica use an electric compressor that relies on power from car’s high-voltage battery. Never try to work on a hybrid vehicle’s air conditioning without training!
When the Jeep Wagoneer was first manufactured it was an immediate hit, and in the many years since, it has turned into a celebrated collector’s item. Lately, there has been speculation about a possible return of the venerable “woodie.”
With its whitewall wheels, vinyl-wood paneling, and roomy interior, the Jeep Wagoneer (SJ) was designed to become a classic and reigned all popular from its introduction in 1963 to its final days in 1991. While other makers focused on stripped-down work trucks, Jeep loaded the Wagoneer with features like power steering, an automatic transmission, and a factory installed AC or radio. Available as a two-door or four-door, the Wagoneer brought the entire family together to ride in ease and comfort. First marketed as a station wagon, the high-riding, boxy car was rechristened a sport utility vehicle when Jeep coined the term in 1974.
After nearly 30 years in production, the Wagoneer rolled off the production line for the last time on June 21, 1991. It was metallic hunter green.

But… good things roll back around to those who wait.
Jeep is rumored to be working on plans to launch a luxury edition of the Wagoneer — with faux-wood paneling! — at some point in the not too distant future. It once was scheduled for a 2019 release. Guesses now point to around 2020 or 2021.
Will the new Wagoneer project the same campy-cool, beach-vibe as its former self?
There have been other vehicles to try and posses the same coolness as the original luxury SUV. The Plymouth Voyager minivan slapped a few wood-like pieces on its sides, but it lacked style and looked exactly like the beast it was — a poorly-designed people mover. There was no cool factor. The Buick Roadmaster Estate, a tremendous boat of a car build with a V8-engine from 1991 to 1996, did a little better job sporting its wooden panels, but the rise of the full-sized SUV put it out of production. These attempts, and many others, to create a modern woodie paled in comparison to the Wagoneer.
There’s more to re-launching an old classic than just keeping a few of its most memorable parts. A lot of what turns old cars into classics is the very fact they are old. They herald a time gone past when wind tunnel tests and gas mileage ratings weren’t as much of a concern and bumpers were made of steel. Even those who wouldn’t describe themselves as car aficionados have a bit of nostalgia for the cruisers of old with rusted out Buicks and Fords making the backdrop of plenty a black-and-white wedding photo on Pinterest.
How well a modern Wagoneer would sell? Volkswagen brought back the Bug. They updated it, made it run better, added luxury items, but kept car’s most iconic features: the round shape, its cute small frame, and its zippy pick-up. Meanwhile, the Ford Thunderbird, which created the “personal luxury vehicle” niche when it was release in 1955, bombed when it was briefly resurrected from 2002-2005.
Whether a new Jeep Wagoneer is vastly different or very much the same — leaked pictures from back in 2016 hinted at something like a vastly upgraded Grand Cherokee — there’s something exciting about the SUVs pioneer making something old new again. In addition to the Wagoneer, a Jeep Wrangler-based truck is slated for release in late 2019. One thing that has been proven time and time again is that if any car maker has succeeded by reinventing itself on a theme, it’s Jeep. The style, rugged toughness, and sheer pleasure of driving any Jeep has earned the brand an extraordinarily loyal following.

North Carolina is one of several states in which it is now illegal to leave your pet locked in a hot car. Studies have shown that in just a short amount of time the temperature inside a car, even on a seemingly cool day, can soar to surprising levels. At Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat, we know that there are many others who, like us, enjoy taking their four-legged friends out on the road. We hope the proper precautions will keep all family members safe and happy.
It is unlawful to confine an animal in a motor vehicle under conditions that are likely to cause suffering, injury, or death to the animal due to heat, cold, lack of adequate ventilation, or under other endangering conditions. Often people think that cracking the windows will provide adequate ventilation to keep a car cool. It doesn’t — at least not to any significant effect. Here are the facts from the Humane Society:
When it’s 72 degrees Fahrenheit outside, the temperature inside your car can heat up to 116 degrees Fahrenheit within an hour.
When it’s 80 degrees Fahrenheit outside, the temperature inside your car can heat up to 99 degrees Fahrenheit within 10 minutes.
How do we at Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat know this is true? Because we spend A LOT of time with cars! Just imagine how we feel getting into an all new Ram 1500, Dodge Journey, or Jeep Cherokee that’s been sitting out on the lot on one of these hot summer days. While we’re always excited to show you features like power windows and a sunroof, we also just want to let some of all that hot air out of the vehicle.
“Stats do not lie: dogs die in hot cars,” states DMV.org. “So do cats, kids, and videotapes. It is a bit of a no-brainer that you would not leave your child in the car with no water on a 100-degree day! But somehow people think dogs are different than humans. They are: they have fur. You know what it is like opening the door to the car on a hot day. Imagine your dog in there with a fur coat.”
We know that it may seem like second nature to put the dog in the back of the pickup truck and go out for a ride, but the fact of the matter is that it’s not safe.
“Although you may have a pickup truck and are under the impression that a dog and truck bed go hand-in-hand, you are mistaken,” states DMV.org. “Each year thousands of dogs are killed while in a truck bed, mostly from falling out or being bonked by road rubbish.”

And your dog’s habit of hanging its head out the window? While it seems like fun, it too can pose a hazard due to wind speed damaging the respiratory system, tree branches or other road-side growth striking an eye, or even a wayward paw rolling the window all the way up.
According to the American Kennel Club’s Canine Health Foundation (AKCCHF), dogs can suffer dehydration, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and sudden death from cardiac arrhythmia. Although a dog’s normal temperature is around 101 degrees, just a two degree internal temperature increase can start to threaten their well-being. The physical signs over overheating for a dog are not unlike the physical signs for a human.
“Panting, followed by disorientation and fast, noisy breathing could signal overheating,” the AKCCHF writes. “Other possible signs: Collapsing or convulsing, bright red or blue gums, vomiting and diarrhea.”
Dehydration frequently accompanies overheating. Severe dehydration may require IV fluids to treat.
“Signs of a dehydrated dog include sunken eyes and dry mouth, gums and nose,” states the AKCCHF. Poor skin elasticity is another dehydration symptom, which you can test by gently pulling up on the skin at the back of your dog’s neck. If the skin doesn’t immediately spring back to its normal position, your dog may be dehydrated. The longer it takes for the skin to return to its normal position, the more severe the dehydration.”
These physical signs clearly indicate that your dog is not feeling well.
Any heat-related condition, if severe and prolonged enough, can result in organ damage. Hospitalization may be required. The AKCCHF notes that dogs kept outdoors or used during hunting may also be at risk. Plus, just because the heat is gone that doesn’t mean that the danger is gone too.
“Even a dog that has seemingly recovered should be examined,” reads an article in Field & Stream. “Some effects of heatstroke, involving the dog’s vital organs, won’t show themselves until the day after an incident. Also, once a dog has had a heat episode, there’s a likely chance it will happen again, even under lesser conditions.”
Cats, despite their love for a nap in the sun, also can overheat. Their physical signs are very similar to a dog’s. A cat’s normal body temperature also is around 101 degrees, but anything over 102.5 can become threatening. Kittens are more susceptible to overheating that adolescent or adult cats. You may not take your cat for a ride on the regular, but it’s worth remembering cats-in-cars safety tips for trips to the vet or moving.
“Some cats will hop in a car like a dog. But this is rare, and most likely, to ensure Fluffy is at least somewhat comfortable, you’ll need to put her in an appropriate-sized carrier,” states DMV.org. “She may not like it; she may meow to a decibel that is painful. She may even avoid you for days afterward in protest, but the carrier will safely transport her.”
And don’t forget that pets CAN get sunburned! Animals with pale skin, particularly those with white fur, can burn just like humans. A bit of sunscreen on the tips of the ears or a pink nose is okay to apply — just choose a sunscreen you would be willing to put on yourself or your child. Consumer Reports offers a sunscreen buying guide online.
Do you know what to do if your pet does have a heat-related illness?
If possible, take your pet’s temperature. Using a rectal thermometer, obtain a reading and report the information to your vet.
Cool your pet down. Damp towels over a dog’s neck, under its armpits, and between his hind legs can start the cooling process. Pour cool water over a dog’s ears and on its paws also helps. If you’re outside, make use of bodies of water like streams or lakes.
Provide cold water to drink. Never force an animal to drink as it may result in choking. You can however gently pour cold water over an animals’ mouth and tongue. Don’t give ice! Ice may cause a shock to the system.
Head to the vet. Call ahead to let the vet know about your emergency situation. If you’re traveling, seek out an emergency vet clinic. First responders like police and medics may be able to help you find one.
Now that you know more about how to keep your pets safe, why don’t you join us in appreciating a few of the great animal-related car commercials from over the years?

For more than 75 years, Jeep has enabled drivers to push the limits, exceed the boundaries, and not only create adventure but be the adventure. Jeep life is about the freedom to explore, to go anywhere and do anything, to take the road less traveled no matter the terrain. Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat wants you to have your own Jeep adventure this summer. But before you know where you’re going, you have to know where you’ve been.
1940s – Designed for the battle field, the Jeep staked a claim on honor, freedom, and adventure as a hero to soldiers across the globe. Prior to WWII, the military called for a 1/4 ton “light reconnaissance vehicle” tailored to Army specifications. Only three companies responded — Bantam, Willys, and Ford — but, within a year’s time they collectively produced the template for the vehicle known worldwide as the “jeep”. After Jeep established its name on the battle field, it became an icon that held its values and subsequently earned rank among civilians. Its capabilities and attention to drivers’ needs made Jeep the leader in 4×4 technology. The Jeeps of the 1940s include:
1940 – Willys Quad
1941 – Willys MA
1941 – Willys MB
1945 – Jeep CJ-2A
1946 – Willys Wagon
1947 – Willys-Overland Truck
1948 – Jeep Jeepster (VJ)
1949 – Jeep CJ-3A

1950s – The “Jeep” name became a registered trademark in 1950 to Willys-Overland. In 1953, the company was sold for $60.8 Million dollars to Henry J. Kaiser. Its new name was Willys Motor Inc. The company proudly became known for being the largest production of four-wheel-drive vehicles. These years made Jeep famous for being a recreational vehicle, and the Jeep hit new records in sales. The unique models of the 1950s include:
1950 – Jeep M38(MC)
1952 – Jeep M-38A1(MD)
1953 – Jeep M-170 (MD-A)
1953 – Jeep CJ-3B (Universal)
1955 – Jeep CJ-5
1955 – Jeep CJ-6
1957 – Jeep FC-150 (FC)
1957 – Jeep FC-170 (FC)
1960s – The 1960s brought luxury to transportation. Designed by Brooks Stevens, the all-new Jeep Wagoneer saw incredible refinement and innovation along with the first 4×4 automatic transmission and independent suspension. Along with the new standards for luxury, Jeep increased the power and capabilities in many vehicles. The Jeep CJ-5 and CJ-6 both featured the V6 engine. The 1960s introduced these models:
1961 – Fleetvan (FJ-3/FJ-3A)
1963 – Jeep Wagoneer (SJ)
1963 – Jeep Gladiator/ J-Series Truck
1964 – Jeep CJ-5A/CJ-6A Tuxedo Park
1965 – Jeep J-2000 & J-3000 Series Pickup (SJ)

1969 – Jeep Gladiator / J-4000 Series Pickup (SJ)
1970s – Jeep continued to lead in its technology and design for 4×4 vehicles and introduced the first full-time 4×4 system in 1972 in the Quadra-Trac 4×4 System. The Jeep Cherokee (SJ), a sporty, two-door, full-size vehicle, won 4×4 of the Year. In 1970, Henry Kaiser sold Jeep for $75 million to American Motors (AMC). Jeep continued to hit record high sales, and by 1978 the company was producing more than 600 vehicles a day. The Jeep models of the 1970s include:
1970 – Dispatcher Jeep (DJ)
1972 – CJ-5 Renegade
1974 – Jeep J-10 Pickup
1974 – Jeep J-20 Pickup
1975 – Jeep Cheerokee (SJ)
1975 – Jeep Cherokee Chief (SJ)
1976 – Jeep CJ-7
1980s – The All-New Jeep Cherokee (XJ) was a big step for Jeep and the automotive industry. Pushed by the energy crisis and need for a smaller wagon style vehicle, the new model introduced the first compact SUV with four-doors, the first uniframe construction, and first shift-on-the-fly capability for the full-time 4×4 system. Sales continued to increase, and the legendary Jeep Wrangler was introduced in 1986. In 1987, Chrysler Corporations bought American Motors Corporation. Vehicle models of the 1980s include:

The 1997 Jeep Wrangler (TJ) was very similar to the CJ-7 but used four-link coil suspension and had an updated interior. Sales continued to rise and the corporation merged with Germen Daimler-Benz for $36 billion. The Jeeps of the 1990s include:
1993 – Jeep Grand Cherokee (ZJ)
1993 – Jeep Grand Wagoneer (ZJ)
1997 – Jeep Wrangler (TJ)
2000s – Merging with Daimler-Benz began to prove its value as the Jeep brand produced several new models including the smaller Compass, Liberty, and Patriot. The Jeep vehicles produced in the 2000s include:
